07.01.2022 On a lighter note, I was chuffed to find out that Cricket Australia are issuing each Australian open age indoor cricket representative with a commemorative cap adorned with their individual playing number. I last played in the Australian side in 1992 so a lot of water has passed under the bridge since. However, I have the most wonderful memories of that period of my life and it's a thrill to be recognised by Cricket Australia all these years on. The attached image contains ...the names of each player selected in the inaugural mens and womens teams of 1985 & 1989 respectively. You'll note I'm included as hailing from NSW, which also reminds me that it'll be 30 years in January since I moved to my much adored home state of Tasmania. Whilst I loved my time in NSW, I've now been in Tasmania for over half my life. From day one I was welcomed with open arms across all aspects of my life and I have so much to be thankful for. In particular in those early days where my cricketing mates, their partners and families, really looked out for me. Those many friendships endure today. Many of you are aware that sailing ultimately took over my sporting ambitions and provided me with another avenue to whet my competitive appetite. I mention this as it was Roger Woolley, former Test cricketer and then coach of the mens Tasmanian & Australian indoor cricket teams, that introduced me to sailing. For a boy from the Blue Mountains, I still pinch myself at the opportunity, one that I relished as much as my time in cricket. Roger's name appears in a subsequent image in the Cricket Australia Indoor Cricket FB page, along with many other Tasmanian's who led a period of immense success for our island state and the national team. Anyway, thanks to all who played a part both on and off the playing field. And to my opening remarks, sport has been such a major part of my life and I'm just thrilled to be able to receive such a memento. See more

07.01.2022 A great read, especially when one reflects on the demise of Bankcard, Australia's 'own' card alternative back in the day. That said, the comments of former NAB Chief, Don Argus, make perfect sense from a proprietary business case perspective, but not for that of the consumer. The payment system evolution under the guise of digital transformation is of course front & centre for our Bank's as they seek to combat loss of market relevance, but it's just another 'Uber' moment in time!

Will the north-west benefit from a reignited ferry service? What will Macquarie Point bring to the table? How will we accommodate our increasing tourism numbers within our city centres? What will MONA look like in 2050? How will a reinvigorated University setting drive both Launceston & Hobart? Exciting times!! #lovetasmania
