18.01.2022 Saturday morning Junior Competition is being planned by the NEJTA to begin its Spring season on the 15th August. Pencil in this date! There is a lot of work to be done to make this happen, as well as waiting to understand what the guidelines will be regarding spectator numbers, social distancing, clubhouses, cleaning protocols and contact tracing requirements. Importantly, we still have to wait for a return to play approval from our local council. Please keep checking your emails for player information.

In accordance with new stage 4 lockdown restrictions, announced by the State Premier this afternoon and under instruction from the Darebin Council, it is with great sadness that our courts have to close. Nets will be taken down and the booking system will be closed from 6pm today. Stay safe everyone, we will get through this and we will reopen.... We can't wait to see you all again at the club. 15.01.2022 Sending our congratulations to life members of the club, George and Shirley Fielding, who this week have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary! What a fantastic and very special achievement. George and Shirley are very much valued for their enormous contribution to the club for many, many years. They were both long time playing members, George was President for many years and Shirley was a long standing Treasurer. They both contributed in numerous roles around the club and helped to make it the great club it is today. The Fielding family of 16 children, were also members of the club. Sending well wishes to you both.

13.01.2022 Stage 4 restrictions are now in place for Darebin and Metro Melbourne. From 5am to 8pm, you can leave your home for exercise, for up to one hour per day but ...within 5km of your home. You can still walk cycle run do yoga or a workout at our local parks and reserves. This can be by yourself or with one friend, housemate or family member. All indoor and outdoor sport facilities are now closed, this includes tennis, golf and bowls clubs. Playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment, skate parks, gyms, leisure centres and pools remain closed. 11.01.2022 NEW RULES FOR CLUB ENTRY AS OF THE 9TH JULY: The Tennis club can open for casual play / court hire for members of the same household sharing 1 court or for 2 people only, per court, if you are from different households. Players must keep 1.5m social distancing, practice good hygiene at all times, sanitise your hands on arrival and do not share equipment. Remember to bring your own drink bottle. No spectators allowed. Players and coaches only. ... Front gate to be kept closed. Courts MUST be booked online. When booking courts, please ensure you use the add player button to record the details of the person you are playing with. Player details are mandatory for everyone for contact tracing purposes. Coaching is still allowed for members of the same household or one on one coaching sessions. Clubhouse amenities including toilets must remain closed. Stay safe and respect each other and the club.

10.01.2022 Vale Shirley Fielding - a dedicated and much admired Life Member of the Keon Park Tennis Club. It is with great sadness we inform our members and community of the passing of Shirley Fielding. Shirley will be well known and remembered by many for her lovely smile, her generosity, her family of 16 children, 34 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, as well as her tennis abilities and the wonderful legacy she bestowed on our club. Shirley was actively involved in the club for... over 40 years and was valuable in her roles as committee member and long time treasurer, for the progression of the wonderful facilities we all enjoy today, as well as helping to set the culture of inclusivity and family friendly. Shirley will be truly missed. Our deepest condolences to Shirley's husband of 70 years, George and the whole Fielding family. Shirley's funeral is planned for Tuesday 13th April, at 2.00pm. More details to follow. The Fielding family have allowed us to share a loving photo of Shirley and George, a true doubles pairing. 04/08/1930 - 04/04/2021

Your support is most appreciated. Order forms can be dropped into the clubhouse tomorrow / Saturday between 8 am to 12pm or send them to us by email or text. Orders close next week on the 25th March. Buns will be delivered fresh on Wednesday 31st March.

We now await the guidelines and approval to open safely from Darebin Council. They will work closely with all clubs in Darebin over the coming days. Watch this space for updates.
