24.01.2022 We love our Cowboys. JT is an athlete god - Jake too. Fantastic launch of the 2016 season ! Thank you to sponsors Dreamtime Training for inviting me. Congratulations to Laurence Lacini for being inducted into the Lifetime membership Hall of Fame - well deserved. But do the Cowboys really need to leave Thuringowa ? This is the Cowboys home. Door knocking more than 2,500 homes in the Upper Ross - I have found very few people support the new stadium. They are afraid of the affec...t on businesses, especially brothers, the current stadium sitting empty... and this huge expenditure when our city, state and country is in debt ? The reality is of coarse that, if we dont shoot for it - well loose the investment in our city - Government wont put it toward other more critical issues .... the $$ will be again sucked up by the south. Heres to our second premiership !!! Go Cowboys ! See more

24.01.2022 Thank You Thank You ! To all the wonderful Upper Ross people and Bands and NZ dancers and all performers ; and Stall holders that came out yesterday for ROCK THE UPPER ROSS ! Such a wonderful community day ! and plenty more of it - if I am elected on March 19th. "Entertainment in the Parks" - will occur once a month in a different park in the Upper Ross with the aim of high quality accessible music for all people in our community.... not being told we have to go to the Strand for our rates money spent on entertainment. Fantastic community day ! Thats the start - of building community spirit in our beautiful Upper Ross ! ( waiting on pro. photos taken - but had too many emails asking me to post on it... so these are my mothers photos.)

23.01.2022 Our community need to spend money in our local community. We need to support our LOCAL businesses - this means JOBS for locals and has an economic benefit that far surpasses spending our money with big International companies, where the money leaves town. This is an ad I did for my Uncle Ross McCartin and my Aunt Jo. Check out McCartins !

22.01.2022 How exciting ! Gudguda Reference Group - who are working with Max employment on a work for the dole program along Riverway, needed an office. Leah Saltner welcome to the Action office ! Lets turn Riverway into a 2nd STRAND ! Community - thats what Im here for - community - everyone - a place where all people can come and share there Upper Ross concerns and wish list ! Come and visit me at Shop 3 / 1219 Riverway drive next to Upper Ross Hotel. Community BBQ - Thurs. 11th 5- 7pm. Were starting a community revolution!

22.01.2022 Happy Valentines Day everyone ! Today at the Willows market however - the topic was not LOVE but RIVERWAY DRIVE ! Tania Bowcock had her boy Brydon, hit by a car doing 70 km near the dam; Shane Kuhn used to be able to leave for work at 7:30 am - and now must leave at 7am due to bottlenecks, Darrly and Judy Winstanley ...William & Judith Idagi..Tim Atkinson ; Cheryl Risho ; Tiger and Glenyis Corrgon ... all sick of waiting to get out of their streets to cross Riverway.. this ...road has a major impact on the lives of every person - every day who lives in the Upper Ross - it is our entry. Like Charlie Manolis said "it is the biggest issue affecting the lives of people in the Upper Ross". Tomorrow I will cc all these people in - on my daily email or phone call to the Minister for Roads, Mark Bailey, calling for the commitment in this years budget to this road. It is what the people want - state, federal or local - I will fight for the peoples needs. Anyone wanting to join in the fight is welcome to attend the ACTION Volunteer meeting in my office, 1219 Riverway Drive - next to Upper Ross Hotel, at 5:30 pm tomorrow Mon. 15th ! See more

21.01.2022 Since opening my office yesterday i have been totally overwhelmed with the members of the Upper Ross community who are so happy to find a "politician" whom they can access. Ive had 37 people today including children come in. Mr Tini is concerned at the closure of Shetland Place road, Childrem, Russell and Carmel Harwas from Rasmussen want a water park and a zoo, and Andrew Deniet from scouts is as concerned as I about young people locking themselves indoors and playing video games - and wants more kids doing canoeing on beautiful Ross River. So much work to be done ! The list is growing... please I need help in the office to get elected and address these issues. Vote for your INDEPENDENT candidate - with an office in the Upper Ross ! Please come on by.

