23.01.2022 In writing, SIG have been writing a persuasive text on what the best planet is and why?. They took advantage of the sunshine today to sit outside and paint their chosen planet to display with their writing. Students had different opinions about what the best planet is: Saturn is the best because it has rings made of crushed up rocks and ice - Peyton... Mars is the best because it has volcanoes AND ice on it - Hendrix Mercury is the best because it travels at 50km per hour - Shae Jupiter is the best because it has a hurricane on it that has been going for hundreds and hundreds of years - Eli Earth is the best because is has different continents on it like South Africa and Australia - Enrico SIG have really enjoyed learning about the different planets of our Solar System

22.01.2022 Today S1G were lucky enough to have Duke bring in his boomerang and share his knowledge with the class. We learnt how to throw them properly, to make them spin, what they are used for and that boomerangs should always be thrown from the left side of the body. Duke taught us to be extra careful when touching the paint as it was made from ocher. He told us that people gathering around waterholes are painted on his boomerang. We also learnt how to mimic different animals such a...s Goan as and frill neck lizards. S1G and Miss Gould ABSOLUTELY LOVED learning from Duke and about Aboriginal culture. We are so lucky to have him share his knowledge with us. Thank you Duke!

13.01.2022 Last week the staff of King Street Public School were saddened to hear of the passing of Harry Burgmann. With permission, we would like to share the sentiments received from Harrys daughter Carol... I would like to thank you all at KSPS for the beautiful flowers in remembrance of my father, Harry Burgmann. Dad spent many years volunteering at the school, helping to keep the grounds tidy. I know he thoroughly enjoyed this time because he used to tell us funny little storie...s of things the children used to say to him. We were all very proud when he received his Community Award in 2003 and, even more-so, when Harrys Place, outside the infants classrooms, was named after him. We extend our sympathy to Harrys family and thank this wonderful man for his service to our school.
