21.01.2022 ~ Short Share time this Saturday ~ Sometimes I've caught myself regretting that I haven't kept my body as strong and fit as it was five years ago, or even a year ago, especially because it was a long journey to see my body positively. .... But that's part of why it changed: because I was working to be more accepting. And a bunch of other reasons: because I'm a human. . And here I am (that's not me in the pic, but trust me, I'm here on the other side of cyberspace). . I haven't made a human. My body has just changed. For now. And it will change again. And again. And I'll practice loving it then, too. You do have permission to enjoy your body as it is right now. It is enough.



20.01.2022 ~ The power is in the practice. ~ . This is true for most things, and worth keeping in mind when trying to develop a skill. . This asana (posture) I'm demonstrating here is called Crow Pose (Kakasana). ... . Hands are planted on the mat, knees rest upon the upper arms, and feet lift up. Those are not the cues I'd give to teach it though. It's valuable to break it down even more and it's a fun one to practise. . 17.01.2022 What have you been doing for yourself lately to lovingly lift your spirit? . I've finally been heading out for daily walks.... . To be honest, the pattern was trigged by that recent string of online shopping. . The deliveries actually arrived at the post office daily for a few days (there may or may not be more to come ;) ) and I knew they were small packages so I figured I'd walk. . It doesn't matter how you start or where you start, what matters is that you do :) . Although I don't spend every moment right now floating on air, the fresh air lifts my mood so much. . If you can't stroll safely at the moment, do care for yourself in another way. It doesn't have to be yoga, meditation, or martial arts, or HIIT training - although these come from me, your friendly personal trainer and yoga therapist, highly recommended. *no the pic isn't me but I love those tights. . Are you trying mindfulness, a podcast, a book, a different ingredient in your meal? . Engage in something for which the future you - or your childhood self - would give thanks. 15.01.2022 Yes! In class the other week I emphasised this point. Clothes are to fit our bodies, not the other way around. I haven't been pregnant like this beautiful parent, and yet I've had to buy completely different sizing compared to 18 months ago. ... Without this understanding (of this fit), I might feel overwhelming negativity in harsh juxtaposition to a simple curiosity that yoga teaches, and how would that serve me? I haven't always recognised this. I'm grateful for this shift. You are worthy just as you are. Appreciate your body. Appreciate your being. You're a being who deserves this.

I'm grateful for the beautiful sunshine today and having relocated my thermals to wear under a long, comfy dress. It's a legging-free day and that's a fun change. . 09.01.2022 In addition to our 8 human faces, we had 5 fur faces make an appearance tonight in Online Restorative Yoga during our 8:15pm Wednesday weekly small-group class. The class definitely had the Floof (featured below, posing after class) stamp of approval. There are 3-4 human places not yet nabbed for next week. 09.01.2022 This raises such a valid point I've been reflecting on for a while. . Society demands a pass for gaining weight. Or having stretch marks. Or having a certain shape. etc. etc. etc. I've had stretch marks since I was 12 and as an adult I've been size 6 to 16. . It's actually fine to just gain weight. Just because. ... . And this past year I did, again, gain a lot of weight. It's been a long time since I've done that. . I personally know I have a pass right now. But it's an invisible one. I'll post about it some time. It's not that uncommon. And it's not pregnancy even though it looks like it. . Society shouldn't require me to need that pass. . I've instead focussed on loving myself as I am regardless of my changing body - whether I am losing, gaining or maintaining weight. I'm thankful I've been working on this for a long time, too. . Stuff the pass. I'm past that. . Whether I feel like stuffing my face, or stuffing my body under a doona, or strutting my stuff ... I do and I will. . PS. 07.01.2022 So much mobility and strength! Almost literally walking on air. The hyperextension of the elbows at the end freaked me out though. Keep those joints safe, folks, especially if you're hypermobile.

Enjoy unwinding from your day and restoring a sense of balance in body and mind. Don't let a busy household stop you. If you can press pause on your life for 60 minutes, you can be in your comfiest clothes (or jammies), you can even turn on the fake background on Zoom (Hawaii, anyone?) or let your fur (or real) baby join you on the mat.
