08.01.2022 Where's your favourite piece of street art? There's been an 'explosion' of public art pieces popping up around Perth’s buildings, laneways and everything in... between. Street art is not just a big thing in Perth's urban inner city areas, some of WA's country towns have their own colourful and captivating designs and murals as well. Perth-based urban designer Peter Ciemitis says we are 'punching above our weight". If we travel oversees it’s easy to walk a few kilometres in London, or Tokyo, or Rome," he said. "In Perth, you can barely walk 100 metres without some expression of public art". Paul Chamberlain is the Chairman of FORM, an independent, non-profit organisation in Perth that’s dedicated to creativity. What people are observing is the re-democratisation of art, he said. In the past, everyone went to art galleries to see art but gradually people are starting to see works appear on the street.
