08.01.2022 This guy is an overbred fighting cock. This means that he has been bred with too much muscle which would make him slow and awkward in the ring. Cock fighting is a cruel and heartless activity, however we can learn something from this example. More muscle isn't necessarily better for athletic performance.

06.01.2022 Catherine Mann pops in for a cameo appearance this morning for our Functional Strength Circuit Class. On her second attempt she held in perfect alignment inverted on the rings. If you ever get a chance to play on some Olympic rings, it's great fun. See if you can hang inverted with your ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle all in a vertical straight line. Scary at first, but then you will get the 'hang' of it! ;-)

Whether that be dancing, martial arts, yoga or simply playing with grandchildren. Let's hope that the days of striving for the body beautiful soon pass and we can get back to the simple joy of moving!
03.01.2022 Did you know if you have a muscle that is inhibited (for whatever reason) then another muscle (or muscles) will pick up the work load... and it is this muscle that will hurt. For example. Tightness in the back of you neck may be compensation for an inhibited butt muscle. The painful neck will only keep coming back unless you neurologically activate the glute. It's amazing how the body connects and compensates.

03.01.2022 Naps 101 - Best time to take a nap is between 11am-3pm. Get yourself comfortable, phone on flight mode, minimise other distractions. Now set a timer for 20 minutes. Close your eyes and focus on breathing into your belly... slowly. Keep inhale and exhale the same duration. Now when your alarm goes off, take a big breath in, and get straight up. Don't snooze or stay there any longer than 20 minutes. It will cause a hormonal change and your will be one grumpy and groggy person to be around for the next 2 hours. Enjoy your naps
