23.01.2022 SA Country Fire Service has issued a Total Fire Ban for the Mount Lofty Ranges on Wednesday, April 15. CFS State Duty Commander Brett Loughlin said it is a highly dynamic time in South Australia with the COVID-19 pandemic, however the public should be reassured CFS crews are ready to respond to any emergency. People living in the Mount Lofty Ranges need to review their Bushfire Survival Plans with current directions in mind. ... We have been in talks today with SA Police and SA Health about how people should respond if a bushfire starts near them, Mr Loughlin said. If you have been directed to self-isolate and there is a bushfire emergency near you, you are allowed to leave your property to travel to your closest Bushfire Safer Place available on the website. ONLY LEAVE IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. You must not congregate with others at that Bushfire Safer Place. IF IT IS NOT SAFE TO LEAVE solid buildings provide protection from bushfire. If people are found to leave their property without a valid reason, they will be investigated by police. For more information about bushfires, call the Bushfire Information Line on 1800 362 361. For information about COVID-19 and bushfires, call the COVID-19 Information line on 1800 253 787.

21.01.2022 Now that the weather is heating up, and we are getting closer to fire season, this is a timely reminder that if our trucks don't fit, we can’t go in. Please ensure your properties meet the following guidelines: * A minimum 3.5 metres wide * A minimum 3.5 metres high * Wide turning clearances... * Large turning entrances * Bridges and pipes rated to 15 tonne weight loading. Summer is almost here, be bushfire smart, be bushfire safe, and make room for us! Post & Photo Credit: Hay Flat CFS

08.01.2022 A big shoutout to Matt from Adelaide 4x4 for the outstanding job fitting our new lights.

08.01.2022 Please make sure you change your batteries & test your smoke alarm this weekend. Active smoke alarms have proven themselves to save lives and limit the extent of damage caused by fire & smoke by alerting residents or neighbours early in the growth phase of a fire.

08.01.2022 We stop to remember those who perished and those whose lives were changed forever following the Ash Wednesday fires. We’ve had a cooler summer so far this year but that doesn’t mean we’ve not had fires or had days where conditions were unfavourable. With warm weather expected for the rest of the week please stay vigilant & prevent fires starting.

04.01.2022 Today is International Fire Fighters Day. International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) is observed on May 4. It was instituted after a proposal was emailed out across the world on January 4, 1999 due to the deaths of five firefighters in tragic circumstances in a wildfire at Linton in Victoria, Australia. May 4th (St Florian’s Day). May 4 is the feast day of St Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. St Florian was the first known commander of one firefighting squad in the Roman... Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which firefighters all over the world share even today. Firefighters in most European countries celebrate their day on 4th of May as a ‘Day of Fire Service’ as well as St Florian’s Day. This date is also known as St Florian’s Day worldwide and has been tradition for more than 150 years in Europe.

03.01.2022 SAAS has changed a number of its processes and procedures as part of our response to manage the spread of COVID-19. Whilst you may see us doing some things diff...erently, the safety of our community and our personnel remains our top priority. Our Triple Zero (000) call takers are asking patients who call a series of additional questions to ascertain if they fit the clinical or epidemiological criteria for COVID-19. Our on-road crews are also donning extra protective gear. These measures may mean that we may take a few seconds longer to get from the ambulance to you. You may feel the urge to rush up to our vehicle, but remember to keep your social distance unless otherwise advised. We’ve got to make sure we’re ready to respond not only to COVID-19, but to every day emergencies.

03.01.2022 Did you know SAAS receives almost 700 Triple Zero calls a day. Thankfully they’re not all emergencies and that’s why we’ve introduced more support for the least... urgent calls, with a team of experienced paramedics who can do detailed clinical assessments over the phone and recommend the most appropriate care for each patient. Clinical Telephone Assessment offers non-urgent patients a clinical assessment sooner and streamlines their access to a wider range of care options.
