25.01.2022 April 25 is ANZAC Day. ANZACis the acronym formed from the initial letters of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. This was the formation in which Australian and New Zealand soldiers in Egypt were grouped before the landing on Gallipoli in April 1915. Each year I paint an original piece on ANZAC Day as my personal tribute to the fallen servicemen, servicewomen and serviceanimals and their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The red poppies represent the men and wo...men, and the purple poppies represent the animals. I have created an ANZAC Inspired Collection of homewares and personal accessories from these original paintings, so they can be loved and appreciated by those who feel drawn to them too. Please stay tuned for my 2021 ANZAC Day painting. Lest We Forget Available from www.kerrysandhuart.com.au or @thevillagecentralmarkets , Darwin. See more
23.01.2022 #flashbackfriday April 2016, and my son was attending a one on one workshop with the amazingly talented @linzicarterartist Linzi encouraged me to also have a go at painting, and so this was the result... 'Tree of Life' .... The tree of life means that you are not an island, but are deeply connected to the world around you and dependent on it for your ability to grow and thrive. It is also a symbol of family and connection to your ancestors. . I have always had a strong connection to the tree of life, so it just seems so fitting that this was the painting that started me on my artistic journey of life! . So much has happened in these 6 years. I have met so many amazing artists who have inspired and supported me along the way and for that I am #forevergrateful. . For anyone who is also starting on their artistic journey of life, I hope that this post gives you belief that it can happen for you too. Best of luck and many blessings to you all.
14.01.2022 So what inspires me? My answer is 'how long is a piece of string?' There is no one thing that inspires me, but everything inspires me, including life itself! . You will notice this if you look at all of my paintings I have done over the years... they are very eclectic, yet so very close to my heart. ... . Music features in about 95% of my paintings, and most of my paintings are named after songs. Over the years, I have always received songs, or movie quotes as messages for either myself or other people, so I have taken this 'quirk' of mine and I use this to tap into the lyrics, and/or emotion of a song for each painting. . Sometimes I want to paint a song based on these feelings, other times the perfect song will come to me when I am thinking about the painting, or even if 100 songs have been played during the day, the perfect song is the only one I actually 'hear' and resonate with. . Sometimes the titles are obvious to the painting, other times the title is very obscure because something resonated with me (or the recipient of the painting) and it seems quite unrelated to the painting, but so very related at the same time. It also creates a great talking point! . I am also inspired by our beautiful Mother Earth with her amazing colours. The 10 paintings I have posted here are all places in Australia (with the exception of one that was from my imagination), that have just blown me away with the amazing scenery and colours. All are named after songs See more
