22.01.2022 This week, our students have enjoyed the student-led activities for ‘Love Your Body’ week. They enjoyed milk (with flavoured Sippah straws) and fresh fruit at Recess and Affirmation Jars full of positivity in Homerooms. Today, upon entering the College, girls were given the opportunity to participate in ‘Ribbon Express’, where they chose a coloured ribbon that best represented themselves to wear throughout the day. We again thank the Year 7 and 8 ‘Champions of Change’ Leaders for bringing this incredibly important topic to the forefront.

21.01.2022 Good luck to our Year 12 VCE students who are sitting their English Examination this morning. For most students, this will be their first VCAA examination and there will no doubt be feelings of nerves and trepidation. We believe in you all and you have all shown tremendous courage and fearlessness this year. You’ve got this!

15.01.2022 Today on 11/11, we remember Australian men and women who served in war and peacekeeping activities and honour the memory of all those who laid down their lives. This morning we held a Liturgy streamed to Homerooms as a mark of respect and paused to observe one minute’s silence. ‘On this day of Remembrance, we remember the courageous men and women who gave their lives in wartime and as a result of war. As we remember the lives that have been lost, let us promise each other to work for the freedom of all who are oppressed in the world today. Amen’

13.01.2022 Congratulations to our Year 12 student group (Plot Holes) who participated in ‘Write a Book in a Day’ earlier this year. For their book, ‘Kaleidoscope’, the group recently received a ‘Highly Commended’ recognition in the ‘Best Book Upper School’ category! Such an incredible achievement and an excellent way to finish this series of competitions on such a high note, considering that this group have been taking part since Year 8. Very well deserved girls! The Kids' Cancer Project #writeabookinaday #sciencesolutionssurvival

13.01.2022 Congratulations to our Assistant Principal: Learning and Teaching, Ms Jane Ward, on the publication of her superb article reflecting our experience and key learnings this year. Jane's article, featured in ‘In Alliance’-The official magazine of the Alliance of Girls’ Schools’ Australia, discusses ‘Challenge, Purpose and Courage’ and the way in which our College reimagined learning in the midst of the pandemic. See the full article at https://www.kilbreda.vic.edu.au/CollegeMedia.aspx

13.01.2022 Under the guidance of our Sustainability Leader, Dr Sarah Avitabile, our Sustainability Team conducted a blitz on using the right bins at the College in recognition of National Recycling Week. The group produced a video which was shown to each Homeroom full of handy hints and they also went out over various lunchtimes to recognise and reward students for doing the right thing. We congratulate the girls for raising awareness of this ongoing issue.

10.01.2022 This week we celebrate NAIDOC Week with the theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be, which recognises the First Nations people that have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. The week started with an Acknowledgement to Country in each Homeroom, at lunchtime our FIRE Carriers and Living Justice Leaders led students in recreating Rainbow Serpents across the College and a new student designed banner now proudly hangs on our fence line.

09.01.2022 In lieu of having our Year 7, 2021 students onsite (as part of their Year 7 Transition Program) our College Registrar is hand delivering personalised 'Welcome Packs' to all girls in the coming days. Today’s delivery includes St Louis de Montfort's School Aspendale, St Brigid's Primary School Mordialloc and other neighbouring primary schools. We can’t wait to finally see everyone onsite at the College at our Orientation Day on Monday 7 December!

05.01.2022 After a theory focused Term 2 and 3, Year 10 Food Technology students have recently been undertaking many cooking and taste test challenges. To coincide with the 40th anniversary of the iconic, 'Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake' recipe book, they were set the challenge of baking, decorating and presenting their chosen cake design for judging, which certainly inspired feelings of nostalgia amongst the staff.

05.01.2022 During Design and Technologies Week, the Product Design and Technology Leaders created a challenge for students to design a cloak for each House, which will also be produced by students and worn by House Leaders at carnivals. The winning designs are so beautiful and detailed, so the process now begins on organising fabric and creating a garment that will prove the test of time! Congratulations Sian C (Brigid), Bridgette V (Tullow), Madeline T (Delany) and Caitlin L (Kildare) for their innovative and creative winning designs, which we cannot wait to see come to life!

03.01.2022 This week together with The Butterfly Foundation, the Year 7 and 8 ‘Champions of Change’ Leaders launched ‘Kilbreda Love Your Body' Week. These groups have worked on initiatives to bring about body positivity awareness and change that will be celebrated throughout the week. One such initiative was the ‘Love your Body’ interviews. Hear from our girls as they discuss role models, body confidence and give advice to their younger selves.

01.01.2022 This week Ms Kylie Carroll’s Year 10 Medical Science/Psychology class completed a ‘Sheep Brain Dissection’. During remote learning, students had completed a virtual dissection but the chance to physically dissect the brain was a great way to consolidate learning. Prior to the class, the students had investigated structures of the brain such as the hemispheres, the role of neurons and impulse transmission, as well as how the environment can affect optimum brain functioning, especially in the teenage brain.
