11.01.2022 The first full moon after the June solstice is celebrated in the eastern traditions as a very special and significant moment in the year, known as Guru Purnima. Guru Purnima is a chance for us to reflect on the profound knowledge passed on to us from the great masters. It is also a special day to connect with our own inner guru and reinvigorate our path towards enlightenment. Wherever you are, if you get a chance to, go for a walk and bathe in the magical moonlight tonight, give thanks to all your teachers and place your intention on a wish that uplifts both yourself and the collective. 07.01.2022 VEDIC MEDITATION VS. OTHER TECHNIQUES Question: How is Vedic meditation different from other types of meditation?... Thom: Vedic meditation and all other kinds of meditation all work. They work for the purpose for which they were designed. Vedic meditation is designed to cause the mind to step beyond thinking and experience pure, silent consciousness. Consequently, the body rests extraordinarily deeply and all stresses are released and relieved. And then you put that into regular daily practice. Other techniques of meditation also work, but they're not working to do that. They're working to their own design. Some techniques are techniques that are designed to make you more contemplative. They work, but they don't cause the mind to experience transcendence. Other techniques might be techniques that are designed to build mental muscle, to give you the ability to focus. And they work, but they do not create the same experience as Vedic meditation. And so, it's a mistake to think that all meditation techniques produce the same outcome since every meditation technique is designed to produce a different outcome. Vedic meditation is the only technique that is designed to take the mind beyond thought to experience the field of being, and it does very, very efficiently. Vedic meditation does not try to compete with other techniques. It cannot bring harm to any other technique and it cannot be harmed by any other technique. People should practice whatever variety of techniques they like, but they should always be sure that they add to the mix the twice a day experience of Vedic meditation. It will make all of the techniques work better if it's done properly. #thomknoles #vedicmeditation #jaigurudeva See more

07.01.2022 WATER THE ROOT TO ENJOY THE FRUIT. "If you have a tree that's trying to produce nectarines and you uproot the tree and start moving it around the place, it's... going to be a challenge to the nectarine crop. It's better to let it sit quietly and nurture it. Water its root, the root of the tree, that transcendent place. The place that's beyond, that's what transcendence means. Once you water the root, the fruits and flowers just blossom naturally. So meditation is like watering the root. You think of yourself as a tree. If you saw a tree that had individual brown leaves appearing and the fruits were getting shriveled, you could climb up into the tree and try to paint the brown leaves green or inject the individual fruits with stuff to plump them up. But there are hundreds of thousands of leaves. There are hundreds of fruits. What if you only needed to do one thing, which is water the root of the tree? And all of those other things get done without you having to attend to individual things. So this root of the tree concept in the analogy is your own deep inner consciousness. If you allow yourself to consciously go to that place, that deep inner quiet place when we meditate, our body rests during meditation significantly more deeply than it can rest at any point in the night. - Thom Knoles #thomknoles #vedicmeditation #jaigurudeva See more
