25.01.2022 The Keith and District Hospital would like to sincerely thank the Keith Apex Club and Tony Redden for their generous assistance in the relocation of many heavy items, in preparation for the commencement of the redevelopment. Many thanks also goes out to the members of the Keith Men's Shed for all their dismantling skills. The Redevelopment Plans are now available for viewing in the Hospital Foyer. Community members are all welcome to come and view during business hours.

From offering to grab some groceries to leaving a comment on their latest Facebook post, here are some things that may help them feel a little less alone during this difficult time.

21.01.2022 DRIVE THRU CLINIC BOOKED OUT WEDNESDAY 1ST APRIL We have had an overwhelming response to our drive through clinics and are now booked out for todays clinic. We will have more vaccine delivered next week and will advise clinic times following their arrival. PLEASE PHONE THE CLINIC AFTER THE 7TH APRIL TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT. Drive-Through Flu Clinics Have Commenced at KDMC!... - Private Vaccines Available Now ($20 fee payable by eftpos) - Bookings also being taken for Government Vaccines from Tuesday 7th April (over 65s, under 5s, patients with chronic health conditions and pregnant women are all eligible for a free vaccine). Please call the clinic to book in for your vaccination on 8755 1766. You will be given instructions at the time of booking as to the drive-through clinic process.

19.01.2022 In 1992, the first day of September each year was officially declared National Wattle Day throughout Australia by the Commonwealth of Australia. The Residents got involved in celebrating wattle day by making pom pom wattle blossoms for decoration in the residents dining room; vases full of wattle decorated the courtyard area too, making Stirling Lodge look very cheerful for the first day of Spring.

16.01.2022 We are pleased to welcome locum Dr Alison Lyon MBChB FRACGP FARGP MS BSc (hons) to KDMC. Dr Lyons special interests include medical education, womens health, skin cancer and person-centered care. She will be consulting at the clinic for 2 weeks until Friday 20th March, and will return to Keith for another period from 14th - 17th April.

13.01.2022 Free breast cancer screening in Keith its a lifesaver! BreastScreen SA is coming to Keith from late October to late November 2020, to provide free breast cancer screening (breast X-rays) to healthy women aged 50 to 74 years, helping to detect breast changes that are too small to feel. Each year nearly 100,000 South Australian women book their screening mammogram at BreastScreen SA, but this represents only 59% of women who are eligible. ... A womans risk of developing breast cancer increases with age (1 in 9 South Australian women will be diagnosed before she turns 75). By finding breast cancer early, more lives can be saved and treatments can be simplified. Please share this post x

10.01.2022 A huge thank you to the Keith Lions Club for your incredibly generous donation of a defib machine for the entrance to Stirling Lodge. With the reduction in hours and the relocation of urgent care services to the clinic end of the hospital, it seemed appropriate to ensure that this life saving piece of equipment was still available to visitors to Stirling Lodge. Here is a photo of some of the wonderful local Lions adhering to the social distancing requirements for their photo! Thanks again for all your fundraising efforts, and your generosity to our communities hospital :)

10.01.2022 Congratulations to our very own Sue Jones (CEO/DON) for being deservedly nominated as an UNSUNG HERO in the ACSA 2020 recognition program. Sue was nominated for her above and beyond dedication to the Hospital. She has been instrumental in fighting for future funding and the reopening of the Acute and Urgent Care Services. We are very lucky to have her. Watch this space for exciting times ahead.

In light of the recent passing of Mr Frank Mugg who was one of the founders of the Community Breakfast, the Sub Branch feel it would be such a shame for the Hospital to miss out on the community funding in 2020 due to the current regulations.... All money raised from mask sales will go towards the Leaf Project. This project intends to provide the aged care residents with a ceiling projector, which projects various game onto the table for residents to enjoy.

01.01.2022 Coronavirus (COVID-19) GP Respiratory Clinics The Department of Health is funding up to 100 GP respiratory clinics to help protect Australians. If you think you have symptoms of COVID-19 you can contact a clinic to be assessed and get clinical advice. Naracoorte and Murray Bridge Respiratory Clinics are the closest we have to Keith and are pleased to be part of the Australian Governments response to COVID-19.... The purpose of the respiratory clinic is to assess, test and diagnose mild-to-moderate respiratory conditions, including COVID-19, influenza and pneumonia. Clinic bookings are ONLY for symptomatic patients. Patients with any of the following symptoms are strongly encouraged to make an appointment to attend the clinic: - Fever - Dry cough - Sore throat - Runny or stuffy nose - Shortness of breath Patients with any of the following symptoms may also make an appointment to attend the clinic: - Loss of taste or smell - Aches and pains - Headache - Conjunctivitis - Diarrhoea - A rash on skin or discoloration of fingers or toes All patients tested for COVID-19 are required to and must home isolate until test results are provided by medical staff.
