24.01.2022 IT’S OUT OF THIS WORLD! What a great opportunity for our 10K Science, iSTEM and Science Extension students to have a live Zoom meeting with current NASA Astronaut, Serena Aunon-Chanellor. Serena is a doctor, engineer and an Astronaut. She’s spoke to the students about her education, career path, research and most engagingly her time in space. It was a great opportunity for our students to see where Science can take them. A big thanks to UOW Physics faculty for setting up this meeting. #khsscience #khsistem #uow

17.01.2022 HAPPY NATIONAL PERIODIC TABLE DAY!!! One mans dream 150 years ago is still used daily in our Science classes here at KHS. Russian chemist, Dmitri Mendeleev was the first to organise the chemical elements into a usable format. On February 7th (I know that was yesterday ) we celebrate the work he did 150 years ago. #khsscience

13.01.2022 Happy INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE. Women play such a crucial role in the scientific breakthroughs we all take for granted, whether it be aerospace, conservation biology, climate change or stopping COVID-19, women are everywhere along the way. There’s never been a better time for young women to follow a career in Science. If you’re interested as to where Science can take you, ask your Science teacher or pop into the staffroom and see Mr McKay. #khsscience #WomenInSTEM #womeninscience

05.01.2022 IT’S YARN TIME in Mr Smith’s 8A Science class, as the students participated in a traditional yarning circle. Studying Space, the students were asked to get in touch with the Universe by bringing in a special item that best describes them to discuss with their peers. It’s a great way for students to learn about aboriginal culture this NAIDOC Week. #khsscience #khsistem
