19.01.2022 BOO 7 Yrs M/C 978102100003672 Adoption fee $350 PLEASE SHARE Someone home a lot. Single dog home. No cats.... Hi my name is Bo. Hope you like my photo's, how about the one with my tongue up my nose, I bet you can't do that :) Sadly family circumstances have changed and I need to find a new home. I’m scared of loud noises, thunder & lightening and heavy rain. I love my cuddles and belly rubs, they are my favourite things, I also love the shell pool filled with water. I would love to be with someone who is home a lot so that if a storm comes they can be there for me. I’m not house trained but will learn really quickly, SRV have a trick called a belly band which you can google, one of those will prevent me from messing inside the home. I'm a very well behaved boy, I know how to sit, Shake hands, stay on the bed & wait for my food. I would benefit from going to obedience school with my new owners, which I hope is really soon. Below are some notes on my behavioural assessment. Summary of Test summary of observation and testing Booga is a sociable dog (seeks interaction with humans) but was a little stressed during the assessment therefore some results may vary Lots of movement, running around with minimal investigation and lots of drinking (perhaps due to elevated stress levels) High drive levels, especially with toy and can become a little obsessed with toy Somewhat tolerant to touch, is fine with a simple stroke but becomes a little mouthy when you try and touch feet etc. Nil resource guarding evident at time of testing Is a little hard on the hand when taking treats Nil reaction to sudden environmental stimuli Has some very basic training can pull a little on the lead whilst walking Dog test inconclusive but would recommend caution. Mostly ignores dogs, which does not mean he wants to interact with them. Adoption Criteria Active individuals only Not tested with cats Requires some stimulation and exercise Single dog household So if you think you can offer me a good forever home where you’ll be able to give me all the above, and, in return, I’ll give you all the love and loyalty you could ask for! Please go to www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au where you will find the Adoption Application. Please make sure you read all the information on the Adoption page, as well as the links at the bottom.

07.01.2022 This also includes simply - my dogs are on the lead because we're walking home up the road. So please don't let your two 'friendly' labradors come racing over t...o my 5 on lead dogs, including my 13 week old puppy who is just learning about other dogs. If he was a nervous puppy, he might now be worried about black labs for life. Letting your off lead dog/s run up to a group of on lead dogs could have disastrous consequences, two of mine are 13 years plus, and my ten year old has an injury. All of my dogs were totally under control and luckily none of them are reactive - but how could this person tell that as her labs ran across the lane to me. Please think when you see a dog on lead, and do not let your dog run up to them. Image is from Doggie Drawings by Lili Chin See more

06.01.2022 Check this out everyone!!! Great message and so important to spend the time on your dog!!!

05.01.2022 One of the most common reasons that dog owners seek help from trainers is for assistance with dogs that pull on leash. Owners often try a variety of different m...ethods and equipment without success. Our top piece of advice for those struggling to teach their dogs to walk nicely on leash is to choose an environment that the dog is capable of learning in. For an environmentally focused dog, attempting to teach them to walk nicely on a busy suburban street or in the middle of a park is like taking a young child to a theme park and attempting to teach them algebra for the first time. Learning a new behaviour in such a distracting environment will be very difficult for the dog, and often leads to frustration for both them and their owner. Find a place where your dog is comfortable and relaxed to begin your loose lead walking training, with no distractions and enough room to move around. Your backyard, an empty shopping centre car park, or even your lounge room can be a great place to start. Once your dog has the basics down in this environment, gradually increase the level of distraction, ensuring your dog is set up for success, until you can walk together in your goal environment. Trying to skip to the end part of the process and expecting your dog to walk nicely under high distractions when they don’t know how to do it under no distractions is like skipping to college when you haven’t been through kindergarten. Take the time to ace the foundations with your dog, and the process will be much smoother and less frustrating for you both! If you need assistance with teaching a dog to walk nicely on lead, we offer a variety of group classes or private lessons for dogs of different ages. Contact us to see what would suit your dog best!
