25.01.2022 Don't you hate that feeling?? oh well, better book another one

23.01.2022 There is a lot of anxiety and fear in our community regarding COVID-19. Will it cause QLD to go into lockdown? Will we get to see friends and family in other states soon? The important thing to do in these times is to and smile. Smiling can change someone's day and will help release endorphins in your body to make you feel happier (a bit like chocolate!). Don't let what is happening around you affect your ability to brighten up the world with your smile.

23.01.2022 We love hearing about how we've helped our clients feel more relaxed and comfortable and relieve any pain they may have. Our team is always learning innovative new techniques to help you live an active, healthy life. Siri is our resident pregnancy massage specialist. Come and see her to unwind and de-stress your body and mind. Thanks for the glowing review, Vanessa!

20.01.2022 Cycling and tight hips go together like Starbucks and espressoone typically generates the other. That’s because when you’re tucked forward and hammering down the road, your hips never actually go into full extension. Over time, those overworked hip flexors start to tighten and shorten (all the sitting we do off the bike hardly helps with this). Bound up hips not only put you at risk for back and knee pain, but also can hinder your riding by compromising your glutes and preventing you from putting full force into each pedal stroke. They also wreck your posture off the bike. There are simple stretches you can do to help with this. To find out more visit http://ow.ly/v3nh50AOqTD.

19.01.2022 Meet Chris - our Osteopath at Kinetikos. But what is an Osteopath? An osteopath is an Allied Health professional who specialises in the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Osteopaths believe that the body can heal itself if the right combination of manual techniques such as massage and the manipulation of muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons are used to bring the body back to a cohesive whole. ... As an Osteopath Chris will take a case history of each patient. He will observe how the patient’s body functions when they sit, stand and lie down, as well as physically examine the patient by using palpation to determine which areas of the body are healthy and which are in pain. At the initial consultation Chris will devise a treatment plan with the patient to help achieve their goals. Osteopaths usually treat patients who complain of headaches, bad backs, neck pain, sciatica, repetitive strain injuries (RSI), joint pain, as well as arthritis and sports injuries. There are also many other conditions that may benefit from treatment by an osteopath. What Chris really enjoys about his work is the variety! No patient presents with the same condition in the same way. He loves getting to know his clients and helping them achieve their goals. When Chris is not busy working he loves to spend time with his family. He has two young boys who keep him on his toes. He has recently started home brewing with varying degrees of success! A beetroot and kombucha brew was one of his more questionable attempts! Chris also loves hiking outdoors, having completed several Oxfam Trailwalker challenges. Think you might benefit from the treatment of an Osteopath? Book in with Chris and benefit from his valuable skills today - visit kinetikos.com.au

16.01.2022 Feeling overwhelmed can show itself in many different ways. Here are some self-care tips on what to do if you feel this way: Take a mental health day, or request some time away from work. Get a massage treatment or a book a spa day. Take extended time away from technology and decompress.... Break larger tasks down into smaller tasks. Make checklists for the tasks you absolutely have to complete, and check off items as you go. Avoid caffeine or alcohol. Establish a bedtime routine and stay away from technology 2-3 hours before bed. If you're working from home, try adding a guided meditation or yoga session to your workday. Eat healthy and nutrient-rich foods, even just as smaller snacks throughout the day. Reduce your schedule where you can, even if it means saying no to engagements. Try journaling before bed to get your thoughts onto paper. If stress-reduction and self-care practices aren't having an impact, or even if you just need someone to talk to or seek advice from consider speaking to a mental health professional or exploring counselling. 16.01.2022 We are officially in the 'silly season' and stress, anxiety and depression are running high in our community. Everyone is hanging out for the Christmas holidays, needing that well-deserved break. We have seen a record number of people suffering from overwork, fatigue and chronic stress. The Vagus Nerve is the most important nerve in our system besides the brain. It's our health and immune system. If it's not working correctly, medication won't work. Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) is a treatment we offer that can help if you are struggling to manage your mental and physical health. It is the use of a mild electric current to stimulate the vagus nerve through the ears. Book in to help yourself today. Book online at www.kinetikos.com.au or call us 3143 4866

A practitioner creates suction in the cups, which pulls against a person’s skin. 'Cupping' also has links to acupoints on a person’s body, which are central to the practice of acupuncture. 'Cupping' helps by increasing blood flow to an inflamed area which reduces recovery time and act as pain relief.... Suffering from chronic pain, back or neck pain? Despite its scary-sounding name, dry needling is a safe, effective treatment involving needles that are the same size as those used in acupuncture. A practitioner will insert a needle along a client’s trigger points the tight bands of tissue within a muscle to promote the body’s own healing mechanisms. In addition, easing the trigger points may improve flexibility and increase range of motion. We use certified COVID-safe treatments at our practice to ensure the health of our patients and staff. 05.01.2022 Mental health activist, Hannah Blum, said it best - depression doesn't make you less of a man. Young, old, male, female - depression and anxiety don't discriminate. Society, however, has taught men that it isn't ok to show vulnerability; that feeling depression and anxiety makes them less 'manly'. This month men across Australia are helping to raise awareness of men's mental health issues through Movember. Whether you donate, or just ask the men in your life, "are you ok?" yo...u are helping break that stigma placed on men. Image: Hannah Blum @hannahblum To donate to Movember visit https://au.movember.com/donate Not sure how to approach someone who might be struggling? Movember has created a resource called "Conversations" that helps walk you through your talk - https://conversations.movember.com/ Suffering from anxiety or depression? Visit www.beyondblue.org.au

02.01.2022 Find yourself falling asleep at your desk at about 3pm? Welcome to the afternoon slump. There are ways to beat this other than dousing your face in cold water. These include: . . Skipping breakfast can set you up for failure by not providing you with enough energy to get through until lunchtime. The best breakfast is one that includes a whole grain product and some protein. For example, you could eat a bowl of steel cut oats with fresh berries. . ... . Proper hydration = effective functioning. When our bodies become dehydrated, we begin to feel less energetic and may have more difficulty focusing. The recommended intake is about 13 cups per day for men and 9 cups for women. . . If you’re tempted to grab a double espresso to pull yourself out of a mid-afternoon slump, stop! Drinking caffeine after 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon can actually cause you to have difficulty getting to sleep at night. A very small amount may give you the mental boost you need without dysregulating your sleep. . - . When feeling tired in the mid-afternoon, your instinct may be to grab a bite to eat. It turns out that this instinct is correct, but we often make the wrong choices - chips, lollies and some muesli bars will cause your blood sugar to rise sharply and then fall, leading to a drop in energy. Some protein and complex carbs such as whole-wheat crackers topped with slices of cheese, a hard-boiled egg with a piece of fruit will do the trick! . . Exercising naturally boosts blood flow to your brain and throughout your body, which can prevent you from feeling tired. Good options are heading to the gym or getting out and enjoying the scenery with a walk. Your body will thank you later!
