18.01.2022 Oh what a night! Thanks to all those who came and supported the Kimberley Arts Network Snapshot Art Auction. The night was a great success with a good crowd and all 39 artworks auctioned off to avid bidders. The event would not have been possible without donations from local artists - our gratitude is beyond words and we look forward to expressing it by using the funds raised to support you all further. ... Also a big thanks to all of the following whose contributions help made it a successful night: - The Shire of Broome for supporting the event. - Our KAN member volunteers Liz Janney, Avrel Ford and Rowena Strain for all your help on the night. - Mick and the crew at the Broome Convention Centre for doing what you do to provide a great venue. - Steve Angoorly for setting the vibe with his musical talents. - Bim and Andre from the Little Waroeng for their delicious foods. - Trinity for manning the cake stall. - Chris Maher for his A+ auctioneer skills (and his ability to be at two events at once ). - Last but definitely not least all of our excellent KAN committee: Leah Rakabundel, Clancy McDowell, Naomie Hatherley, Chris Maher, Chrissy Carter, Mel Foster, Gary Smith, and Isla Birnie who dedicated time and effort to get this happening. Leah is a Broome based creative soul who explores a variety of mediums and pursues the use of 2nd hand and up-cycled materials where possible. She is a painter, drawer, sewist, muralist and has coordinated several community arts projects in Broome. Leah is also one half of Los Bagus Collection and on our KAN committee. This piece, Moon Market Girls, is from the Broome Girls series. This series celebrates girls and women in ...Broome and is inspired by many strong females in the community. 09.01.2022 Our first Kimberley Arts Networking event for 2021 is happening Tues Feb 9th! A chance to connect with fellow KAN members or to find out what KAN is all about. Naomie Hatherley will be one of our guest speakers, talking about art and motherhood. A Mother, Artist & Educator she is interested in notions of identity and experiences m/other reflected in the everyday. Recently, Naomie completed a residency at the Fremantle Arts Centre and also won the 2020 Shinju Matsuri Art Award for her piece Heretic. Come along to the Broome Public Library to hear Naomie and other speakers including Leah Rakabundel, Isla Birnie & Meredith Bell talk about the great balancing act of practising art and motherhood.

Since becoming Mothers in the last few years, their focus has been on providing a creative space for parents and they are currently planning a Pop-Up exhibition around the theme of Motherhood as part of Broome Fringe festival. 05.01.2022 Congratulations to all the winners of the Shinju Matsuri Art Awards. Each piece was very deserving: Winners were Albert Clifton -Youth Award. Erin McManus Painting Award, Alan Grey for Photography, Dorothy Forest Aboriginal Art Award, Jacky Cheng for sculpture and Stephen Eastaugh for Mixed Media/textiles. And were also super proud to see KANs Deputy Chair Naomie Hatherley take out the Shires Acquisitive Award for her small but spectacular work Heretic. The exhibition will be open 10am to 5.00pm every day until Saturday at the Civic Centre
