Green Building Council of Australia & New Zealand Green Building Council - NZGBC have released a report: Green Star in focus The case for sustainable industrial buildings, highlighting the opportunity sustainable industrial buildings have in reducing carbon emissions. The report finds that new Green Star certified industrial buildings produce 66% fewer ...greenhouse gas emissions than standard buildings and shows that a minimal 2% upfront cost to support green design can result, on average, in lifecycle savings of 20% of total construction costs. 19.01.2022 The below graphic shows how a heat path travels in a building, as per NZS 4214 method of determining the total resistance of parts of buildings. The heat path separates into two when it meets a bridged material (non-homogeneous) and collides to a single path when passing through a non-bridged (homogeneous) building product. Therefore, when calculating Total R-values, the heat flow path changes every time it comes in contact with bridged and non-bridged materials. With the in...troduction of NZS 4214, the effects of thermal bridging have to be fully accounted for in thermal computations.
