17.01.2022 There is something so satisfying witnessing my students completing a painting. The signing process is a bit of a ritual. Congratulations Michelle, your artwork is stunning.

16.01.2022 I find water to be the one of most appealing things to paint, as it adds interest and intrigue to any painting. It can, however, be challenging to depict in a painting, as the anatomy of water changes so significantly between the time it falls, to when it lands on an object, to when it is in a pool of water. To create the most realistic-looking painting, you must add at least some ripples in the water. Here, I am using a round brush with Tranquility to create the ripples in... this magnificent Antarctica painting. Press the tip of the brush onto the water where you want the first ripple to start. If there is an object in the water, make the first and strongest ripples directly around the outer edge of the object. Paint a small, slightly squiggly, slightly curved line. You will note the hand movements to create the movement in the ripples. Repeat to make as many ripples as desired. The more motion you want to show in the water, the more ripples you have to include. Observe photographs and other paintings of water scenes to learn how the ripple patterns form. See more

07.01.2022 Isn’t nature just amazing? Wouldn’t this make a stunning painting? I’ve always seen inspiration as a gem that is innate in all of us. For me, tapping into creativity is intuitive, which is why I feel most connected to my artistic side when I’m in, on or by the ocean. Every wave, high-tide, low-tide or ocean sunset seems to have its own story to tell. I feel it’s impossible for me to not feel a sense of wonder and vision whenever I am near the ocean - it’s a constant that continuously supplies me with a wealth of inspiration to draw from.
