25.01.2022 KBSC End of Season 2020/21: Australian Sailing recently released data about the top performing club Facebook pages, with KBSC managing to sneak into 26th in the average engagements per post category. What this tells us is that we don’t post often (or on time), but when we do, the FB community likes it! Following that theme, here’s another delayed, but hopefully enjoyable update. ... Our sailing season ended just under a month ago, with the day starting with the now traditional Peter Harvey Teams Racing fixture. The drama was high, but it wasn’t really associated with the sailing itself. Racing descended into chaos as the wind meter continued to provide readings only rowers could love! Nonetheless, the fleet found a way to entertain itself with many showing that being in-water is a good substitute for being on-water. Following the teams racing, the annual club awards were held, with another wonderful lunch provided by Anne Reynolds and the canteen team. A summary of the awards can be found below. KBSC would like to thank everyone for ensuring we could provide another successful and enjoyable sailing season. A volunteer club relies on small and large contributions from a whole host of people. So no matter how small or large the task, your help is both noted, and appreciated. We hope you will all join us for the 2021/22 season! *** KBSC Club Person of the Year Lindsay Wilson Rotary Clubmate of the Year Arianna & Joey Adams Peter Harvey - in appreciation Tony Miller Junior Sailor of the Year (u16) Atlas Miller Youth Sailor of the Year (u23) Jett Hilder Senior Sailor of the Year Clive Evans Pennant Series: Sabot 1st Line Honours & Handicap Wellington Adams Open Skiff 1st Line Honours & Handicap Atlas Miller Mirror 1st Line Honours Jenny Graney & Zoe Cowles 1st Handicap Caitlin Clippingdale & Rose Landon Laser 1st Line Honours Clive Evans 1st Handicap Luka Smillie : Zoe Cowles
24.01.2022 Results from today's pennant now on the KBSC website. https://www.kbsc.org.au/racing/results-202021/ Beautifully steady breeze for the Laser and Mirror focus day today. Stand out performances were Luka's pick of the right hand side of the course, Caitlin and Rose's great sailing in the Mirror (shame about the false start though) and an interesting battle between Jett Hilder and Peter Lawrence. Big thanks to Elise and Peter Gore for the start boat and PRO work.
24.01.2022 As promised (albeit slightly later than hoped), the summary of the Sabot State Titles. Day 1 The westerly struck the Sabot fleet hard, with many sailors experiencing the shifty and gusty conditions for the first time. It was a credit to the fleet that they all got through the day with big smiles on their faces!...Continue reading
24.01.2022 A new year means a new roster of the Calvin Christian School sailing program. We're excited to see this partnership extend into a second round, and look forward to many more!
24.01.2022 Winter is upon us, and on the other side of winter there's a good chance we might have a sailing season - but let's not get ahead of ourselves. There have been a few things going on at the club since the season ended. Our kayak shed is progressing nicely and we have some very dedicated club members and generous sponsors to thank - there'll be another exciting update very soon. A big thank you to Jarrod & Kelly Minehan of JDM Contracting - Concrete, Civil, and Transport - th...ey generously donated and delivered the backfill for the shed, and a bit of their ingenuity ensured the backs of the KBSC volunteers were spared. As an aside, we unfortunately didn't get any shots of the Hazell Bros Group concrete truck when the concrete was delivered - but we hope these photos might make up for it! We hosted our May committee meeting via Zoom (a novelty we hope doesn't need to be repeated), and agreed to move the AGM to the 19th July with the hope it will take place in as close to normal manner as can be expected. It would be great to see new faces attend to ensure the future of the club remains strong. We hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the easing restrictions. The sailing season is looking more likely to get under way on time, and that should be something to smile about.
23.01.2022 We're a bit late with the notice, but Pennant Racing is on again today and the focus (see below for details) is on the high performance skiff the B14. We'll be joined by sailors from Midway Point Yacht Club, and class legends Adrian and Kelly Beswick are travelling down from Ulverstone! It should be a great day on the water! ***... Focus Days: Things are going to be a little different for pennant racing in season 2020/21. To create bigger fleets and provide more fun, competitive racing we've created "Focus Days". This basically means that pennant points will only be available for the class(es) that is/are in focus (every class will have multiple focus days throughout the season). It's a simple concept for the sailors - if you can, we'd really like you to sail the class that's in "Focus". If you can't, don't worry, there'll still be racing offered for all other classes every weekend.
