25.01.2022 Early Learning Matters Week is from the 3rd - 7th August 2020. Sometimes we don’t always get to show our families all the amazing things that we do in just one day. This week we are sharing some of the great experiences that the children are involved in on a daily basis. Munch and Move is a NSW health initiative that supports the healthy development of children birth to five years by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced screen time. The Possums were able to... develop their balance, co ordination and team work as they put their bodies to the test and moved a ball up and over their body and down through their legs to get it from one end of the line to the other. This experience also allowed them to talk to their peers, develop their concentration and strengthen their fundamental movement skills. Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn - Fred Donaldson

24.01.2022 There are many benefits to play, including learning and developing new skills, developing language and social skills and learning to regulate emotions.

24.01.2022 Chrildren learn best when they are interested and involved in the process of discovery. This is best completed through play, where children are able to initiate and direct their own understanding and knowledge building. Not only does play based learning encourage children to engage more deeply but it also encourages children to develop their own identity and agency.

22.01.2022 Those moments that we, as adults rush through and complain that we’re running late, are actually the moments that your child could be learning, developing and deepening their understanding of the world around them. Take the time, slow down and remember what’s important!! You can never get that moment back!

19.01.2022 Thank you to all our families and children who wore their jeans proudly today to help raise awareness for children born with genetic conditions.

19.01.2022 Early Learning Matters Week is from the 3rd - 7th August 2020. While we try to show our families all the amazing things we do throughout the day, it is hard to showcase all the fabulous things that can get done in just one day. Early Learning Matters week also gives educators a platform to shine a spotlight on WHY we do the things we do. Last week the Koalas were interested in the rain as our week started off a little wet and gloomy. We extended this interest through our art ...and craft and each day explored all the components of rain from the clouds, the need for an umbrella, the fun of jumping in puddles in our gumboots and the shape of a single raindrop. The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you - B.B King

18.01.2022 We are the elders of tomorrow, hear our voice. National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day 2020.

16.01.2022 ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that, hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.’ - Martin Luther King Jr. Here at Kids of the Caste we provide opportunities for our children to discover and learn about all the worlds culture, because we believe it is through understanding and empathy that love and respect can grow.

16.01.2022 It’s time to check your Centrelink App to update any changes and notifications of income.

Our educators will continue to maintain strict hygiene and sanitation within the centre and any child who is showing even slight symptoms will be sent home and asked not to return until they have a clearance from their doctor. As always, if you have travelled or been in contact with anyone who has travelled in the past 14 days, if you have any symptoms or if you have had any contact with someone who is suspected or Confirmed to have Covid-19, please DO NOT attend the centre. 14.01.2022 Today we celebrated Wacky Wednesday! We dressed as crazy as we could and then we added colourful face paint and hair spray to complete our outfits!! We made funny faces for craft and danced crazily! It was so much fun being silly for the day!!!

14.01.2022 This years Book Week has had Kids of the Castle visited by lots of characters!! We talked about all the different parts of a book and even designed our own book cover. We also made bookmarks. We got lost in stories of dragons and monster trucks and far away lands. There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is best of all. - Jacquline Kennedy

14.01.2022 As the numbers of COVID-19 cases begin to climb we would like to take a quick opportunity to ask all families to be mindful when out and about in the community. PLEASE, for all our safety; - wash your hands regularly - use sanitiser - practice safe social distancing, staying at least 1.5 metres distance - don’t gather in large crowds or groups... - stay home and get tested if you have any signs of being unwell. Please ensure if you have spent time within these hotspots or have been in contact with someone who has spent time in these hotspots, as well as Victoria, please stay absent from the centre for 14 days. ALL family members and children are required to wash and sanitise their hands on arrival and departure. DO NOT attend the centre if you or ANY of your family or close contacts are showing signs of being unwell. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

13.01.2022 For some of us breast cancer hits a little closer to home. Every day in Australia, around 65 women are told they have breast or a gynaecological cancer. Cancer Council's Pink Ribbon campaign aims to raise awareness about breast and gynaecological cancers, as well as raise funds for prevention programs, support services and vital cancer research.... Today the children celebrated pink ribbon day by wearing their best pink attire. We also created some amazing pink cookies which we had the opportunity to eat at our Pink Ribbon Afternoon Tea.

12.01.2022 Sometimes boredom isn’t a bad thing....

11.01.2022 Rouse Hill Town Centre. Please take note of times and days. If you visited the centre, keep a close eye on any signs or flu like symptoms. 10.01.2022 These look like some fun ideas for the whole family to help build! But remember, IKEA instructions can cause family arguments, so proceed with Caution!!

09.01.2022 Stanhope Village has had a reported case of COVID. If you have visited the centre at the time of the infected shopper PLEASE be on the look out for ANY signs or symptoms. 07.01.2022 Nature shows us how to live, love and grow alongside each other - Angie Weiland-Crosby

07.01.2022 Today we enjoyed participating is some fun activities that helped to promote the importance of acknowledging the traditional owners of our land and help to develop a strong understanding and acceptance of indigenous culture.

07.01.2022 During these scary and worrying times it’s important to keep calm and continue with your normal routine, especially for children. However, it’s very important that we modify our routine to include proper social distancing, continuous hand washing and staying home of you’re feeling unwell. But one of the MOST Important things we can do, is be honest! If you or your child isn’t feeling well, Please Do Not send them to care, Please Do Not come I to the centre. If you or a close contact of the family has been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 OR have been to any of the Hot Spots PLEASE Do Not come to the centre. By working together, being honest and following the guidelines set by NSW Health we have a good chance of overcoming this!! #weareallinthistogether #KeepKidsoftheCastleSafe

07.01.2022 This past week Kids of the Castle participated in National Early Years Science Week. This years theme was Deep Blue:Innovations for the future of our oceans. To extend our knowledge and understanding of this theme we focused on sustaining our sea animals by keeping our oceans litter free. Our Possum children had opportunities to remove plastic straws from the sea turtles environment, even watching a YouTube clip on the repercussions of a turtle finding a straw in the ocean.... They designed and made boats that could use wind power and not petrol or oil, so to lessen the pollution entering the water. The possums also took part in a sink or float experiment, where they found that many natural objects, such as shells and pebbles sunk, but many rubbish items, such as plastic bags, empty water bottles and coffee pods, floated on the surface, where animals might think its food and accidentally eat the rubbish. The koala children worked extensively on the identification of different animals, as well as exploring an underwater environment. They also completed a sink or float experiment and felt the changes of textures from natural items to rubbish items. Providing children the opportunity to connect with their natural world allows them to develop a positive sense of identity and a respect for their natural environment. This allows children to become positive contributors to their world. With every drop of water you drink, with every breath of air you take, you are connected to the sea, no matter where you live! - Sylvia Earle See more
