Due to COVID-19 directives YMCA Anglsea Recreation Camp was closed in March and all YMCA Kids Go Bush Programs have been cancelled or postponed. We will be back in contact when our community is safe and we look forward to seeing everyone in the bush again soon!

22.01.2022 We are so excited to be able to get safely back into the bush for our Outdoor School Holiday Program - Check out the event for booking details. We are able to offer two days (tuesday 29th and thursday 1st) so grab a friend and get active outdoors with Kids Go Bush these holidays.

22.01.2022 An awesome morning walk was had with Playgroup. We stretched our legs, balanced, jumped and pondered along the trail! We followed the indigenous snakes, talked about the symbols, hatches and ochre paint. We enjoyed feeling the velvet core of the banksia and noticed the new growth of the xanthoria and all before the thunder rumbled.

20.01.2022 What a cracking day for our low tide beach adventure at Point Roadknight! There was so much discover....lots of crabs, a nudibranch (brightly coloured sea slug) and many different types of molluscs & seaweed. We followed a birds tracks and imagined what it was doing and where it was going. We discovered some black sand underneath when we tried some sand drawing. And enjoyed splashing in the wide shallow pools and watching our feet disappear in the soft, cool, gooey sand. 17.01.2022 This morning we went wandering along our Indigenous Trail, learning about Bush Tucker and we even tasted some bower spinach. We walked very quietly in case we came across our resident kangaroo family in the bush and luckily for us, we spotted them amongst the bracken! It was very exciting! 16.01.2022 Bees and Bugs are amazing to investigate and talk about with children and young people. Did you know there are 1700 species of Australian native bees! Australian native bees can be black, yellow, red, metallic green or even black with blue polka dots! They can be fat and furry, or sleek and shiny. Native bees are the pollinators of our wildflowers and other flowering plants, and are vital to our bushland ecosystem. ... Only 11 species of native bees are social which do not sting. Most Australian bees are solitary bees which raise their young in burrows in the ground or in tiny hollows in timber. Bee and bug hotels are amazing to create using different size sticks and tubes tightly packed together. Different insects use different diameter holes, bugs will be attracted to shards spots

11.01.2022 Our kinder group went discovering today... two types of millipedes, ants with eggs, wiggly worms, beetles and all that before each got to the vegetable garden WOW our chicks have grown in two weeks and we selected a harvest basket each of produce.... we also discovered washing our hands before, during and after, feels like a hand massage and normal actions and conversations help in uncertain times. At YMCA Kids Go Bush we want to continue our bush playgroup, kinder and schoo...l holiday programs but in addition to hand washing and sanitizer, we are reducing shared equipment, imagining our mystery item together, walking and encouraging distance and disinfecting all equipment after sessions. #kidsgobush #ymcakidsgobush #ymcavictoria #ymcaanglesea #natureplay #activerecreation #outdoorlearning #outdooradventures #playmatters #sportandrecreationvictoria #SRV

09.01.2022 We were all busy building a big cubby on our nature island adventure this morning. We learnt how to carry sticks safely and how to lean them on the tree to create a sturdy structure. 08.01.2022 A low tide and glorious morning was had by our kinder group today (fri). We were able to race accross the bumpy shallows, wonder in the reflections and see the waves breaking on the rock platform at the beach end. We saw almost all, on our discovery list, enjoyed our marine display box and collected a few pieces of litter - leaving it better than we found it

05.01.2022 A morning of learning and discovery! We cooked damper on the which was super yum but we also experimented with charcoal, drawing on wood and rocks.
