25.01.2022 Hi All, As you are no doubt aware, following the Prime Ministers statements yesterday, sports clubs and indoor venues have been asked to close in an effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19 (Corona Virus). It’s with a very heavy heart that I must follow the law and temporarily close the karate club effective immediately until told we can reopen by the government.... I have put my heart, soul, blood, sweat and everything I have into Kofukan Karate and seeing kids and adults alike grow and increase in confidence, discipline and self-respect has meant the world to me. I ask for your support going forward and to keep everything crossed that we get to open again sooner rather than later. Both Belinda and I want each of you to take care of yourselves and your family during this time. Our thoughts are with you. During this week I’ll be putting together training videos of basics and kata, that the kids can follow, and parents can use to entertain the kids during a lock-down if or when that occurs. I’ll be posting the videos when ready to the Facebook page and the karatemandurah.com website. If you still have not paid any of your term 1 invoice we kindly ask you to do so. Without this there may not be another Mandurah Karate club to return too. For all that are paid up I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Both Belinda and I are heart broken. Once again we thank every single one of you.

25.01.2022 Hi all we will provide a further update tomorrow once we have spoken to the venues to confirm training. At this stage, if training goes ahead anyone over 12 will be required to wear a mask and we ask that spectators wear a mask and abide by social distancing. We ask everyone use the SafeWA app that is available at all our venues.... Thank you

24.01.2022 Hi Mandurah Students, I've just emailed everyone links to the latest Junior, Junior Advanced and Senior training videos. Again please let me know how you're finding the training videos, are they useful? Are the kids finding them easy to follow? Do you need other topics covered?... I'll be posting another 6 videos next week, 2 per class to finish Term 1 and get them through to the 'school holidays'. I'm setting up a Google Classroom for Term 2 so students can access the videos as well as upload videos of themselves to me and I can assess, give tips and encouragement. More info will be sent to everybody as I work it out. Stay safe and be kind. Sensei Iain.

15.01.2022 It’s crazy times at the moment and everyone needs to do their bit to try and minimise the spread of the COVID-19 (Corona) virus. The Mandurah Karate Club will remain active and continue running classes and we will follow future advice from the Australian government. What can we all do:... Please wash your hands regularly. Please don’t come to classes if the following applies to you: Have travelled overseas within the last 14 days Have symptoms of fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath. We as a community need to work together to ensure this virus doesn’t spread and we are all doing our bit to minimise the impact.

10.01.2022 Following government guidelines from today we will have QR code’s and contact registers available for your use at all dojo’s (example below) From Mark McGowan: While Western Australia remains free of community transmission, we are doing everything possible to ensure our State is prepared, in case COVID-19 returns in our community. ... So, beginning today, certain businesses and venues will be required to keep a COVID-19 contact register to assist in contact tracing of an outbreak occurred. Our Government has released a free app, SafeWA, to make the process as quick and easy as possible, and paper registers will also be available. Businesses or venues required to keep a contact register include: - food and licenced venues (restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, taverns, nightclubs); - gyms, indoor sporting centres and pools; - places of worship and funeral parlours; - beauty and personal care services including hairdressers and barbers; - galleries and museums; - cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues; - auction houses and real estate inspections; - community facilities, libraries and halls; - zoos and amusement parks; - function centres; and - accommodation facilities that already have check-in arrangements in place (i.e. hostels, hotels, large campgrounds). Records will ONLY be used for the purpose of COVID-19 contact tracing, should it be required, and will only be kept for 28 days and not used for any other purpose. To download SafeWA, visit www.wa.gov.au/SafeWA
09.01.2022 Hi everyone, Concerning dates of when normal training can resume. The Government has put a number of very tight regulations on people and businesses hiring sporting facilities, both privately and through local shires. These are being enforced by the police.... I have to report details of each student attending classes and show how i intend to maintain social distancing while training before any hiring can be booked in. Signage has to be posted, cleaning has to be done and even then it's only to a maximum of 20 people in the room, including teachers. Because of these restrictions it may mean we will not return to normal training until stage 3 restrictions (4 weeks time) are brought in which will hopefully make it less restrictive on clubs and hirers and raise the group numbers to a max of 100. Contact will also be allowed, student detail reporting will not be needed and social distancing will be slightly relaxed, cleaning and signage will probably remain though. I understand everyone's frustrations in this though as i am also very keen to start back as well. I'll keep everyone up to date via the facebook page as soon as i know the exact return dates. Please bare with us, we will be back up and running as soon as is humanly possible. Sensei Iain.

02.01.2022 Hi All, so everybody is aware, concerning the COVID-19 (Corona) virus situation, the Mandurah Karate Club is aligning with the WA school system. If the schools are open for business then so are we. Our class sizes are generally smaller than school classroom sizes and therefore are well within current recommended guidelines. If however, there are students who are unwell please refrain from attending but if you are healthy then please support the club and come to training.