20.01.2022 Every Councillor should have an office in their electorate ! It's all about being accessible to ALL the people. I'm sitting in it now - Saturday - all day. Allan and Margaret, an elderly couple visited me because their gutter needs fixing and they are concerned that when they can't drive - they will have to catch a bus and walk 8 blocks with their groceries... Graeme and Nathan from the caravan park want to expand their business ... shovel ready jobs... Rowena wants a water p...ark for her kids... many other parents with children have said the same thing... Please I need help as an Independent to win - even 1 hour of your time will win votes. Why not pop in to my Action Volunteer meeting this Monday 21st Feb. 5:30-7pm, at m office Shop 3 / 1219 Riverway Drive, next to the Upper Ross - between the laundry and tobacconist or come and meet me this Thursday at my free bbq this Thursday 25th 5-7pm and let's talk about the issues and my action plan for the Upper Ross. 19.01.2022 This morning I was fortunate to join with other Ross River Landcare members who aim to eradicate aquatic weeds like Sagattaria. They address the river connections of the Ross River and adjoining tributes. We were at Framara Park - spectacular ! Our beautiful Ross River simply has so potential for basic care and the development of nature walks, recreational facilities, maybe a public lagoon ... all leading to the Dam. ( Of coarse costings, feasabililty, water recycling all to be done - but I say WHY NOT ?) If you want to find out more about how you can get involved in Landcare fun programs go to FB page CDTLI or Coastal Dry Tropics Landcare website. I have worked with the NQ Dry Tropics before - such an important and successful environmental organisation.

19.01.2022 It is important for us all to remain OPEN. I popped into an amateur boxing competition that Upper Ross resident, Chris Wilcox invited me to. My friends know I close my eyes at violence...But Last night I looked in the eyes of a 13 year old having his brow mopped after being in the ring - and saw a pride...self-esteem... honour.. fulfillment. Our kids need more of this. I learnt poignantly that we must be open to new experiences... ready to listen to new points of view. Only ...then can we truly represent our people - all of them, with their diversity. It was an honour to be at the Police Youth Club Amateur boxing night with some 400 people. So professionally run, so well regulated with safety as the number one priority. And thank you Chris for the opportunity to jump into the ring myself (literally) and speak with the people. Thats why Ill FIGHT for a space for KO GYM to run your excellent program. See more

18.01.2022 Upper Ross residents need to support Upper Ross businesses ! All of my family run local businesses so I empathise with the difficulties faced by small business. Below are: Polly and Maria from Normas Kitchen in the Kelso Shops, Mitch from Ross butchery; Christian from Choc-a-block; Stacy from the Tobacconist; Andrea Beautique Hair; Michelle from the new sewing supplies store and Mitchell from the Baked by Maree Bakery - all of our 3 main sets of shops in the Upper Ross. If I am elected as Councillor I will subsidise a TV, radio, Newspaper and household delivery mail-out promoting all of our local businesses. Did you know there are more than 200 business operators in the Upper Ross ? SUPPORT UPPER ROSS BUSINESSES !

17.01.2022 Dear Friends, It was a huge day yesterday. Thank you so much to all my friends and family and the Residents of the Upper Ross who worked so hard for me and voted. Ha - I even had one person at voting refer to "your team" - no - im not a "team" im just a single independent. But the hearts in the orange shirts were so strong that voters believed we were a "team". I am disappointed we didnt win and that I wont be able to get in and clean up the Upper Ross and fulfill residents visions. But in this one little lifetime - you can only give your very best. I am proud that we did not just sit back and complain about things - but got in and there and fought for change. Just cant win them all. Much love and thank you for your support, Joanne

17.01.2022 Hi Folks, Thought it might be about time to check-in with some of the wonderful people out there who supported me during my campaign for Local Government this year. The monday following election day on the Saturday, I had to return to my law classes and realise I had actually missed 6 weeks of lectures and tutes. It was major catch-up - and I had to really put my head down to ensure I passed - or better on my exams and assignments, which thankfully happened. Now Im writi...ng my Honours thesis which I hand in in December and then hopefully graduate next March with my law degree. You might catch me at my brothers coffee van on Kern Brothers drive or at the netball - earning back the money i owe him from the funds i borrowed for the election. Didnt really fully think about that - but then one would not put oneself out there in such a way - if you did not believe you could win. Sad to see not a lot has been done to fix all those documented infrastructure issues in the Upper Ross - but hey the city is receiving lots of attention. (bit tongue in cheek there) I would have loved to work for the Upper Ross residents. Posted here is a photo of a recent Public Speaking class I taught with the Loam Island Scouts. It was a great experience working with the young people. Thank you again for your support - I notice new views and likes on this page - so thought id better let people know "im still alive". God bless and be safe. Regards, Joanne Keune See more

16.01.2022 This is tooo funny ! My mates from Pimlico high - Jeff Cutmore and Errol Turner - lucky this wasnt taken while they had their speedos on ! Two separate cars pulled over and gave Jeff their phone numbers. Needless to say theyll be back there in the morning. Oh - and for the record - they are doing it for love ! and belief in me (they said) when people know each other as kids, they really know us. Thank you Jeff and Errol - and Cheyanne Gregory - for sending me the photo ! Although the lack of jobs in Townsville is no laughing matter.

