23.01.2022 Future Glory All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace" Isaiah 54:13 A Smooth Return to Classroom-based Learning The Board of Kluthuthu Christian College (KCC) wishes to congratulate Mayor Jacinta Motton, the new Councillors, Kaylene Jawai, Margie Adidi, Mairu Egito and CEO, Ms Janelle Menzies on their recent appointment to the Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council. KCC is looking forward to working with the new Councillors in supporting the ...vision of seeing education returned to Napranum and aligning with Council’s strategic direction for top-quality education. As Principal of Kluthuthu Christian College, I am very excited to say that the power of the dream that Mark Howard had in July 2015 to start a Christian College will become a reality in 2021 pending NASC Council endorsement. Since the dream, there have been five years of building relationships and negotiation with Indigenous elders and the community of Napranum about the establishment of this school. The word Kluthuthu is an Aboriginal word that means "peaceful dove, a unique species found in the area. It is a beautiful name given by the Aboriginal Elders of Napranum and symbolises the founding scripture of the College: "All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace" (Isaiah 54:13). This scripture contains the promise and peace of discipleship. All your children will be taught of the Lord; and the well-being of your children will be great. Such peace or well-being is born out of a right relationship with God. There is no way to have this relationship without being taught of God. The Lord would have us learn His ways so that we might be transformed into His precious character by His Spirit. As students return to school and re-adjust to classroom-based learning, the Board of Kluthuthu and myself are upholding you in prayer. We pray that as you transition from remote online teaching and learning to the stability, predictability and the routines of face-to-face classroom-based learning, you will quickly settle in and enjoy peace, safety and joy in Christ throughout this term. On 6 April 2020, The Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB) gave full accreditation and approval for Kluthuthu Christian College to open in January 2021. I can imagine how excited the students, teachers and parents will be when we are able to move into our new College next year! Until then we would like to wish you all a peaceful, productive and prosperous Term 3! In His Service Mr V. 22.01.2022 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. Psalm 127:3 On 4 August 2020, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders celebrated Children’s Day. This day was established to celebrate the children, give them confidence and make them feel special and included. This day was historically used to celebrate the birthdays of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders children taken from their families at a you...ng age without knowing their birthdays the Stolen Generation. The Board of Kluthuthu Christian College commemorates Children’s Day and sees the transformative power of Christian education as crucial in securing the wellbeing, safety and development of children. This will be a key focus of the College when it commences in January 2021. I take this opportunity to share a few tips for parents in helping students create a productive study environment. One of the keys to achieving academic success is to establish an area in the home that is conducive to study and productivity. Choose a comfortable area, free of distractions and interruptions. This will enable you to remain focused and get the work done Carefully organize your materials needed for study. This will ensure that you do not waste time searching for supplies or the relevant class materials Ensure that your study area has suitable lighting. This is essential to reduce eyestrain which will make you feel tired. Adequate lighting is very important if you are studying at night or early in the morning. Proper lighting will keep you focused and awake for longer and more productive. Schedule your study time on a timetable. Ensure your study area is quiet so that you can remain focused. Find a routine that works best for you this could be at night or early morning As we commemorate this national event, let us never forget that our children are a gift from the Lord and the elders of tomorrow. The best investment we can make for their future is securing the wellbeing, safety and development of our children today. In His Service Mr V.
