25.01.2022 Im still getting a lot of people who as soon as they see pixelation, breaking up, "No signal" or "Poor signal" displayed on their TV, start by re-tuning or re-scanning the channels. DONT! If you re-tune when theres no signal, you wont have any channels to refer to. The only time you should do this is when you shift house to a different town or a very different part of town, where there maybe a better transmitter to tune into or if you get notification from the TV stations ...that you should do this. Of course a brand new TV will need tuning, but most will talk you through it on screen. If you have any of the above problems, start by checking the antenna leads are in good order & plugged in correctly to wall outlet & aerial socket of the TV. Loose sockets certainly can be a problem as are poor quality leads. Gently wriggling cables may help identify the problem. Some antenna systems have masthead amplifiers or "boosters" so check that the power supply for the booster is plugged in & switched on & it is usually just slightly warm. If its very hot, switch it off, as theres a serious problem somewhere. Resist the urge to re-tune as the problem is rarely that simple. If the first thing the TV salesman or antenna guy says without asking the right questions is "Re-tune your telly", talk to someone else, like myself. See more

22.01.2022 A lot of people dump their LCD & plasma TVs as soon as they have a problem them & while sometimes theyre not worth repairing, often they are. So, if you have a faulty TV, give me a call or drop me a message & discuss it with me first, rather than just add to the landfill. :)

21.01.2022 Did you know a lot of digital TV reception problems are due to poor quality cables & connections? If youre having pixelation or picture breakup problems, in particular when you turn on lights, fans or other electrical equipment, its a sure sign something is not right in the system. Replacing the fly-lead from the wall socket to TV is often the first place start. But, Ive found a lot cables recently, even brand new off the shelf from most retailers are not up to digital sta...ndards & often are quite expensive because they are "gold plated" etc. even one brand with "beasty" name that cost $40, didnt even have the minimum required shielding for digital. I stopped buying factory made RF fly-leads years ago, as even the reputable brands were giving problems. I can custom make a 2 metre antenna fly-lead for $10 that is better any cable you buy off the shelf. On the other hand you dont need to pay $40-80 for 1 or 2 metre HDMI cable, when I can sell you one for under $20. Its madness to pay that much money when there is no legitimate benefit, other than with some cables if constant abrasion is an issue then a cable with a braided sheath for around $30 may be needed. The old sales pitch "that it gives a better picture" is just not true. Its only when you start needing HDMI over 5 metres, that heavier duty leads are required. See more

19.01.2022 If you need electrical work done on the Tablelands, see these guys. They get 2 thumbs up from me.

18.01.2022 I sometimes wonder if we could really implement a system like this one..... At any rate, I thought it was too funny

18.01.2022 Hi all. Time has come for some changes. It has been nagging at me for quite awhile that the "Kewarra" in the business name is just not right for an Atherton Tablelands business. So Ive registered a new name & will be slowly phasing out the old one over the next couple years. So start getting used to seeing APEX DIGITAL TV SERVICES. I think it will a better name that will be a little less confusing.

17.01.2022 Im planning to do a trip in & around the Mount Surprise, Einasleigh area, from approximately the 25th to the 30th of April. If anyone needs repairs to their satellite TV equipment or require VAST decoders etc. give me a call before the 18th, so I can organize equipment for you. You can contact me on 0427577253, 07 40912966 or email to [email protected]. You can also reply to this post.

