25.01.2022 So after a year and a bit of no posting, I thought I should get back into the page. At the end of 2018, my husband and I decided it was time to sell all stock, put the property on the market and lock the gate due to the drought we were facing. Since then we have moved a few times and had some rain on the place (still need more). We are still off farm due to work and drought, but have moved closer to the property (2 hours) and are aiming to remove the place off the market and ...get back on track with our original goal!! The move into town has been bitter sweet. Living nextdoor to so many people is not my cup of tea (lucky we work long hours so are never really here). However, since being in town I have had access to the one resource we lacked on the farm... WATER! This has allowed me to spread my wings and create a small garden in a greenhouse (thanks to my husband's building skills!), to try to perfect my veggie growing. I have also recently brought a pressure canner so I can have a go at preserving excess veggies and meat for future anticipation of moving back to our property and becoming as self-sustainable as possible! 24.01.2022 Our little speckled park x bull "Jasper" is growing into his skin quite nicely! Hes such a lovely boy, nice and quiet and has a personallity to boot!

21.01.2022 Finally after a few years of stationary existence. Hubby and I got her going. This is me with my concentration/holy hell face trying to figure it all out. Low and behold we stumbled upon another issue with the old girl with oil squirting out of a filter housing... so once we figure out what's going on there I'll be back to learning how to become an awesome excavator mess maker!

20.01.2022 With the border restriction relaxed, we can once again head to the farm on days off! Time to complete some check-list items and catch up on some much needed R&R!

20.01.2022 With all these Covid-19 restriction being lifted I am eagerly awaiting confirmation if restriction in crossing the border between QLD and NSW will be eased as I m itching to get back to the farm to start improvements and repairs!!! Roll on the good times and baby steps towards returning to the farm full time!!!

14.01.2022 So its getting super dry out here. No different to anywhere else with this drought. However we are lucky enough to have Kurrajong trees around the property to help get us through these tough times.

12.01.2022 First ever attempt at what I hope will be a regular thing for us when we return to the farm... plum jam... I may have messed up the recipie halfway through by adding too much sugar and lemon juice (supposed to be making a half recipe, my bad). But it still tastes good and I am feeling pretty proud of myself right about now! Can't wait for it to cool and to start the strawberry jam after I clean my gear!!!

12.01.2022 Such a peaceful night on the farm. The moon was amazing!

11.01.2022 Baby fever has hit the farm this week with 8 new bacon seed additions! All our older sows are due to farrow in the coming month so we are on high alert watching for any signs of nesting or labour. As usual it was one of or eldest sows to surprise us first! Love babies!!!!

10.01.2022 Time to split the tractor to figure out why the clutch won't work in this old girl. Once that is fixed, we then have to figure out why she won't start! Machinery!

10.01.2022 So its been an eventful week of babies here at the farm! Our beautiful mini foxies had two cute baby boys, we have welcomed 2 single female kids and 2 sets of male kids and most recently, a beautiful hereford heifer!!! Baby paradise!

09.01.2022 So kidding season is beginning for another year. So far we witnessed the birth of a beautiful doeling kid and on my morning run I stumbled upon this happy little family! Even thoigh its horribly dry here and nature is being cruel, I can't help but sit in awe and watch these fresh bundles of life explore their surroundings (and maybe steal cuddles when mums not watching). Love my job!

04.01.2022 It's baby watch for us again here at "Kerry Cottage" with a few of our nannies starting to drop the next generation! Very happy, very healthy and VERY cute bundles here!

02.01.2022 After a terrible week of loosing one of our recently purchased heifer that was not supposed to be in calf to calving, we decided to preg test our mob and are amazed to find 2 more are in calf... so now we are on extensive calving duties to make sure that these two get extra special care and observation to avoid any further losses... soon we will have some new mooie additions to our farm! heres hoping for a swift and safe calfing fir these two ladies! P.S. check out our little speckled bull calf growing up... hes loosing his red and turning into your typical speckled bull calf in love!!!! Oh he has a gum leaf on his head as well... extra CUTE!

01.01.2022 We are back home yet again. The weeks are rolling into one. But I can safely say, this carona virus is one that I don't think I want to cure anytime soon. This place is medicinal! Tommorrow will be working on the excavator to try and get the old girl up and running so we can start some projects on the property. Loving and living life right now.
