24.01.2022 "I think the shadiness of your campsite is a real selling point." Thanks for this feedback from a recent camper. Exclusive shade and an intimate setting is the advantage you have when camping in a tent at Kerry Valley Secret. As the temperature moves up more family groups with tents take advantage of the flexibility a tent offers. Groups with caravans and trailers will have even more room to use in the shaded area as they will be set up on the flat area above.

23.01.2022 Soaking up the joys of spring....... bright red and succulent Native Cherries (Exocarpus cupressiformis) have been prolific this year. This little bush tucker gem is a root parasite that often suckers from it's roots to form clumps of seemingly separate shrubs or small trees. The fruit is quite small, has the seed on the outside and has a slightly astringent taste.

22.01.2022 I wonder which was sweeter .....the mulberries or the cool swim after? Thanks to our campers during the week for sharing these photos.

20.01.2022 It's a hard job but someone has to do it :). Oiling the Stockyard Creek campsite picnic table and checking out the route for a new walk.

19.01.2022 The Lamington National Park wilderness is close and Kerry Valley Secret is the perfect place for intrepid bushwalkers to gather overnight before heading off on an adventure. The Stinson Crash site is a hard steep walk experienced bushwalkers in SE Qld always have on their bucket list. The start of the walk is about 25km away which makes staying at Kerry Valley Secret the perfect way to get a group going early - and the perfect place for a group to return to rather than driving home after the walk. We popped up there over the long weekend and spring has definately sprung in the Lamington National Park with flowers everywhere.

17.01.2022 Last year Kerry Valley Secret hosted a very special group called First Hike Project in Brisbane. While the paddocks in 2020 are now looking much greener we thought you might enjoy a peek at the walking tracks that are available to our campers exclusively.

17.01.2022 It is amazing what a bit of rain can do! Our Stockyard Creek Campsite is in full bloom at the moment.

08.01.2022 Happy Easter from Kerry Valley Secret. The Stockyard Creek campsite just looked peaceful, still and beautiful today. Look closely and you can see the reflections of the clifftop gums in the water. The Red Kamala is in a show off phase at the moment, covered in it's characteristic red powdery seed capsules.

06.01.2022 BOOKINGS ARE OPEN :) .......With luck on our side it looks like restrictions may be easing soon. Natural self isolation is a key feature of our campsites and all going well the Queensland Government indicates that we may be able to start camping from June 12! So..... bookings are open! We are now taking bookings from June 12, 2020 on the understanding that that the Queensland Government Stage 2 will proceed as planned. Should this plan be changed in anyway we will be followin...g the official guidelines issued from State and Federal Governments. 04.01.2022 Mulberry delights...... lucky campers this week can stop for a snack on the way to the swimming hole....yum!

03.01.2022 Soaking up the joys of spring....... we thought it might be nice to keep sharing some of the beautiful things happening around the Stockyard Creek Campsite at the moment. Today's joy is found in the RED KAMALA fruit. These fruit develop to have a red powder on the outside which is often used in natural dyes.

03.01.2022 Lamington National Park wilderness is close by to Kerry Valley Secret. Yesterday it was a little misty in the mountains but we went for a jaunt up to Westrays Grave. Westrays Grave is a historical walk that follows the Christmas Creek through the Lamington National Park to the grave of Jim Westray. Jim Westray was one of three survivors of the famous Stinson Crash on the 19th February 1937. Westray went for help but unfortunately died along the way. The path follows a well w...orn but unofficial track along the banks the babbling Christmas Creek and passes through Piccabean forest and vine rainforest to the gravesite. On a hot day walkers can refresh in one of the many waterholes along the way. This is a half day (3-4 hour round trip) walk of medium difficulty. The track is uneven, rocky, has exposed tree roots on the path and entails some scrambles over rock through gullies. There are no large hills but the walk to the grave is gradually uphill and the walk back a gradual downhill.

03.01.2022 We love welcoming First Hike Project in Brisbane to Kerry Valley Secret! It is always a very special weekend.

02.01.2022 A few photos to remind everyone of some the delights to be found at Kerry Valley Secret. It will all still be here at the end of this public health emergency ready for you to enjoy. Please stay safe everyone and we will see you (physically) on the other side. Take Care,... Sally and Michael See more
