22.01.2022 It is with great sadness that the Kids In Need Committee would like to inform you that Terry James, KIN President, passed away on the 13th March 2010. What a great loss to so many. KIN would especially like to pass on our love and condolences to Cheryl, Sherry, Glen, Guy, your partners and grandchildren and to all of Terry’s family and friends. KIN would like to say a huge thank you to all of Terry’s family for allowing Terry to give so much of himself to not only the KIN ...Committee, but to the community as well. When KIN began in 1982, Terry’s children were babies and we would often gauge time of events by what age the children were at that time. For 38yrs, Terry so selflessly gave his time and energy to support so many families in our community Terry’s love for this charity and his dedication has been appreciated by so many. One of the messages KIN received said ‘I am so sorry to hear of Terry’s passing such an inspirational man. He changed so many people’s lives including mine and my sons with his hard work and absolute dedication to help people with disabilities. If we had more men like Terry in this world, then it would be a greater place." And this is so true. Terry’s generosity, caring and loving ways, will never be forgotten. As President of the KIN Association, Terry was still making decisions and being supportive right up until the very end of his journey. Terry has been such a stoic and admirable man through all that life had dealt him and his dedication has been immeasurable. So many memories so many meetings, so many KIN functions - KIN will never be the same without him Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal we will all hold those precious memories of Terry close to our heart. Terry has left big shoes to fill, and such a great legacy. KIN will do it’s best to continue without Terry, but gee it is going to be hard, as a KIN Committee. We will do our best to do Terry proud KIN would like to make a little photo tribute to a most stoic and appreciated pillar of the community, a great president and a person that each of us, are so proud to say was a great friend. Farewell for now Terry. For now and until the AGM, Terry’s wife Cheryl will step in as Acting President. Many thanks Cheryl. See more

22.01.2022 Mike - Committee Patron Michael has been the Patron of Kids in Need since 2017, when he formally retired as President. He has served in various capacities on the Committee since 1982 and is the longest standing committee member. Michael was involved in the inception of Kids In Need and has watched the committee evolve to meet changing needs of local children and their families. ... Michael is now retired, having worked in the hotel and gaming industry, many locals will know him from Terranora Lakes Country Club days. Originally from Sydney and the Riverina, he moved to Tweed Heads in 1981, so would now be considered a local. He has a keen interest in golf and lawn bowls. He has two adult children and enjoys spending time with his two grandchildren. Over the coming weeks we will introduce you to more of the Kids In Need Committee members!