23.01.2022 Don't forget that Windsurfing Tas are swinging by from 0930 tomorrow! Weather looks superb and we can't wait to enjoy a day on (or perhaps in?) the water! Hopefully see you down at Kingston Beach!
23.01.2022 We continue our series on the club committee by moving from one of the longest serving members in Commodore Steve, to the newest! At our recent AGM we welcomed Clive Evans to the team. Clive is quite new to KBSC in general, but he's passionate about sailing (and administration?), and was eager to help out in a formal role. Clive is also a very handy Laser sailor - if you look to the front of our Laser fleet on a Saturday afternoon Clive's not likely to be too far away. Read o...n to hear Clive's responses to a few of our questions. *** Role at Club: Secretary How long have you been in the role? Freshie! What does your role entail? Meeting administration and club communications. What got you into the role? A great fit for the time I have available and my previous experience. What do you like most about sailing? Competitive spirit and the variety you get from different conditions and types of boat. Like no other sport! What do you like least about sailing? The time it takes off the water, oh and westerlies! Most memorable sailing/club experience(s)? Winning a heat at national level, hope it happens again one day!
22.01.2022 Open Skiff sailors: Looking for a show of hands for coaching clinic and youth champs next school holidays.
22.01.2022 We're excited to be Australian Sailing's Club in Focus this month! Check out the article below:
21.01.2022 There's a busy weekend of sailing ahead, both home at KBSC and further abroad! *** Tackers will be in full flight in the morning, before the Laser and Mirror Focus Day will see some quality racing in the afternoon!... Elsewhere, Port Dalrymple Yacht Club are hosting the annual Blockbuster Regatta, and KBSC will be very well represented. It doubles as the the Sabot and the B14 State Titles so there is plenty at stake. Be sure to keep your eyes on Wellington Adams in the Sabot fleet who has has made a huge jump in his development this season, while Zephyr Coull is also sure to challenge the front of the fleet - his new boat will only help his cause! Arthur Adams has recently made the step up to one-up Sabot sailing and we're excited to see his improvement - exposure to a big fleet will certainly accelerate his learning. In the B14 fleet, KBSC will again be the best represented club - sending 4 boats north. Scott Foster and John Adams will look to build on their impressive season so far and find the missing pieces of the puzzle as they look to challenge the front runners. Likewise Loki Bird and Isabel Weiley have been showing moments of great promise - keeping the focus for the full race will the be aim for these two. Newcomers Issy Ermacora & Jai McKay have been rarely sighted on the race course, but rumour has it they've been putting in secret training hours - expect these two to surprise. Charlotte Armstrong & Robbie Hunt are fresh off a couple of capsizes, and will be hoping the light forecast holds true!
21.01.2022 It is with sadness that we report the passing of Peter Campbell. Whilst not an active member of KBSC, Peter was always a wonderful supporter of the whole sailing community, and was a great promoter of all classes and all clubs. He will be greatly missed.
21.01.2022 Pennant series scores to date are now available online. "Focus" days are certainly throwing in some new contenders for pennant trophies. In particular, Robbie is currently leading the Line Honours boards for both Laser and Mirror classes... pretty impressive for a B14 sailor! Plenty of season left for that to change though.... https://www.kbsc.org.au/racing/results-202021/
21.01.2022 On a day that really should have been spent on the water rather than in the office, the best we can offer is a look back at a great weekend of sailing for four of our KBSC juniors! On the 10th and 11th October we were represented by Jett Hilder, Atlas Miller, Luc Planchon and Wellington Adams at the Tasmanian Youth Championships. In a fantastic result for all sailors Jett managed to take out the Laser Radial division and Atlas claimed the Open Skiff division. Luc also sailed brilliantly for 2nd in the Sabots, whilst Wellington came home 4th.
