19.01.2022 Started my weekend under the the grape vines Saturday Reminder Give yourself permission to pause ... My favourite words this week Slow it all down. Pause from your full calendar and long task list. Take a moment or ten to simply be. To remind yourself that this is life, right here and right now. To reacquaint yourself with your pulsing heart and your incredible body that allows you to do all that you do. See more

19.01.2022 Lengthen your exhale Most people aren't really conscious of the way they're breathing, but generally, there are two types of breathing patterns Diaphragmatic breathing (abdominal)... Thoracic breathing (chest) When we feel anxious we tend to take faster, shallow breaths that come directly from the chest. This type of breathing is called chest breathing. When you’re feeling anxious, you may not even be aware you’re breathing this way. Chest breathing causes an upset in the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the body resulting in increased heart rate, dizziness, muscle tension, and other physical sensations, signalling a stress response that contributes to anxiety and panic attacks. Inhaling deeply may not always have the ability to calm you down. Taking a deep breath in is actually linked to the sympathetic nervous system, which controls the fight or flight response. However exhaling is linked to the parasympathetic nervous system, which influences our body’s ability to relax and calm down. When we feel anxious or under stress, it’s easier to breathe too much and end up hyperventilating even if we’re trying to do the opposite. Before you take in a big, deep breath, try a thorough exhale by completely emptying all the air out of your lungs, then let your lungs do their work inhaling air without force or control. Next, try spending a little bit longer exhaling than you do inhaling. Try inhaling for four seconds and exhaling for six or eight adjusting these numbers for your lungs avoid trying to force the breath and or the count allowing your own individual numbers to take place. Try doing this for two to five minutes. This technique is my go to for personal practice and when teaching as it can be done anywhere and in any position that’s comfortable for you, including standing, sitting, or lying down. If you’re experiencing anxiety or panic attacks that persists or you feel may be getting worse, make an appointment with your doctor or health care provider to discuss your symptoms and possible personalised treatments. With the right approach, support and guidance. You’re worthy You’re valid!

17.01.2022 If you ever get lost and forget who you are or just how important this very moment truly is, just be still. Silence is full of answers And so are you "Making space doesn’t mean we create an opening that wasn’t already there, the softening of our perspective is where we understand the stillness that more closely resembles us, and life. Everything we see and hear is an opinion and a perspective, which could never hold the whole truth of all that is. ... This is why silence is never empty but full of answers. Consciousness is a vast ocean and thinking is the ripples & waves on the surface of the ocean. While it may seem small, the ripple effects of small things is extraordinary. One hand on your belly. The other on your heart. Soften your gaze. INHALE slow EXHALE slower You’re Extraordinary Be Gentle with yourselves

05.01.2022 YIN for sleep every Thursday- 5:30pm via ZOOM Trouble Sleeping? Do you have an evening routine that helps you wind down from a busy day? The response and feedback around this class has lead me to decide it’s official, every Thursday evenings it is our aim to de-stress that which has crept to our shoulders, up to our ears and ease you into sleep. ... Every body is different and no exercise will work the same for each of us. Since we are not together, please, please, please pay extra attention to your body be mindful and discontinue any exercise that does not serve you. We're ALL different and there's more than one way to become healthy. If Yin yoga is calling your nameJoin me tonight to let go of your day & ease into a good nights sleep. The YIN Approach To let go, we use a yin approach. Come into the shape/pose. Explore the pose Find your edge. (The place where you feel a little tension/sensation.) Build a fort for support. (Is part of your body hanging and creating muscle tension? Support it so muscles can release but maintain the edge, no yoga props needed, a cushion/pillow, a towel & a blanket will do the trick) Hangout awhile. Let go. (Encourage yourself to melt. Feel tightness? Replace it with ease.) REBOUND (the seed of all yin, a chance to I observe the after, be still and listen onwards) If you interested let Kim know for your link

04.01.2022 Kim’s back!! And with a brand new class time Life is constantly changing, energy always moving and shifting. Circumstances they come and they go. When we practice Yin Yoga, we practice the art of letting go. Yin is to enjoy a shape that is authentic to you, without forcing your body, It is to relax, to be still and kind. The sensations you feel in your body hold the key to unlocking limiting patterns, transforming stress, generating happiness. Your body gives a constant s...tream of information about your experiences in the form of sensations. It’s like a little library of who you are at the deepest level, including all that has happened to you and all that you dream about. Understanding your body sensations will transform your life. After all emotions are just energy in motion, it is up to us to keep them flowing. Are you listening to the story your body is telling you Let's move in our own way, own shape, own form by paying a little attention to how exactly we move Are you moving with grace? Are you moving with awareness? Are you moving through freedom? Are you MOVING WITH LOVE!! Does your practice need a 2020 refresh? Starting Thursday the 30th of January I am officially BACK! I invite you to come surrender with me Yin Yoga every Monday 5:30pm & Thursday 5pm(NEW CLASS) @ Peninsula Yoga 8 Chambers Pl, Woy Woy NSW 2256 peninsulayogacentre.com.au (Stay tuned for more to come)

03.01.2022 Plenty of room on zoom

03.01.2022 Your issues are in your tissues. This is a scientific fact. Whether you personally struggle with variously degrees of trauma or some other mental health challenge, being fully alive means being connected with all of who you are body, heart and mind. By using only your thinking mind to work through challenges, you can’t fully heal or grow. Exercising only your thinking abilities to heal is like removing only the external part of a splinter, where the embedded part still rema...ins stuck inside you and although it’s barely visible to the eye and oh boy can it hurt! We all have issues in our tissues. We store our emotions in our bodies. This emotional holding can create physical pain, stress and disease. This is the connection between the mind, body and spirit that yin yoga recognises. We learned from childhood onwards to suppress our emotions. We are taught to stifle our natural emotional reactions and we unlearn our ability to listen to our bodies. This leads to the shutting down of energy flow and storage of unexpressed emotions. We can hold that emotional tension in various areas of the body. The hips are considered to be the storehouse of emotional baggage or emotional trauma, long hidden emotions that have not been confronted or expressed. This can lead to the tightness and tension trapped within the body causing physical pain and injury. Poses in yin yoga work energetically by stimulating the meridian lines that correspond to the major organs in the body. Meridian lines are the energy channels that carry life energy throughout the body. Strong emotional responses can arise in poses when the meridian lines are blocked or associated organ has blockages. Becoming aware of an emotional response or associated pain is an opportunity to watch what is happening without blame, to simply note whether there are feelings arising. Just observe them as they are. And let your emotions blossom. Want to learn and discuss more as together we dive into our practice! Join me back at Peninsula Yoga Thursday the 30th of January @ 5pm for Yin Yoga
