25.01.2022 Take 30 seconds and look at your own #linkedin profile. Look at the pictures, the headline, the summary. Now ask yourself these two questions: 1) does this sound like me if I was talking to someone at a function? 2) if I was my ideal client reading this, would I want to call me? Answered no to either question? Time for a refresh.

25.01.2022 Basically no #lawyer likes this particular bit of news, because it kills the certainty of the program - but #digitalmarketing is really a series of maybes. The question becomes, how tip the balance of the maybes in your favour? https://youtu.be/kOt5TrmldOY

24.01.2022 Ohhhh the humanity! So many amazing articles out there written by brilliant and insightful #lawyers simply fly through the internet with nary a glance. And so that valuable time is wasted and proclamations of "digital marketing sucks" abound as our grand #contentmarketing plans get tossed in the bin. Luckily for us, #digitalmarketing doesnt suck and the solution is often fairly obvious. https://bit.ly/3ciRo1c

24.01.2022 So, are you busy trying to find creative ways to incorporate #coronavirus into your marketing content, or is it business as usual? http://bit.ly/3d4KvBE

23.01.2022 Whats the best time to post on #LinkedIn? I get this question at least weekly, and I reliably give the same answer... https://bit.ly/34ow8Ef

18.01.2022 One thing a lot of #lawyers dont know is that their email newsletters are, in most cases at least, available through their email #marketing provider as a public link. So if you want to share your newsletter beyond just those who are subscribed, then this is the way to do it.

18.01.2022 OK, so youve hit the ground running and youre excited about expanding your #lawfirm in 2020.... but how are you going to make the most of what happened last year? Heres how... http://bit.ly/2tyu7XO

18.01.2022 So the whole "morning routine" gig is a bit interesting to me, especially given that writing about how "Successful Person X does this every morning" has formed the basis for about 7,260 articles each month* Have you found a copycat morning routine that actually works for you? Do you even have a morning routine (outside wake up... do stuff)?... *all statistics are made up

17.01.2022 Many of our #seo conversations with #lawyers raise this topic: should you bother with SEO if your "clients dont use Google to find their lawyers" Lets find out.

17.01.2022 Just another #socialmedia idea from the factory floor. A quick style Q&A post doesnt have to take long to produce and can bring real value to your audience.

17.01.2022 If youre doing this marketing strategy, its time to stop... https://youtu.be/m36L1TGIDxI

16.01.2022 OK be honest - how much more than intended did you spend in the American gorge fest known as black Friday?

16.01.2022 OK so Ive canceled the auto-queue of previous articles for now. Why would I do that?

15.01.2022 Put some colour into your planning and the process becomes much more fun

15.01.2022 Sometimes stuff happens, and when it does do you have the necessary information to protect or salvage your information from your #marketing agency? More and more Im seeing marketing agencies who set things up for clients but dont give them the information they need to access it themselves. Then guess what? They get fired or go out of business, and all of a sudden youre left down a particular creek without a particular instrument.... Dont let that be you - listen to this and put it into practice today. https://bit.ly/2VW49I7

15.01.2022 As the legal world embraces Zoom meetings as a regular form of communication and client consultation we should all be asking a lot of questions. And the first is this: do I understand how to use Zoom in a way that protects my clients confidentiality effectively? If you arent sure then take these 9 steps to start coming to grips with the many ways you can ensure that your newfound love of Zoom doesnt result in a trip to the legal services commissioner.... https://bit.ly/2xNslV0

13.01.2022 #Linkedin is a pretty cool platform, but as with all #socialmedia can be a massive time-waster. So how do you avoid wasting time here? Do you have a plan going in?

12.01.2022 Fundamentally, #marketing is about effecting change. What change are you trying to make with your #digitalmarketing efforts? Have you ever thought about that question?

12.01.2022 Whats your go-to type of content? Written, audio, video, image? Is the type of content you consume the same type of content you produce? Truth is that often the content we produce doesnt represent a calculated choice targeted to benefit our audience, but rather the thing we most naturally fall into.... That might be because of preconceived beliefs about what "value" looks like, time sanctions, or just thoughtless action. So well rephrase the question: are you producing the right type of content do you think?

