25.01.2022 Today we made a last minute decision to chase the rain with our cameras in hand. The results are magic! Will be posting more images from this session over at www.instagram.com/kodocreative !
24.01.2022 a brand new look, for a brand new season. I have always been a massive child at heart. As a young girl, my Mum recalls me walking up to strangers in the shopping centres and giving hugs to anyone in sight. As I have gotten a little older, my childlike spirit has only enlarged. Over the years, I love the fact that the little things are often those we look back on and realise that they are, in fact, the big things. Some of life’s best moments are created when we do not ...have a plan. It’s all about capturing the stories between frames. Kodo is not just about capturing snaps or a pretty film for your Instagram. It’s about capturing the emotions, the history and the journey of each family filling the frame. Just come as you are. Check the vid pinned to the top of this page for more details. www.kodocreative.com.au
23.01.2022 I had so much fun snapping over 1500 portraits of King's Christian College students last week for a top secret Mother’s Day project! Every Kings Mama received a professional portrait of her child today at the school’s Mothers Day celebration. It was such a blessing to be there as Mum’s received their photos, positioned on a card next to a hand written letter by their child. Projects like this are just so much fun to be a part of. Thank you for the opportunity, King’s!
18.01.2022 family stories. THIS IS WHY > I loved that it wasn’t posed and that I can look back on the little personalities and see how they interacted with us and each other. It’s the little moments you forget about, and I love that I’ll be able to watch and remember them over and over again.
14.01.2022 Hey there lovely people! It has been a while. If you missed my recent live vid over on the Kodo Instagram, here's what is new around here. + 2018 is my FINAL year of University..woohoo! The majority of you have been following along since the very beginning and have been so understanding of my Uni demands. Can you believe that this year I graduate? Ahh! ... + This means that I will be giving my absolute everything to this last year of studies. So if my Social Media updates slow down a little, fear not! I'm still around and I'm still shooting. + In fact, I'm spending this year refining and defining my style. Since I was 13, I have been shooting everything...I mean, EEEEVERYTHING! Events, Portraits, Corporate, Branding, Newborn, Lifestyle, Families, Headshots and even weddings here and there...you name it, I've shot it! While this has been AMAZING experience over the past 7 years, and I am so glad that I have learned all different styles and techniques, I am now absolutely certain of the exact way I love to shoot and I wake up each day SO excited to photograph. I'm currently working on a series of projects focused solely on this way of shooting, and I really can't wait to share them all with you. + I am currently undertaking a brand new series of courses dedicated completely to serving YOU! This means that 2019 will introduce a BRAND NEW way for us to connect, a brand new way of viewing your images and a brand new way of ensuring your images will be passed down through generations. I've set aside this year to dive deep into learning new ways of serving you to ensure I create tangible memories of your story. Because as soon as I walk off that University stage with that piece of paper in my hand, well, I'm alllllll yours! So I want to do this properly and not rush it. Your stories are NOT worth rushing. + But for now, I'm still shooting, and loving it more than ever. I'm really excited. I'm no longer pumping out 'content' and running myself into the ground because I feel pressured to, but rather, spending my time photographing because a) I love it and b) your stories are worth the time. So here's for new things on the horizon. Love you all. & thank you for the continuous support.
13.01.2022 This Fresh 48 Session from last week was such a dream. 7am in the morning. 48 hours after little Abigail was born. Abigail's big brothers were feeling pretty overwhelmed and restless with all of the cameras and lights, so I stepped back and decided to observe moments as they unfolded. Jeremy was the proudest big brother I have ever seen. "That's my little sister. Abigail. Can you take photos of her please? Can I be in one? I want to be in lots of photos with my little siste...r Abigail." Jeremy then insisted on being in EVERY photograph. It was great. * FRESH 48 SESSIONS WILL BE RELEASED 2018. Packages are currently being designed and I cannot WAIT to release them! See more recent work over at --> www.instagram.com/kodocreative/
12.01.2022 Here's a reminder to always trust your gut. I was second-shooting at a wedding recently and was observing this Magpie watching over us for a while. For all those not from Australia, Magpies are known for swooping and attacking, so I was just keeping my eye on him. But as I watched, it wasn't aggressive, but was just enjoying watching over our session. Something in my gut told me to snap a photograph.... When I delivered the gallery, the Bride wrote back and I was amazed. She works as a Nanny for 3 beautiful young kids and their Pa recently passed away. She wrote in her message that since he passed away, they call Magpie birds 'Pa,' because one often comes and sits outside their home and they feed it and talk with it. She mentioned that the fact I felt drawn to take this image is so special because it felt like he was watching over her on her special day. Even when it feels strange, it is so important to follow your gut. It's incredible and so humbling to know that this story and photograph will be passed down through generations.
