16.01.2022 She is incredible

15.01.2022 my mother calls me often and asks me to return home. i tell her that i'm busy, and she tells me that making a living is not synonymous with making a life. i s...top for a moment and say i love her. my father set up the lights on diwali every year. we sit outside and have drinks and salmon tartare. he says you can know a lot about a person by the way he acts when someone puts him on hold during a call, the way he is when he's had a bad hour, or the way he behaves when he can't find his socks. i carry his wise words everywhere. sometimes, it is the only thing that reminds me to be patient. my ex boyfriend met me on the day i was about to catch a train to meet my now boyfriend. i told him that i had second doubts, he asked me why. he asked me if he loves me, if he respects me, if he deserves everything in the world and i could only nod yes. i told him that i was worried because i do not know about tomorrow, and he hugged me and told me that we had messed our relationship because of our doubts. he looked at me and finally said "stop over thinking. you are breaking your own heart." i tell my therapist that i will go on a trip to Hague once i complete my graduation. she asks me if i can afford it now, and i tell her that i can. she asks me why i want to wait till graduation, and i tell her it is something that i told myself. i have a habit of celebrating myself only when i achieve something. my therapist holds my hand and says "this version of you deserve happiness. now. don't tell yourself that you will deserve better things once you lose weight, or when you reach your goals, or maybe in three years when you can finally get your life together. everyone makes mistakes, and everyone is struggling and surviving. just because you haven't achieved something doesn't mean you are not worthy of good things right now." i took the trip and bought her ceramics from De Delftse Pauw. my best friend believes in second chances as much as i believe in a four leaf clover. i ask her what if second chances aren't worth it, and she tells me that even if second chances aren't, life is worth it. sometimes, you mess things and life gives you another opportunity to fix it. people change, and times too. she looks at me and asks "If life can be so kind, why can't you?" my little sister always smile, even in the worst of her days. she says that there will always be heartaches, but she refuses to be a heartache for someone else. she says that sometimes, we find hope in the most hopeless places and i think about it for a long time and book a ticket to home. my parents and i do not have the best relationship. we fight more than we talk. yesterday, i found a letter that i gave my mother when i was 7 years old. it was on her nightstand. my brother told me that she and my father read all my letters before they sleep and it hit something inside of me. i crawled to their bed and we finally had a talk. i realized that maybe sometimes you can miss someone so much and you can love a person tirelessly, even if you have your differences, even if you are hurt. sometimes, people needs us and sometimes, we need them. some say that we belong to no one but only ourselves. but that's not true. belonging with people is the only chance that we have at happiness. as long as we are alive, we shouldn't deprive ourselves of this love. there are a lot of things that i have learnt, and there is a lot left to be learnt. and love doesn't solve your problems, it just makes your life a little less lonely. and sometimes, when everything is shambling, all you get is a hand that holds you and says that it will get easier. and trust me, some days, that is all that we really need. 10.01.2022 Lava Shaped the Land Acrylic Pour ~ Sold Red waves flow at the rocky shore,... crimson ate at the rapidly dying sand, engulfing it slowly with what the river had bore, supplying it with life straight to its core. Don’t take a dip at the boiling pool, be craven from touching for it’ll demand to engulf you into a river of heat for its fuel, for the hungry glow follows no man’s rule. And be not convinced by its beguiling beam since obeisance is what it does not understand and by Pallas it does scheme, before it has your final breath be screams. A flood of blazes crackled through the town crashing at the quaint and old into the land, hastening bitter and searing waves falling down an event so grand and so renowned. But as a tide grows ever so high, closing into the Seraphim at God’s right hand; near midday, it gently ceases until it dies, and the last red drop that treads does dry. 05.01.2022 Sustainable Earth: Water ~ Article by Brian Handwerk @natgeo ~ Artwork ‘Salty Kiss’ by @isabelemrich ... Clean water is essential for life, but most people in the developed world don't think much about the water they use for drinking, food preparation, and sanitation. In developing nations the search for safe drinking water can be a daily crisis. Millions of people die each year, most of them children, from largely preventable diseases caused by a lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation. An estimated 880 million people still don't have regular access to clean water and 2.7 billion people are without adequate sanitation. Policymakers will struggle to lower both numbers even as the planet's population rises by an expected three billion over the next 50 to 75 years. Serious Challenges About 5,000 children die each day due to preventable diarrheal diseases such as cholera and dysentery, which spread when people use contaminated water for drinking or cooking. A lack of water for personal hygiene leads to the spread of totally preventable ailments like trachoma, which has blinded some six million people. Competition can be fierce for this precious commodity. Agriculture claims the lion's share of freshwater worldwide, soaking up some 70 percent, and industrial uses consume another 22 percent. Day-by-day demand keeps growing, further draining water sources, from great rivers to underground aquifers. The rate of groundwater depletion has doubled since 1960. Change begins with more efficient management of water resources. The right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation as a human right that is essential for the full enjoyment of life and all human rights. Think twice about those long showers. Eat locally grown. Demand stricter policies for water corruption. And fight for equal clean and accessible water rights for all. 04.01.2022 Before It’s Gone ~ Article by @world_wildlife & Shannon Lee at @artsy ~ Photography Artwork by @edwardburtynsky ... From pristine glacial rivers to geometrically patterned aquaculture farms and fractal river deltas, Edward Burtynsky’s near-abstract photography documents the countless ways that water shapes our landscapes, as it traces the enormous impact that humans have on fragile freshwater systems. While trying to accommodate the growing needs of an expanding and thirsty civilization, we are reshaping the Earth in colossal ways, he says. We have to think long term about the consequences of what we are doing to our planet. My hope is that these photographs stimulate people to think about the water we often take for granteduntil it’s gone. Like Picasso’s 1937 masterpiece, Burtynsky’s arresting large-scale images of the scarred Earth inspire both awe and devastation. By providing a bird’s-eye view, he reveals a terraformed planet. This macro-level understanding of our impact is paradigm-shifting, fundamentally changing the way we perceive the impact of industries like agriculture, mining, and urbanization. Recognized for producing works that powerfully alter the way we think about the world and our place in it.
