25.01.2022 Kondinin Building Service were proud sponsors of the Kondinin Burnout Challenge held on the weekend. We prepared and concreted the new hook on the pad as well as providing the portable toilets and temporary fencing. Well done to the volunteers who organised this event. Although not my passion I did enjoy the night finals with the coloured smoke. Kondinin Burnout Challenge #localbusiness #burnouts #portabletoilethire #tempfencing
19.01.2022 Kondinin Building Service provided the generator to power Lane, the brilliant singer at the Gourmet in the Garden. This event was held in our beautiful community garden on Friday night. This generator is available to hire from us. Get in contact for a quote.
18.01.2022 The Kondinin Building Service Team wishes you a Happy Easter. Easter Egg Hunts have always been a bit competitive at the Smeeds. With only Zali home this year there will be no competition for her - lucky girl, she gets all the chocolate. #localbusiness #smallbusinessowner #Easter #Easteregghunts #competitive
17.01.2022 Richard has been making a few trips back and forth to Perth lately to take his dad to doctor's and specialist's appointments. Whenever a trip to Perth is scheduled there is always some sort of pick-up required of material to keep the business ticking along. Earlier this week Richard drove to Perth in his ute, hired a truck, picked up mesh, drove home, unloaded the mesh, took the truck back to Perth and brought his ute home. It is a rare occasion when I can get to and from Perth without a phone call..."Can you please pick up..." #smallbusiness #localbusiness #buildingmaterials #daytrip
15.01.2022 Driving People Style Less responsive, more assertive. Speak, walk and decide quickly. Less emotionally expressive. Voice louder, direct eye-contact.... Works efficiently. Delegates. Wants things completed yesterday. Outcome focussed. Focus more on the facts than feelings. "Tell-oriented." Richard came out of the people styles survey with driving style with a score of 5, whilst his analytical score was 7. Who do you know with this style? #localbusiness #smallbusiness #peoplestyles #driving #wantitdoneyesterday
13.01.2022 One of the components of my study has involved learning about different people styles. Thinking about how many people we interact with in our working and personal life, it has been interesting finding out how you can communicate with these different styles to get the best out of them. There are four people styles: analytical, driving , amiable and expressive. I will post characteristics over the next few days of each style. See if you can work out what style you are.
12.01.2022 Today I have started a Women in Leadership course. This is a four month online course. I hope that I can learn skills that make me more valuable to our business, my job and the community that we call home. 12.01.2022 Analytical People Style Less responsive, less assertive Task oriented, not people oriented Prefer quality over quantity Like things done right, have high standards, perfectionist, stickler for details... Hard on themselves and others Agonise over decisions Time management a challenge Tardy in meeting deadlines Like to think things through Don't act impulsively Do you fit into this style? I think this is Richard to a tee.
07.01.2022 I think this quote is poignant to our business. It is a hard slog to get success and to maintain that success. Sometimes we wish there was an elevator, but that too could have the reverse effect and have you tumbling to failure quickly. #smallbusiness #localbusiness #hardworkpaysoffs #success
04.01.2022 Amiable Style More responsive, less assertive. People friendly. Personable, easy going manner. Empathetic.... Care what others think/want. More interested in others concerns than expressing their own. Compassion shows in their face, eyes and words. Slower in forming opinions. Like to work 1-1 or in small groups. Don't seek limelight. Generous with their time. Quick to help others. Comfortable with eye contact. Reluctant to give others feedback as they have fear of offending. Comfortable doing routine procedures that are established by others. Rely on gestures when communicating. This is one of the people styles that I came out with. I actually scored the same for analytical and expressive, but can see more characteristics of me in this style. Who has an amiable people style that you know of? #smallbusiness #localbusiness #peoplestyles #amiable #empathetic #helpingothers
03.01.2022 Last night I attended a workshop run by Cullen Macleod lawyer, Catriona Macleod on understanding the new Work & Health Safety Act (2020) in regards to industrial manslaughter, how it affects you and your business, and what to do to best protect you, your business and your workers. The new legislation imposes a primary duty of care requiring persons conducting a business to reasonably ensure the health and safety of workers. The bill introduces a maximum penalty of between fiv...e to 20 years imprisonment for individuals, along with fines of up to $10 million for companies. The Trade industry is one of the occupations that will be hit hard as they tend to work in a more dangerous environment. What we need to do is to ensure safety procedures are in place and documented. This has to be reasonable and practicable for our business. Thanks to @wheatbeltbiznetwork for organising the evening. #OHS #industrialmanslaughter #smallbusiness #localbusiness