11.01.2022 my Kodo families understand that capturing family memories should be effortless. There should be no pressure to be someone they aren’t. There should be no pressure for the kids to be on their perfect behaviour and to force smiles. Kodo is all about capturing moments in play, either in your own home or at a location that holds value to your family. Just come as you are.
09.01.2022 Here we go! 7 days.
08.01.2022 Raw stories are at the heart of what I do. And I think photographing stories in thunderstorms is becoming a new favourite of mine! Here is another little before and after for your Tuesday. I absolutely love how a simple Black & White edit can really enhance the emotion in an image. I had the privilege of photographing the beautiful Cebile, IN THE MIDDLE OF A THUNDERSTORM, for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games project! I think we photographed for a total of 10 minutes bec...ause of the rain, but boy did we snap some incredible shots. Here's her story. "I started doing athletics at the age of ten back in New Zealand. At that age I was predominantly playing hockey, It was not until school principal at the time said I should consider taking up sprinting because of my raw talent. At first I wasn’t to overly keen to do [athletics], because I compared my self to the other kids. I wasn’t tall enough, strong enough or fast enough, and the anxiety I always felt at the start line was too much. Even though the odds were against me, I put my head down and worked hard. I didn’t have a proper coach until I was 13, so I just used to go to the track with my dad most mornings and just run. How much effort you put in at training is a direct reflection of who you are. This is my passion and pure dedication makes you great. The feeling of accomplishing your goals is pure bliss. I wouldn’t trade a thing as it has made me who I am." 07.01.2022 years in the making. relaunching very, very soon.
07.01.2022 I was photographing to the left of these two, when I turned around and saw them like this. No posing, no forced smiles, no fake emotion. Just genuine connection between father & son. The stories that unfold between frames, matter.
06.01.2022 one of the most common comments I hear from the mamas that I snap is how much it means to them to actually be IN the photos, instead of always taking them. I remember chatting to one Mama who looked at a photograph of her comforting her youngest daughter, and she got extremely emotional. She mentioned that she had been wanting to capture such moments for years; just the real moments of being a Mum that no one sees, but are the most important.
06.01.2022 golden mornings at home with Mama.
04.01.2022 oh, Jonah. So precious and so kind hearted. His Mama & Papa were outside gardening, and he just sat in this spot the entire time watching, learning and waving, before begging them to allow him to come and help. // These little moments shape who we become.
02.01.2022 3 days til launch. I am SO pumped!
01.01.2022 How beautiful is this little family? I've been snapping them since first bub (Adeline, pictured) was born, and now it's time for bub #2! There is nothing better than golden hour & a stunning family! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU INVESTED INTO CAPTURING FAMILY MOMENTS? Family sessions are all about enjoying quality time with your family, making incredible memories and capturing what makes your family unique. I believe that in order to best capture who you are as a family, and yo...ur story, I need to let you, be YOU. Therefore, my focus is on letting moments happen. And that's exactly what this session was. Dreamy.
01.01.2022 here’s a little secret. EVERY single package includes something tangible; whether that is a glass box of fine art prints, a linen album or frames for your wall. Why have I designed my sessions like this? Because your moments & stories don’t deserve to sit on a USB or an online gallery. They deserve to be shown, felt and heard. Your family story, values & traditions hold power. Don’t let your stories sit in the archives. #5days
01.01.2022 oh lil Parker. How much fun it was to capture your bubbly & vibrant personality
