17.01.2022 An open letter from our Club President and the Kew FC Committee in relation to the Club’s response to the COVID-19 situation To all the faithful Kew Football... Club members, supporters and sponsors, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the entire Kew Football Club community for your ongoing support and understanding as we navigate our way through this truly unprecedented situation working closely alongside the VAFA and AFL Victoria. I would also like to commend our coaches, leaders, players and volunteers for their resilience through a complex and difficult time. The commencement of the 2020 football season has now been delayed until 31 May 2020, and remains subject to ongoing review and further change depending on advice from the government and peak sporting bodies. Whilst I remain optimistic that we will see some footy at Victoria Park in season 2020, we are aware of the fluid nature of this situation. The Committee will continue to follow the advice of the VAFA and AFL Victoria as to when it will be safe to return to club training and other activities. We thank everyone for your patience and understanding. The Club’s highest priority continues to be the health and wellbeing of its players and the Bears community. We are proud to have cultivated a culture of love and care for everyone in and around the footy club, and I certainly don’t expect that to change in the absence of games, training and club functions over the next couple of months. Although perhaps not as much in the physical sense, you are still surrounded by an incredible support network in this great football club - fierce in its loyalty to you all, just as you have been to it for so long. I ask that you consider our community, and continue to pick up the phone and check in on your fellow Bears. The people you love to see at training and on game day, and who show their support throughout the year. Together, you make up the fabric of the club, and together we’ll navigate our way through this season. If there is any way the Kew Football Club can be of support to its loyal members, supporters and sponsors, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me because the entire Committee, playing group, coaching staff and volunteers are here for you. Rest assured, footy’s not going anywhere - the mighty Brutal Bears will be back and ready to go as soon as it is safe to do so.