11.01.2022 Youre probably an expert in a bunch of different things, but that doesnt mean your digital strategy needs to include all of them. http://bit.ly/38VKiNM

09.01.2022 Are you producing a #podcast? Do you use each episode to its full advantage - are you posting the episode itself, a video version, a transcript (if feasible), quotes and best moments, images that capture the essence of it? These are just some of the ways to ensure that the effort youre putting in to your podcast is well worth it.

08.01.2022 The heart of #marketing is empathy.

08.01.2022 Embracing innovation doesnt mean spending big on tech, appointing a Chief Innovation Officer, or having an innovation policy. Those things are just a waste if you dont address the big issue first....

08.01.2022 Please #lawyers, for the love of everything, dont just cut and paste your website profile into your #linkedin summary. Ignoring the fact that most of them are terrible, its also not what they were written for. Take the time and do it properly.

08.01.2022 Who, exactly, are you trying to market to? What do they look like, speak like, believe, enjoy, hate, feel, embrace, fear? If you cant answer this, its probably time to get out the notepad.

07.01.2022 Its a common strategy get your law clerks to hunt down recent decisions, events or news and have them write an article about it. But is it really a good idea? https://knownlikedandtrusted.com.au/4-reasons-law-clerks-s/

06.01.2022 Opportunities abound right now for personal and corporate growth. While it seems like a burden forced upon us, the truth is that many law firms were ignoring the inevitable when it comes to technology, remote working options and strategies for disparate working environments. The question of the day is - when this is over, how many #lawfirms will go back to how things were before, and how many will take these lessons and power-up for the future?

05.01.2022 Your #linkedin headline is not your job description - use the real estate wisely, not just to repeat stuff that you already say somewhere else.

04.01.2022 What should a marketing campaign look like in a time of disruption? Should you simply go radio silent until further notice? I think not. While its important that your #marketing efforts not be oblivious to the clear challenges that individuals and businesses are facing at the moment, its also important that you not simply disappear from your market entirely.... The decisions you make about how youre going to show up now will impact your #business as everything trends back upwards in the future - make sure you dont get outpaced by those who were more strategic.

04.01.2022 Legal Marketing is a human endeavour, to connect you as a person with them as a person. Its not trying to connect your suit with their wallet.

04.01.2022 Confused about whether you should be focusing on articles, blogging, social media, videos or something else entirely? I understand. Try this article to help you figure out where your attention should be focused this year.

02.01.2022 I understand how people are feeling at the moment - my wife and I run small businesses after all. And its all getting pretty weird, pretty fast. So I wanted to say this: pause and breathe. Take a minute, quiet your mind, and be still. As far as possible the decisions we make now need to be strategic, informed and long-term. No wise decisions get made in the face of fear-driven panic, so just slow things down a bit.... Slow down before sending the email. Slow down before terminating your contracts. Slow down before you speak to your spouse or your children out of the frustration that being unable to control events can cause you. If your pulse is racing, your breath is quick, the pressure is high, your mind is going 120 places at once, your fingers are flying on the keyboard - this is not the time you will make good decisions that set you up to retain your power now, and rise strong in the aftermath. So slow down, and make sound clear-headed decisions. Your business, your family and your own sense of integrity will thank you for it later.

02.01.2022 Its that time of year when many #lawyers are going to be musing about where to put their #marketing time over the next 12 months But how are you going to make this process worthwhile? Sometimes we overcomplicate the process, ending with a monster strategy of our creation, incapable of execution.... Other times we end with nothing meaningful, and no strategy to think of at all Here are my tips on a simple but effective review process: - what were your marketing goals over the last year? - which goals did you fail miserably at, and why? - which goals did you crush, and how? - what activities moved you towards your goals, as best you can tell, and what activities did nothing for you at all? - what things didnt you even try that are worth having a crack at this year? - set your marketing objectives for the coming year, cull the activities that dont move you towards those, and identify the activities that will - decide, in advance, HOW youre going to execute on those activities. Do you need to hire someone? Do you need to learn something? What barriers prevented stuff happening last year and how can you move them? - execute. And if you need help, you know where to find me. #digitalmarketing #marketingforlawyers
