24.01.2022 Back on line again after a long break. Since we survived last year's cruise, we have decided to book another one. Yippee!!. This one is a bit longer, going out as far as Fiji but also stopping at Norfolk Island, one of my bucket list places. We are sailing on the same ship as last year - We oldies need some comfort zones. New places can be frightening!! (Plus, I know where the bars are!)... I have also started writing again in a small way. Preparing a short story for this year's "Henry Lawson Literary Awards" in Gulgong. (Had some success there in 2012) It fits in well. Entries close April 10th. Cruise returns on June 5th and results will be known, in Gulgong on the June long weekend. Fingers are crossed, but knocking out the cobwebs is the best part.

21.01.2022 Enjoying our 2 nights and all day at sea, around the south of Greece - 15 ft waves and 40 knots of breeze. Stabilizers working very well!

16.01.2022 On the move! Camper trailer on Gumtree at 10am - sold by 3.30pm. House sold on first open day, with extended settlement. Still have a 5 week shortfall before new place ready. Could be in a swag under a bridge for a while. C'est la vie!!

15.01.2022 Back on dry land! We survived New Caledonia and the Loyalty Islands. It was like sailing on a mirror most of the way, but gradually got worse as the cruise progressed. The last two nights and one day were the worst. We caught the bad east coast weather rolling up towards us. The 22 year old ship was not too bad. The stabilizers worked quite well. As we sat on the Pantry deck for lunch, we watched the horizon moving up and down through the window. Although it looked quite dram...atic, it wasn't noticed at deck level. The only time people staggered was when it changed direction from a port to a starboard roll. It did not affect the beer, scotch or cocktails - never spilt a drop! The shore trips were varied and interesting with plenty of island culture. We felt sorry for a group of Isle of Pines locals as they sang welcome songs at the wharf in the rain. They were still there, singing a farewell song, in the rain when we were ferried back to the ship. I must admit, they sounded similar, although I did not understand the words. - They might have been singing "Push off tourists so we can go and get dry!" - They were really lovely people!! 15.01.2022 I've just experienced a very traumatic event - I had to part with my favourite pair of jeans - even though they had been relegated to being worn in the yard an...d the shed for the last twelve months. In the depths of despair, last night, I wrote my "Ode to Jeans". Farewell old friend your time has come. Over the years we’ve shared much fun. I can’t recall when we first met. So long ago; I’ve no regrets. Survived house moves, so many times, travelled together on many airlines. You stood with me, covered my things, wallet and change, many key-rings. You’ve always been a comfortable fit, your slow demise pained me a bit. Surgery kept you hanging on, Patches, new pockets, you still shone. Your fabric declined, time has come now you can barely cover my bum. The rag-bag seems so very cruel for what was once my wardrobe jewel. Your life can’t end, my favourite jeans, I’ll hide you where you can’t be seen and when I die, you will be found; once more with me, we’ll be heaven bound.

14.01.2022 5 days to go before last of the furniture is moved out. New house is close to finished - might just make it! No room to sleep in container - it's full.

14.01.2022 Two weeks after contracts exchanged: Slab poured, frame erected, roof tiled, external cladding on. electrical wiring being in stalled, plumbing being installed. Good possibility of completion in 4 weeks!!

11.01.2022 I have received a copy of "The Bronze Swagman Book of Bush Verse 2015" containing one of my poems. Wow! I'm a published poet. Never thought I'd see that!! I will put "Billabong Reverie" on my Blog Page later today. windsors1.blogspot.com

10.01.2022 OMG: We booked another cruise!! Waiting to see whether it is cancelled. It is supposed to leave Sydney on May 22nd. Audrey's heart doctor said: "You booked a what? You're crazy!" I really do not think it will sail, but......

09.01.2022 Heard about attack in Istanbul. Captain announced we are not going to spend 2 days there. Going to Canakkale instead. Only going to Istanbul to catch plane.

08.01.2022 18 months ago, it was "Plenty of Time." Now it's getting very close. Thursday, on 'planes for about 22 hours, for lunch in Venice on Friday. Then south through the Adriatic Sea with 2 stops in Croatia and 1 in Montenegro. Turn left at the bottom into the Aegean Sea. 2 stops in Greece and 2 in Turkey, finishing in Istanbul. I will try to give some updates but that depends on how good the Wi-Fi is. Should be back at the end of the month!!

07.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all readers of my blog page. I've added "The Bamboo Jungle" for you to read.

04.01.2022 Here we go again! Audrey decided she liked cruising, so we are taking an 8 day P&O cruise around New Caledonia. A neighbour is going to drive us to Dubbo airport on Monday morning and we are supposed to board the ship in the afternoon in Sydney. Oh well, she needs someone to carry the bags, so I am going!!

02.01.2022 Just about settled into the new residence and back to normal routine - almost. Enough to start writing again and scored a win in 'Aspiring Writers' competition with "Super Sleuth Stu" a tongue-in-cheek who dun it, based in an art gallery. I've just loaded it onto my blog page at http//windsors1.blogspot.com.au for anyone who wants a quick read.

02.01.2022 Contracts exchanged today - Celebrations!!! Homeless on July 6th - Whoops!! New place in progress but losing time through rain - OMG!! WTF - the X-trail fits a mattress in the back - just need somewhere to park!!

01.01.2022 The panic merchants are in full cry. We have a relative who has to fly to work in the UK in a few days. He has been told if he wears a P2 dust and aerosol mask during the flight, he can start work as soon as he arrives. If not, he will have to wait 14 days before he can work. We tried several retail outlets in Dubbo, to find they have all been cleaned out. - We were told, one 'gentleman' bought several boxes from one store to send to friends in China!!! What can we do? ... I guess you cannot legislate for stupidity, or greed. See more