16.01.2022 Sometimes you just have to do things yourself ! I mean really what does it take to get a government department out to clean up their building ? Phoned too many times.. gave up - the young Pimlico high friends and I set to work ! Even Franklin, the current resident came out to lend a hand ! He just wants a job too ! Join the line in Townsville Franklin ! For people to take pride in their community - it must look good for a start ! Felt great ! Love a bit of hard outdoor work ! Really really want YOU - the people of the Upper Ross to be my boss !

16.01.2022 I just wanted to say a HUGE THANK you to my volunteers - so many of whom are residents who have come into my office and are now making phone calls, door-knocking and joining the fight for the Upper Ross !! There is just so much to do. Today it was 40 degrees in the heat at James Cook University for the Market day. Too busy to take an FB photo. Myself, as a full time law student, it was fantastic to receive so much support from so many students who live in the Upper Ross ! Thank you especially to Lisa Gullotta and John Keys for standing in the hot sun and dragging tents. Got back to the office and Mr Tini, who lives down the road in Kelso was making phone calls ! I love this job !!!

Be proud to live in beautiful Kelso, Condon, Rasmussen, Pinnacles, Granite Vale and Gumlow -and of the great diversity that we have in our community - as captured in these images.

13.01.2022 I am truly humbled by this whole experience of running for Local Election. Rodney at the BBQ is a resident who came into check out my new office - and now works every day for our fight for the Upper Ross. Leanne and her daughter Richelle live around the corner too. The people on my campaign are all residents or my family and friends. I wish I had a photographer that could have captured the 200 people that we served free sausages too tonight in Front of woolies. It was full on ! I wish i had a brilliant campaign manager - like the teams - just little old me and the love of friends and my strong family. Thank you to all the amazing people we met tonight who were SO encouraging - and so excited to join the fight for the Upper Ross.

13.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who came out for the opening of my office. To my amazing family and friends - where would we all be out with them -and the people who live in the Upper Ross - you just have to love humans - every single one of them.

13.01.2022 I am humbled to meet people like Chris Wilcox and his wife Chole who have turned their shed into a boxing gym on Kelso Drive. He trains these kids- some who ride more than 4 kms on their push bikes for FREE. But how do you turn the young ones in the middle away - because you have no more space. These children - thats why we are all here to make all the childrens lives better. Chriss program gives these young people more discipline... self esteem, mateship.... Please HELP ME - help these young people ! Thats why we are all on this planet - our children. ACTION TEAM meeting Monday night 5:30-7pm, at my office next to the Upper Ross Hotel !

13.01.2022 This afternoon Steve Tredrea "cowboy" , took darling little Remy and I in the horse cart around the Upper Ross, my sign said " Celebrating the bush history of the Upper Ross". Steve wants to open up the old stock routes and see cattlemen muster and walk cattle along the old stock trails to the abattoir ( sorry Buddhists) This morning my mother and I and dear Jeffrey Cutmore - served free sausages and enjoyed meeting the people at the Minimart at the Kelso shops. Thank you LIsa Gullotta and John Keys for bringing out the stage that we will put up tonight. Lucky to have met such wonderful people today. xx

10.01.2022 Thank you Paul Freeman - for sending in these photos of yesterday. And to Margaret from Buunong Avenue who just came into the office to thank us for creating some pride in our community. Be proud to live in beautiful Kelso, Condon, Rasmussen, Pinnacles, Granite Vale and Gumlow -and of the great diversity that we have in our community - as captured in these images.

10.01.2022 I am so proud to be able to support and work with Gudjuda - who last week sent 9 tonne of Pumkins to Sydney; who manage a caravan park - who believe in development through the training and employment of all people in the community. Today I went to the well presented "Re-Defining Townsville lecture series" put on by the Bulletin & JCU - at the Civic Theatre. Of coarse none of our Indigenous people were there. If you want to talk about "galvanising a community" or "collaboration", "innovation and creativity" and "tourism" - lets support Indigenous tourism. I am so proud to have Leah Saltner, who needed a desk for Gudjuda - move into "our" community office. I want all of Townsville to celebrate the richness of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture - possibly the oldest culture on the planet. The time has come !!!

09.01.2022 PINNACLES RECREATION PARK ! Since opening an office I have met such an inspirational and diverse people. Did you know there is an astronomers club that meet at the Quarry in the Upper Ross ? What about the Townsville Rockwheelers mountain bike club ? Horse Educators like "Pete" ? There is just so much potential to open up the Ross River Dam and surrounding lands and together create one of the best outdoor recreation parks in Australia ! We can aim to meet the individual... needs of clubs and all diverse land owners including the traditional owners of the land. Together we can create a shared recreational area that becomes world renowned. And lets look at all the plans and studies that have come before us .. even as far back as one involving Senator Margaret Reynolds - pls. go to my website to read these interesting studies of the Ross River and the users. It would be the boost and change in image that the Upper Ross so needs ! See more
