She has presented Kodaly (AKC) Training Courses in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Auckland, Napier and Kuala Lumpur. Kate is a Past President of the Queensland Ch...apter of the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia (KMEIA) and has also conducted choirs of various ages for Voices of Birralee. Kate has taught classroom music at both state and independent schools and is currently a Music Specialist at Ambrose Treacy College in Brisbane. Having taught in boys’ education for the majority of her teaching career, Kate is passionate about raising the profile of Music and enjoys finding new ways to engage her students. See more

23.01.2022 Last December, Réka Csernyik recorded 9 of her musicianship games for Kodály QLD. Réka played "The Train Ride" game with her students at the Conservatorium High School, Sydney and we are excited to share it with you today. What a fun way to practise solfa fluency and creative story telling. This is the second game we are sharing publicly. Another game will be shared soon and the rest will be available only to members. Her career spans from music teacher in regional Queensland to Director of the renowned Kodály Center at Holy Names University. Maree has developed curriculum materials and resources designed to assist teachers in the implementation of effective music programs in schools. She previously worked as Senior Project Writer for Curriculum into the Classroom materials designed to support Queensland teachers in the implementation of the new Australian Curriculum.

05.01.2022 Register for our next webinar - this Saturday and hear from the wonderful Katharine Finlayson. Katharine is the president of Kodály ACT and she holds the Australian Kodály Certificate. She has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Qld Conservatorium of Music, with Distinction. She has been a primary music specialist teacher for 35 years. Katharine’s sequential, developmental teaching programs are based on the Kodály philosophy, reflecting her passion for singing. In... 2011 Katharine received a National Award for Excellence in School Music Education. In 2014 she was nominated for the Katalin Forrai Award for Preschool Music Education which was administered by the International Kodály Society. Katharine is currently employed as the Executive Teacher, Professional Practice for Music and the Arts in the Belconnen Network of schools, ACT. She works with classroom and specialist music teachers across a number of schools, supporting them to deliver music education programs to their classes. In 2016 Katharine gained Certification as a Lead Teacher through AITSL. She is also the conductor of the ACT and Senior Concert Choirs and the Vocal Director of Step Into the Limelight. See more

03.01.2022 "Money Money" is the third and final public video in our series of musicianship games taught by Réka Csernyik. This game practises the major triad by passing a theme around the circle. The people on either side of the theme person are the bodyguards and everyone else are observers. Each character has a theme to sing and everyone must pay attention, otherwise they'll miss what's going on. Lots of fun for middle school students! 02.01.2022 Not too late to register for Saturday's Webinar. Meet Jason, one of our presenters.... Jason Boron is a Lecturer in Music Education at Edith Cowan University, Australia. He is an experienced music educator having taught in early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary settings. Jason is currently Vice-Chairperson of the Australian Society for Music Education and coordinates the Australian Kodály Certificate Course offered by Kodály WA. He is a regular presenter of papers and workshops at local, national and international conferences. Jason is a past recipient of the Sárolta Kodály Scholarship awarded by the International Kodály Society. In 2020, he was awarded the ECU Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Award for Innovative Teaching.
