15.01.2022 It’s been a little while since I’ve been overseas, so I’ve been reminiscing. This pic was taken by @thedaveaftertomorrow at Zion Canyon, Utah 2017 of us taking a pic (how gen Y of us). Zion-Mt Carmel Highway was one of the most beautiful and scariest road / tunnels I’ve ever driven on. With a 40km stretch of winding uphill roads and sheer cliff faces plus 4 of my good friends in the car, I can’t say I was my usual speed demon self. ... As if the road wasn’t terrifying and magical enough, there’s also a 1.7km tunnel that cuts through the vertical sandstone cliffs and blends into the landscape. I think I nearly jumped out the driver’s seat and into T’s lap when a small truck passed us and rattled the whole tunnel, thankfully we made it to the other side After 3 hours of driving from Vegas, 4 sleepy heads from the night before and two states later we parked up. A 1.5km hike that involved us running round like mountain goats trying to stretch our legs, we made it to the Canyon Overlook. Just so the meaning isn’t lost here’s the explanation: Reposted from @corefitbybec: Pnar Gultekin was reported missing in Turkey's Aegean province of Mugla on 16 July and found dead after being brutally murdered five days later. A man has been detained in relation to her killing. Pinar was just 27 years old. People in Turkey regularly see black and white images of women on the news, but they are pictures of women who have been violently murdered; the country has one of the highest rates of femicide in the world. The photo challenge circulating right now was in response to Pinar’s death. A way for Turkish women to stand in solidarity with those lost and shine a light on what is happening. See more