11.01.2022 Its touring season again, so Im getting VAST satellite TV kits ready for those who want TV where ever they go in Australia. Currently Im testing smaller, high performance dishes, so I can offer the best possible signal reception for minimal space & reasonable cost. If they come up to standard, then itll mean a dish that performs as well as a 85cm dish at 80cm & the same price. Full VAST satellite kits will start from $650 including education time to show you how to use i...t. I have one excellent 75cm dish left, that I will do at a special price. Within reason, Ill bring the kit to your home & set it up there, but certain conditions will apply. Maybe you purchased a "Bargain Kit" on the internet & havent been able to get the darn thing to work! Well drop me a line & I can either come to you or you come to me & Ill show how it all works. For a reasonable fee, of coarse. Often an hour of instruction will have up & running. If you want to know more about the costs & options available, contact me by private message here, email to [email protected], or call/text to 0427577253. See more

11.01.2022 Going to be really under the hammer this coming week. Off up to Cape York Peninsula to Heathlands Reserve to do some satellite TV work for the QPWS around Tuesday/Wednesday. So that will be something like 20 hours in the saddle there & back. Boy, this will be an experience, as Ive never been that far north driving. Just a pity I wont have the time to tour around.

11.01.2022 Mary Christmas & Happy New year..

07.01.2022 People in Mareeba dont call your antenna guy or re-tune your TV, the transmitter site on Tryconnel Road has gone offline except for the ABC. Should be up & running soon

05.01.2022 Im off to Mount Surprise in the morning. If anyone needs to contact me, then the mobile, 0427577253 will be best for tomorrow. Thursday I will probably be out of mobile reception most of the day, but you can always leave a message. Friday will be unknown. Oh the joys of working in the bush. ;)

03.01.2022 People in Mareeba don't call your antenna guy or re-tune your TV, the transmitter site on Tryconnel Road has gone offline except for the ABC. Should be up & running soon

01.01.2022 My apologies to all around the Mt Surprise, Forsayth, Georgetown area, to do satellite TV repairs & installation. I put out a notice on Facebook saying I would be around you area between the 25-30th of April. It should have read "25-30th of March" which means Ive already been & gone. I will be planning to come up again in roughly 3 weeks. So if you would like any repairs to your TV systems, VAST decoders etc. let me know by calling on 0427577253, emailing on [email protected] or by responding to this post. Ill post a final date as soon as its been worked out

01.01.2022 If you live on the Atherton Tablelands & you have been suffering with your digital TV reception pixelating, breaking up, or do you just get a "No signal" message on screen, if so then give me a call, the solution may be simpler & more cost effective than you think. A lot people are under the assumption that their reception problems are due to recent change overs or "re-stacking" in digital transmissions. In most cases thats just not true. Ive found 5% only of recent issues ...reported lately are caused by transmitters, the rest are caused by antenna system problems or equipment set up. There are some areas where an "Auto channel search" just wont give you the best results. In some areas, doing manual tuning or tricking the Auto tune facility is the only effective way to get the optimum digital reception. In some cases, I have to fit a special in-line filter to tune in certain HD TVs. While were talking tuning your TV, unless you are advised by the Digital Broadcast authority or local TV station to re-tune, resist the urge to re-tune your TV, just because you lost signal. If the transmitter stops transmitting & you re-tune you have no tuning in your TV to work with. How about asking your neighbor first if they have reception. I hope your weekend hasnt been too wet & miserable.

01.01.2022 Watch out for a scam going around at the moment, where "Rachel Butler" (obviously not a normal Nigerian name LOL), approaches businesses to perform work, via emails. Claiming to be in Royal Australian Navy, currently at sea & moving into a new house soon & could I install her TV & sound system. Eventually she works up to the payment to the removalist for some reason is not going through & they wont deliver the equipment. It didnt get any further than this with me, but soon enough they will ask for you to pay the removalist & she will pay you for everything. Big scam, give it a wide berth.

01.01.2022 Finally managed to get further than Mt Surprise. Some very interesting & ruggedly beautiful countryside around Forsayth, Einasleigh, Georgetown etc. Cant wait to get a look around Cobbold Gorge in the future. The Einasleigh Racing club will now be able to watch Sky Racing. Had a look at what Simon & the crew are doing to the Forsayth pub & it looks great! By the way Simon, thanks for giving me a bed & a feed. Ill be planning to head back up in roughly a months time. Ill post dates when it gets closer.
