20.01.2022 For the many enquiries we received on West Harbour's Bethan North injury - we received this from her yesterday: " To everyone involved at Kiama Sevens, I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you to everyone that assisted me whilst I was injured on Saturday.... I unfortunately sustained a broken leg whilst playing for West Harbour woman’s (versing ACT) but the support and assistance provided by everyone involved was amazing. My coach is also my fiancé and he is equally as grateful for how well it was all handled. I’m a registered nurse and a trainee paramedic so it was very strange to be on the other side of the stretcher but I have a greater appreciate for the kindness and professionalism I experienced from everyone. I also want to say thank you to the paramedics that were on site and wondered if you had a contact for them or could pass in how grateful I am for their assistance. 19.01.2022 The Kiama Sevens tournament for 2021 has been officially sanctioned and will proceed under strict conditions as required by relevant authorities. While all efforts are being made to deliver a successful tournament this will be subject to the current federal and state COVID-19 restrictions. Your patience and understanding in this matter is most appreciated. We reserve the right to cancel or vary any aspect of the 2021 Kiama Sevens tournament.... Final call on tournament go-ahead will be announced 27.1.21

06.01.2022 One of my proudest moments in rugby was witnessing Sam Taylor having a run with his Grenfell Panthers last Saturday at the Morgans Kiama Sevens. Sam’s 70m try drew the loudest cheer ever heard at the Showground in the Kiama Sevens 48 year history - only to be beaten moments later when Sam converted his own try. The streaming view of Sam’s try and conversion has made its way around the world with the comment that is what rugby is about mentioned more than a few times. ... As with every great story there is always the opposite side of the coin, unfortunately this is one we would rather not have heard told. Sam and his father Nigel were involved in a single car accident on their return to their hometown of Caragabal on Tuesday. Sam is currently in Canberra Hospital ICU recovering from some very serious injuries. For confidential reasons I will not elaborate. Grenfell Panthers, Kiama Sevens, NSWRU and RA are all working together to assist Nigel and Sam through this difficult time. Our prayers and best wishes go out to Sam and Nigel.
