23.01.2022 Homemade quiche for dinner with Wattlebankpark bacon is the best. The last of our broadbeans from the veggie patch were delicious pan fried in butter, salt and pepper with fresh herbs sprinkled on top. Hopefully we aren't in for a windy night again tonight. 17.01.2022 I'm finding it real hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year but stiff upper lip and all that....so to cheer myself up l made a Christmas cake. It worked! Food is such a great comforting element and l'm lucky to have organic eggs to use in my cakes. I hope you are all getting in the spirit (brandy in this case). 17.01.2022 A few changes have been made to our accommodation- we now have a microwave and toaster, plus kettle in the dining room for guests to use. The new bedroom means that guests are totally comfortable yet separate from the hosts. Don't get us wrong, we love interacting with our beautiful guests but Covid 19 has meant we have had to adapt to a new system. We are also only offering a continental breakfast at the moment, however this is always popular and with homemade bread and... jams, muesli and home grown fruit, it's a winner. Today we await our first guests since the second lockdown in Victoria, and now that Melbourne has reopened we are good to go. I'm also hanging out to see my family-its been a long time. 15.01.2022 Breakfast on the deck at Knockwood is a very pleasant thing now that the weather is warming up. Yesterday we moved the outdoor furniture back onto the deck and now l have to give everything a coat of linseed oil to smarten it up. 15.01.2022 Soon it will be my turn to squeal with delight! Zucchini, beans and beetroot looking great. Not so sure about our tomatoes so far.-l grew a green manure crop of broad beans in late winter to start with, then added horse manue, blood and bone...cool, l thought, this should do the trick but the first lot of seedlings wilted, bugger, l said, so replaced them with fresh seedlings(of the tomato kind), however the same thing is happening again...double bugger....what on earth am l... doing wrong? Ours has carrots, parsnips, broad beans, herbs (oh how l love the herbs), garlic, onions leeks, tomatoes, zucchini, strawberries, asparagus (a poor attempt mind you), rhubarb, horseradish, radishes and a good variety of fruit trees.