20.01.2022 A big weekend comes to an end. We crowned our state champions, tackled the brutal Kingston westerly and finished with a spectacular sea breeze. This is Part 1 of our summary, (it's in parts because all information has not been acquired just yet sorry). We'll start with the B14's (B14 Skiff Sailing) - In the end it was a fantastic weekend of racing, but also a weekend that offered great challenge and learning for the B14 sailors. The fleet of 10 boats (reduced to 9 due to i...llness) were feeling pretty exhausted on Saturday night after the difficult conditions of the day. Fortunately, Sunday was much more bearable, with a light southerly (most of the time) building to around 15 knots for the last two races, providing perfect sailing conditions. In the end, it was David McAully and Robbie Hunt taking the title - Dave has been out of the class for a long period, but he made it look like he'd never left. The defending champion Stephen Miller, and new (gun) crew Clare Dabner were nipping at their heels all weekend and created quite the scare after taking the win in the first two races on Sunday morning. Very little sea time didn't worry Kelly Beswick and Adrian Beswick after they took third place. Kelly had only ever sailed in light and steady breezes, but she handled the difficult weather admirably. The handicap places were a great reflection of the improvement within the fleet. Jack Whittle and Finn Potter finished in 1st, with their regatta highlighted by a great 4th place in the last race of the weekend! Finlay Cooper and Charlotte Armstrong finished in 2nd (watch out for these two if they ever get a boat that doesn't leak half the river through its bulkhead covers), and third were debutants Dylan Gore and Alex Hunt - they'd never sailed together before, Dylan had never helmed a B14 and they'd never gybed until halfway down the first run of the first race. Given this, you might be shocked to hear they lead Race 5 for its majority. Not bad. Loki Bird was awarded as the "One to Watch". As the youngest helm in the fleet he doesn't have the experience of some of the older hands, but in time expect him to be pushing the front runners! The B14 fleet looks forward to continued growth in Tasmania and hopes to see everyone at the B14 World Championships in Sydney next Christmas. That's a wrap. Sabot update to follow shortly.
20.01.2022 Great to see some more Green Fleet sailors plunge into some afternoon racing for yesterday's Pennant races with some impressive determination against some tricky wind conditions. Our one-up Mirror sailors also put on an amusing show of agility (and some tangled sheets), heating up the competition in the lead up to the Tassie State Championships in March. Results on the KBSC Website: https://www.kbsc.org.au/racing/results-202021/
20.01.2022 A great summary of the Mirror State Titles held at Deviot Sailing Club over the weekend. Congratulations to KBSC legends Jenny Graney and Zoe Cowles for taking the win!
18.01.2022 Tomorrow sees a slight change of the program with a shift from Match Racing to Teams Racing! This is a fun and exciting format of sailing that pits two teams of three (or two) against each other. Forget about individual glory, it's all about ensuring the team comes out on top. Teams Racing is guaranteed to accelerate your knowledge of the rules, improve your boat handling, all whilst you have a lot of fun! It's a great opportunity for junior sailors to crew for senior sailors and watch and learn - usually what to do, but sometimes what not to do as well! Briefing from 1230 where there'll be an explanation of how this format of racing works. Hope to see you involved!
17.01.2022 Tasmanian O'Pen Skiff (Bic) and Mirror Championships 13-14 March KBSC is very pleased to be hosting both the O'Pen Skiff and Mirror states on the 13th - 14th March. It is sure to be an exciting weekend of sailing and with good fleets in both classes it should be a super friendly and colourful weekend.... With state border restrictions easing (touch wood) we're also looking forward to welcoming a few interstate friends to the competition, including current World and National O'Pen Skiff Champion Breanne Wadley who has kindly agreed to share some of her experience, plus a few tips and tricks! NOR and registration available on the KBSC website. https://www.kbsc.org.au/events/
17.01.2022 An important message from the Commodore regarding the cessation of sailing for this season: TO ALL MEMBERS OF KBSC It was only a matter of time and that time has now arrived quickly.... We at the club in the interests of the health and safety of members are following in the footsteps of other clubs and will not hold any more organised sailing this year until the beginning of the next season (hopefully). To date we have followed the guidelines as recommended by Australian Sailing and the Department of Health and ceased activities associated with larger gatherings but now we must take another step and follow other organisations (locally such as the RYCT, the DSS, Bellerive Yacht Club, Port Cygnet Sailing Club and Sandy Bay Sailing Club) and stop further activities that possibly could demonstrate a risk to members. Accordingly we at the Kingston Beach Sailing Club have cancelled the remaining sailing calendar for the rest of this season. A disappointing end to the season but we’ll be back hopefully in October for season 20/21. Members can access their boats if necessary. Canteen cards can be redeemed tomorrow at the club between 7:30 and 10:00 and to clear the fridges stock will be sold at cost prices. Steve Reynolds (0410 996 359)
16.01.2022 We're on - the last day of the 2020/21 season is upon us. Whilst the weather might not be perfect, the support we've once again received from our supporters is sure to lift your mood. 16.01.2022 Well done to all the sailors in the 2021 O'Pen Skiff Tasmanian State Championship and Mirror State Championship! Big thanks also to the support from Lauderdale and Midway Point Yacht Clubs, sponsorship from Isuzu, drone photography from Flight Risk Photography, the PRO, all the rescue boat crews, coaches, canteen volunteers and all the parent help! Checkout some footage here. Results are posted on the club website.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TqCmqkCMv8 See more
16.01.2022 I spy some very sharp looking trophies! Thanks, Custom Cuts Tasmania - there will be some happy people taking these home on Saturday. Hopefully, we'll see you for Opening Day (from 1200 this Saturday) for a celebration of both the start of the new season and the season that was... cut short by COVID. Those who are very adept at "I Spy" might notice something else a little different about these trophies...
