16.01.2022 Today our Nursery friends celebrated Thank a First Responder Day. Our Nursery friends got into the spirit of creating their own versions of a Police Car and Fire Truck. They used clay glue to paint recycled nappy boxes and then covered them in coloured crepe paper to imitate the colours of our first responders. We would like to express from everyone here at Kidzplay & Learning Centre how much we respect and appreciate all of our First Responders.... Thank you

01.01.2022 A number of whooping cough (pertussis) cases have recently been diagnosed in Mackay in the past week. Whooping cough is highly contagious respiratory infection ...that affects all ages and can be life threatening for babies and young children. It often starts like a cold with a runny nose, sneezing and tiredness over several days followed by the characteristic coughing bouts. Whooping cough and COVID-19 symptoms overlap, testing for both illnesses may be suggested when presenting to your GP. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent whooping cough Immunisation for children is recommended as part of the National Program Schedule A booster dose is also recommended for any adult who wants to reduce the risk of infection and hasnt had a booster in the last 10 years. Adults working with infants and young children under 4 years of age and all health care workers should receive a dose of pertussis vaccine. Anyone who has been in close contact with an infectious person should keep a close eye on their own health. If you develop signs of whooping cough in the three weeks following the exposure immediately remove yourself from close contact with others until you have seen your GP. Call ahead. Stay home until you are no longer infectious, as advised by your GP, or another cause has been confirmed for your illness.
