24.01.2022 Another big day. Sorted a couple clients who were still backing up to USB!!! oh lordy. So now on dropbox, backup is automated. I know there are many more of you out there. It wasn't important back in the ADSL days, as the internet was generally slower than your WiFi, but now that we have NBN you probably have areas in your house that it lags a bit? The typical solution is another access point, with another network name or an extender which is extending an already poor signal. Issue with this, is that most devices wont let go of a poor WiFi network to join a better network until the poor signal network is out of range. So you ca...n see the issue, your on the good WiFi at one end of house and by the time you walk to the other (where there is a closer access point) your still on poor signal from the one at the other end of the house. Doesn't have to be that way, and its not as expensive as you think. We love the ubiquiti unifi access-points, used in conjunction with the cloud key, automatically hands your devices over to the best access point. You gets a cool app that lets you manage your devices and access points to see who is using up all the data, and you can setup networks for guests or kids with limited speed or time of day access. Many people still think of OneDrive from a few years ago, its evolved into such a comprehensive product. One client will save around 2k per annum! 06.01.2022 MFA, 2-Step, its pretty much the same thing. Its adding an additional layer of security to your access on top of your username and password. If your a small to medium business, use cloud services and are not using MFA, its the single most important feature that you should have activated and one of, if not the best authentication security mechanism you can use. And... all google apps and office365 users have access to this, for free! 03.01.2022 Managed IT services. What a term. Couldnt find it any more confusing. What do you get for your money? Often it means enrollment of all your devices, all your documentation, and your decisions on your IT future (including your chosen cloud partners) locked away with someones ideal financial return. OK, sure... thats not fair on the IT industry, but i see its often the norm. Ask your IT provider... where is the documentation on my system? who else can i use for my cloud services? how easy can i use a new provider if you dont perform? why do i need to sign a contract for cheaper rates?