14.01.2022 Want to see something iconic? How about Graney vs. Graney in a boat with red sails. We've seen this battle for many years, and tomorrow there's a good chance we see the next edition. The Mirror is in Focus this weekend - there's another great fleet building (which includes some northern travellers looking to join the party) and the weather looks superb. So hopefully we see you down at the beach. *Note: handbook does say Mirror & B14 Focus, unfortunately due to a large porti...on of the B14 fleet being committed elsewhere we're just focussing on the Mirror. ***** Focus Days: Things are going to be a little different for pennant racing in season 2020/21.
14.01.2022 Great bit of sailing for the pennant races at KBSC today, although perhaps a bit tricky keeping track of which end of the course was the windward end. Awesome to welcome all the visitors for today's B14 focus day. There was some intense competition on the water, which will be continuing tomorrow for the B14s at Midway Point. Phantom took out line honours. Keep an eye on Buzz though, because the PHS handicapping system is saying Loki Bird and crew have been improving in leaps ...and bounds since the state titles last March. There was also some very close competition between Wellington and Luc in the sabots with almost identical handicap ratings and some finish times only seconds apart. Latest scores on the KBSC website here: https://www.kbsc.org.au/racing/results-202021/
14.01.2022 It's only 7 days till the season begins - quite extraordinary really. We'll be ready, and we hope you will be too! Any good organisation needs that sought after mix of youth and experience, so today we are profiling the youngest member of the comittee! Finlay Cooper is a wonderful volunteer of the club, and we feel very lucky to have him on the team. Read on to find out a little more. Name: Finlay Cooper... Role at Club: Committee Member & Coach How long have you been in the role? This is my third year on the committee. What does your role entail? Heading to meetings once a month, helping out with some events and coaching anyone who wants to be coached - from the youngsters in Tackers through to high school programs and Adult Learn to Sail. What got you into the role? I went to an AGM and thought it would be a good easy way to give back to the club. What do you like most about sailing? Trying to work with the elements to get around the course as quickly and effectively as possible. But also just having a blast on the water with a good group of people! What do you like least about sailing? Sailing in just under planing conditions! Most memorable sailing/club experience(s)? Opening day a few years ago when there was a huge southerly, and big sets of waves were coming into the beach. Timing the waves to get out was exciting!
13.01.2022 We hope it was a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for all the KBSC community. As the holiday period begins to wrap up it's a good opportunity to recap some sailing news that got missed in the end of year rush. After initially being postponed due to bad weather, the Lauderdale King of the Bay went ahead on the weekend of 12/13th December. KBSC was represented by Atlas Miller, and weren't we well represented - Atlas won every race to be crowned the King of the Bay! On... Saturday the 19th December we hosted our Chistmas Lunch and presentations for the Sailing School. A fantastic turnout enjoyed Teams Racing in the morning followed by a BBQ lunch. A special thanks to Anne Reynolds and the rest of her canteen team who keep our stomachs full every weekend. Finally, a large number of KBSC sailors participated in the Launceston to Hobart between Christmas-New Year. Finlay Cooper, Grant Atherton, Chartlotte Armstrong, Luka Smillie and Jai McKay were all aboard Jazz Player who came third on Line Honours. Photo courtesy of Launceston to Hobart Facebook page. It's always a busy time of year for sailing (although Covid has made it slightly less busy than normal) and we love to hear about and share the experiences of our sailors during this time! We look forward to the new year, and hope for a fun and exciting second half of the season. See you on the water soon!
13.01.2022 It's Opening Day tomorrow! See you all from 12pm. Let's hope it's the beginning of a season that's filled with days like this one.
