25.01.2022 I’m really missing getting my hands dirty at compost hub But I’m trying to be productive with my time and I’m giving this free online course from Future Learn about food systems a goWhat better time to reflect on what we eat than now? I’ll keep you posted on what I learn, and maybe we can even talk about it together...someday #food #learning #lockdown #upskill

25.01.2022 Compost Hub - Coronavirus Precautions Update 21 March 2020 - https://mailchi.mp//compost-hub-coronavirus-precautions-up From today, the Compost Hub site will be kept locked and will not be accessible via the combination lock. As a committee we have decided to temporarily suspend all operations at the Town Hall Compost Hub in the interests of community safety, effective immediately.

22.01.2022 We plan to take basic precautions to avoid the spread of COVID-19 https://mailchi.mp//kensington-compost-hub-coronavirus-pre Hard surfaces at the Hub will be sanitised on a regular basis. Please take the following steps:... 1. Wash your hands with soap and water before and after visiting the Hub 2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth 3. Use hand sanitiser before and after touching any of the Hub equipment 4. If you show any symptoms, or have been around anyone who has the virus, don't visit the Hub at all (and follow official advice)

17.01.2022 I popped in this afternoon to check on the compost and was super excited to see it’s still pumping out plenty of heat! #compost #zerowaste #kensington3031

17.01.2022 We love our neighbours but if you are in a lockdown postcode, please stay away from the compost hub until your lockdown is lifted. We can’t wait to see you soon!

15.01.2022 Have you visited the Town Hall Compost Hub recently and lost your Bokashi Bin filter trays? Compost collector not functioning like it should? They are on the ground next to bay #1 waiting for you to collect!

07.01.2022 Compost Hub - COVID-Safe Reopening Plan - https://mailchi.mp/12/compost-hub-covid-safe-reopening-plan We are currently working with the City of Melbourne to finalise our COVID-safe plan for reopening and expect to be opening as soon as possible.

07.01.2022 Please remember: remove stickers from fruit before adding to the compost pile! Fruit labels, tags, ties and rubber bands are NOT compostable :( These are considered contaminants in compost and will not break down into soil #compost #RotOrNot?

06.01.2022 The Kensington Town Hall Compost Hub is reopening from Saturday 12 December 2020! - https://mailchi.mp//calling-local-composters-we-need-your- Please check the updated instructions and help keep our community COVIDSafe

05.01.2022 How to help 3031 Hi all, Hope you are all well and keeping safe. As you are aware there is a lot happening in our community.... Many people are asking how they can help: After a joint meeting with community organisations today who are on the ground, have connections to the residents in the towers the following information arose. Police approach As there has been a lack of a plan, police have gone in without cultural sensitivity (or not from this area) and a proper brief. This we hope will be addressed - the language they are using is punitive rather than of care. United Nations armies go in with different outfits - maybe police can not have visible guns etc. Also police lights are on all night. Many of these residents are already traumatised - this approach creates more pain and suffering. So email appropriate ministers, police force to ask for care and compassion and education about cultural sensitivities. Understanding these police have a difficult task. Access There is no co-ordinated plan for access to deliver food/items to residents Process for people to access emergency care, medicines etc. A meeting is planned for 4pm - hopefully this will be addressed. Distribution Contact points of people to approach to co-ordinate the distribution of products is required. Many donations are being received but getting them through the 'chain of command' is slow as there seems to be no process. Food Limited food has reached residents in the two days Food delivered has passed expiry dates, not culturally sensitive This may have changed in last few hours. Wellbeing Drug withdrawal Retraumatisation Punitive language Length of time Could be for longer than 5 days Language Messages are being relayed in English throughout the site - and not being translated - hopefully this will change. WHAT TO DO Send messages of hope Donate to reputable culturally sensitive organisations who have operated there for many years - not just now Drop off the following items to the Venny Inc - nappies, sanitary products, baby formula, chargers for mobile phones, non perishable food items, fresh food Donate to the Venny Plus link below: https://docs.google.com//1B9T946WniqBbqvwVVO-52UxqRh/edit Thank you

02.01.2022 While we would argue that composting is a ‘care giving’ of the planet, we’re going to close up again until further notice. Please do your bit for the community and stay at home. Can’t wait to hang out at the end of all this. #kensington3031 #compost #coronavirus #stayathome