12.01.2022 The sailing season is fast approaching - Opening Day is set for Saturday the 3rd of October, there'll be more details to follow, but we hope to see you there! The committee are working diligently behind the scenes to get things ready, and we've got a few initiatives and some exciting new branding to unveil soon! In the lead up we thought it would be a good idea to introduce the Facebook community to the people who make the club tick - the committee. Some names will be famili...ar, and others will be new, but everyone plays an integral part in the ongoing operation of the club. We'll kick things off at the very top - this person will likely be a familiar face for many of you. Read on to hear what Commodore Steve had to say in response to some questions. *** Name: Steve Reynolds Role at Club: Commodore and other gaps. How long have you been in the role? 18 years, it may be time for a change. Are there any suitors out there? What does your role entail? Generally where the buck stops. What got you into the role? I thought it was time to get a desk job because my on water performances were so bad. What do you like most about sailing? The wind in my hair, the sun on my face, the stick from my peers, the numbness of my lips on a brisk afternoon, the sense of accomplishment when I get back to shore. What do you like least about sailing? A sudden wind change that drops me in the drink! Most memorable sailing/club experience? A rescue of a catamaran crew when the skipper fell overboard, the for'ard hand then fell out too, but hung on underneath doing 25 knots and skied for a kilometre before letting go! Then the catamaran sailed on crewless at 25 knots for the next 5 minutes.
12.01.2022 We're only a week out from the Sabot and B14 State Titles so it's a good time to share some insights on the sailors. We'll start off with some big big news that came out of the B14 fleet this week, with confirmation of a return to racing from class legend David McAully (a title earned through his work both on and off the water). It’s been a number of years since Dave donned the ripped and faded Henri Lloyd life jacket, but don’t be surprised if he makes it appear he never lost his touch. Arguably the best heavy weather crew in the business, it shouldn’t shock anyone to know what conditions he’ll be hoping for. For Dave it's a case of, the bigger the southerly, the better. Stay tuned for more sailor profiles soon.
12.01.2022 At a youth discussion night held after the 2018/19 season we received feedback about trialling windsurfers at the club. It took a little organising, but we've managed to arrange a day of windsurfing at KBSC, and we're very excited about it. We realise we're not qualified to teach anyone about anything windsurfing related, so we're bringing in the experts! On Saturday 21st November we'll be welcoming Winsurfing Tasmania as they run a Come and Try Day. It's open to the public ...(see details in event if you're not a club member), and we want anyone who has any interest at all in windsurfing to have the opportunity to try them out. It'll be suitable for complete beginners, and all gear will be provided. Club members with their own boards are encouraged to bring them along. See the event for more details and the best contact for windsurfing specific enquiries. Alternatively, contact the club through Facebook messenger for details from our end.
12.01.2022 It's only a week and a half to the 2019/20 edition of the Mirror State Titles (yes you did read the date correctly) - we'll call this the catch-up states. Hoping to see a great turnout at Deviot - a club that has hosted many Mirror events over the years, and has provided many great memories for many sailors!
11.01.2022 It's a belated International Women's Day post, and we're very sorry for that, but we are incredibly grateful for and proud of the women involved with our club and want to acknowledge their contribution. From excellent sailors, to general volunteers, committee members and supporters, the different roles are endless. For anyone who has been somewhat involved with KBSC over the years you'll know that two people in particular have been instrumental in ensuring the continued oper...ation of the club. Jenny Graney and Anne Reynolds feature heavily on the honour boards around the club, and it's no surprise why. From running the sail school, the canteen, and many other jobs that go unrecognised, the club would probably cease operation were these two to step down. From everyone at KBSC it's a big thank you to all the women who make our club the great club it is.
10.01.2022 Amongst all the excitement of the windsurfers coming to town, the sunshine, the big fleet and a ripper north easterly - smile of the day still goes to Marty! New boat day is one you'll never forget - especially when it's your first! Welcome to the Open Skiff fleet and we look forward to many big grins to come!
10.01.2022 Tomorrow sees a return of Teams Racing! This is a fun and exciting format of sailing that pits two teams of three against each other. Forget about individual glory, it's all about ensuring the team comes out on top. Teams Racing is guaranteed to accelerate your knowledge of the rules, improve your boat handling, all whilst you have a lot of fun! It's a great opportunity for junior sailors to crew for senior sailors and watch and learn - usually what to do, but sometimes what not to do as well!. Briefing from 1230 where there'll be an explanation of how this format of racing works. Hope to see you involved!
10.01.2022 It was a great day on Saturday for the Malcolm McDougall Trophy Races. We held 3 races, with yardstick used to determine the overall winner from the mixed fleet of boats. The breeze was fickled throughout the day, but a late sea breeze ensured good racing. The yardstick worked well, with the top four being taken out by three different classes: Laser Radial (Stewart), Laser Radial (Anne), Sabot (Wellington) and B14 (Charlotte and Fletcher) the top four. The Malcolm McDougall... trophy has an anchor attached to it - perhaps suggesting that the winner should slow down a bit and take in the sights? This Saturday (Jan 30th) will be Pennant Racing with the focus on the B14 and the Laser.
08.01.2022 Not long to go before the Tasmanian O'Pen Skiff and Mirror state championships both held at KBSC on the 13th and 14th March. Entry forms are open: https://www.kbsc.org.au/events/
08.01.2022 A beautiful day on the water for the Life Members Trophy Races. Bright sunshine and a building North Easterly, the sort of conditions that make you love sailing! Unfortunately there were no photos captured of the post race B14 joy ride in which a young Sabot sailor was treated to the ride of their life. Hopefully a memory that is not forgotten!
08.01.2022 Very close racing in yesterday's Laser focus day. Stand out performances from Wellington Adams and Peter Lawrence. Clive Evans now leading the Lasers line honours pennant scoreboard and Luka Smillie is leading on PHS. In the Sabots Wellington Adams is leading on line honours points and is equal first on PHS points with Luc.... All the scores available on the KBSC website. https://www.kbsc.org.au/racing/results-202021/

07.01.2022 Sailor profile number two - Arlo Strating.
06.01.2022 What a spectacular day it was yesterday! In the morning our Tackers and Junior sailors made the journey around the headland to Boronia Beach - a feature of our learn to sail program that's always well received! In the afternoon the ripper sea breeze and bright sunshine made for a great couple of Pennant Races. With a strong turn out from the Mirror class there was competitive racing and lots of smiles!
05.01.2022 The PRO stood firm today and vowed not to be shifting the marks around. A bold move given the forecast. Sure enough though, the weather obeyed with a beautifully steady light sea breeze for two windward-leeward pennant races. Results for today and latest series scores are available on the KBSC website. https://www.kbsc.org.au/racing/results-202021/
04.01.2022 O'Pen Skiff and Mirror state championships. Day 1 results on the KBSC website. https://www.kbsc.org.au/racing/results-202021/
04.01.2022 This photo wasn't taken this morning, but it certainly could've been. It looks like we have a ripper day shaping up at KBSC, don't hold your breath but maybe, just maybe we'll see the first sea breeze of the season? Tackers this morning, then a training day for Rescue Boat Operators in the afternoon - a good day for our in-water volunteers! There's also rumours of some B14 joy rides taking place. All in all it should be a pleasant day in the October sun!

04.01.2022 It's been a busy (and perhaps rather chaotic) weekend on the water for our sailors. It was a low-key afternoon at KBSC, with a number of regattas taking place at other clubs. Down at Midway Point our B14 sailors tackled breezes that were rather challenging on the first day of the Pittwater Regatta. Reports suggested the time spent swimming and sailing were evenly divived! There's no better way to improve though, and the enthusiasm and smiles evident when the boats came off the water sum up what it's all about! Lauderdale Yacht Club also hosted the King of the Bay Regatta with our Open Skiff sailors making the journey east. With breezes building again today any further racing at either event is likely to be given serious consierdation from the race officials. Further updates to follow from both events.
03.01.2022 This photo was taken this morning. The prediction was for perfection, and almost unbelievably, the outcome managed to match the expectation. Superb day on/in the water - hopefully many more like this to come! Thanks to Wellington and Luc for volunteering to be rescue dummies for our training course this afternoon. We hope our rescue boat drivers are never required to use these skills, but preparation is essential.
03.01.2022 Today was scheduled to be our end of season celebration. Whilst it’s obviously disappointing we couldn’t finish our season properly, the impacts of what’s unfolding in the world go far beyond our little sailing club. Nobody knows when we’ll be back on the water, but we hope everyone is well, that you’re staying home and you’re washing your hands with great regularity! As a lot of our time is now spent sitting at home, a summary of the season we had might give you something to...Continue reading
01.01.2022 The Derwent River and KBSC can be very challenging places to sail, and today proved to be one of those days. A "moderate" southwesterly, with big gusts, shifts and never-ending holes kept everyone on their toes. A fantastic effort by all sailors in the difficult conditions, especially our juniors who are facing conditions they've perhaps never experienced before! Join us tomorrow as we crown our state champions in the Sabot and the B14.
01.01.2022 Windsurfing Tas putting a lot of smiles on faces. Still here for another hour if you've always wanted to give Windsurfing a go - be rude not to get on the water on a day like this.
