24.01.2022 Just received a photo of a set of medals that I had completed for a mate. Even though he live in another state that’s no problem I will always ensure that all medals are packed so you will receive them in tip top condition.

24.01.2022 Hi everyone, well I have been busy one way or another and I got to meet some really top people. One of those people was a retired soldier who has started to raise money to help his fellow veterans in need. So I have decided to give him a helping hand. This is his story below. Hi, I am a veteran of 31 years in the Australian Army, serving in places such as Bougainville, East Timor, Afghanistan and Solomon Islands. I was medically discharged from the Army in Jan 2017 due to suf...fering physical and mental injuries whilst serving my country. After being administered to Ward 17 for the second time, I started paracording and I haven’t looked back. I now make virtually anything using paracord for charities such as THE PATH OF THE HORSE and WARD 17 AUSTIN REPATRIATION HOSPITAL. So when you buy one of these items, you will be buying something that I put my heart and soul into making for a fellow Australian to wear with pride, knowing that your donation will help other veterans in need. So what I have done is that I have a large stock of para-cord items now and from now until the 10 Dec I will give one away with every order and donate $10 for each one to provide that added assistance to our wider family. Just a reminder that ANZAC Day is around the corner . Cheers Mick

24.01.2022 On November 7th, 1920, in strictest secrecy, four unidentified British bodies were exhumed from temporary battlefield cemeteries at Ypres, Arras, the Asine and the Somme. None of the soldiers who did the digging were told why. The bodies were taken by field ambulance to GHQ at St-Pol-Sur-Ter Noise. There the bodies were draped with the union flag. Sentries were posted and Brigadier-General Wyatt and a Colonel Gell selected one body at random. A French honour guard was selecte...d and stood by the coffin overnight. On the morning of the 8th, a specially designed coffin made of oak from the grounds of Hampton Court was brought and the unknown warrior placed inside. On top was placed a crusaders sword and a shield on which was inscribed '( a British Warrior who fell in the GREAT WAR 1914-1918 for king and country'. On The 9th of November, the unknown warrior was taken by horse-drawn carriage through guards of honour and the sound of tolling bells and bugle calls to the quayside. There it was saluted by Marechal Foche and loaded onto HMS Vernon bound for Dover..... the coffin stood on the deck covered in wreaths and surrounded by the French honour guard. On arrival at Dover, the unknown warrior was greeted with a 19 gun salute, normally only reserved for field marshals. He then traveled by special train to Victoria Station London. He stayed there overnight and on the morning of the 11th of November, he was taken to Westminster Abbey. The idea of the unknown warrior was thought of by a Padre called David Railton who had served at the front during the great war and it was the union flag he used as an altar cloth at the front, that had been draped over the coffin. It was his intention that all relatives of the 517,773 combatants whose bodies had not been identified could believe that the unknown warrior could very well be their lost husband, Father, brother or son.... Every year on the 11th of November we Remember the unknown warrior....At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them.

23.01.2022 Today Mates4Mates National Appeal Day is officially underway. For 24 hours, Mates4Mates is aiming to raise $50,000 to provide more services to veterans impacted by injuries and mental health issues, and their families. We all have mates that have needed help from one time or another and I know personally that if it wasn’t for organisations such as Mates4Mates I would have a lot less friends today. Donations will be tripled by the support of generous corporate partners. Today ...Mates4Mates is calling on our support and community to get behind them and help ensure no mate is left behind They can’t do it without you. If you’ve already donated, thank you. Please let friends and family know they can also donate by sharing this link on social media: www.mates4matesappeal.org

23.01.2022 We cannot gather together for ANZAC Day but we can still participate. Take the poppy pledge this ANZAC. https://www.poppypledge.com.au

22.01.2022 There are somethings in life that effect the ones you love and you wonder how to help them. For family members of ADF and our Front Line Service personnel they are often left picking up the pieces and hoping for someone to step in and give them a helping hand. Dean Mighell is one of those people who leads from the front by starting a service known as The Path of the Horse, which is located in country Victoria. He does this off his own bat with everyday people giving what they can to keep him going. I know first hand with the help he has provided to my brother. If you are able to help please do as the money goes a long way to heal the wounds of our bravest men and women. https://m.facebook.com/pathofthehorse/ https://youtu.be/UAiaIATeBPI

21.01.2022 Kapyong Battle On the night of 22 April 1951, Chinese forces launched a major offensive against United Nations forces defending the South Korean capital, Seoul, and positions further east. Next morning the 27th British Commonwealth Brigade (including the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment) was ordered to the valley of the Kapyong River about 60 kilometres north-east of Seoul, where South Korean forces were being driven back. During a night of fierce fighting and through...out the daylight hours of 24 April the Australians and a Canadian battalion, supported by a New Zealand artillery regiment, stalled the Chinese advance before eventually withdrawing after dark. At a cost of 32 men killed, 59 wounded and three missing (taken prisoner), the Australians had helped hold up the Chinese 60th Division and inflicted heavy casulaties which totalled more than 500 killed alone. For their contribution to this action, 3 RAR was awarded a US Presidential Citation. I was lucky enough to mount a set of medals for the grandson of PTE Gordon Wells who served in Korea. His grandson is a member of the ADF and will wear them today at 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment parade here in Townsville.

21.01.2022 Yesterday I was given a fantastic honour to give the ANZAC Day resolution as well as a prayer for peace. To be the ADF representative at Gaythorn RSL has been a significant highlight in my career. I was even able to catch up with friends that I didn’t know where in the crowd.

19.01.2022 Here is a hero doing what he can to help. Thank you CAPT Tom for what you have done to help your fellow countryman. We can all help get through this together as a team.

15.01.2022 Micks Medals will restore all types of medals back to their former glory. If you have any medals that requires that TLC just send me an email.

14.01.2022 Did you or a family member serve on Operation Philippines Assist 2013 or on Operation Pacific Assist (Vanuatu) 2015? The Governor-General has declared the above two natural disaster operations eligible for the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal. The medal recognises Australian groups who are exposed to risk or danger when performing humanitarian service in hazardous overseas settings.... For eligibility criteria and to submit an application as a former serving member, family member or next-of-kin visit www.defence.gov.au/medals Current serving members are not required to submit an application. Micks Medals will be working with suppliers to get the clasps manufactured ASAP.

14.01.2022 Micks Medals will be out of town but will be back by the 29 Mar. For everyone that has placed an order in they will be completed and dispatched well before ANZAC Day. I will not be able to answer any text or email while I'm away. Cheers Mick

12.01.2022 Well here are some of the medals that I have been able to put together so that they can be proudly worn on ANZAC Day. I’m really enjoying working with some of the different combinations of medals.

10.01.2022 Well we have just stepped out of the bush and will be heading back home Friday. From the day we stepped into the bush to the day we stepped out it rained. Well once we settled into our daily routine it wasn't as bad as some might think as the weather was warm but steamy. I think my body deserve a break and I will be happy for a hot shower, dry socks and a soft bed.

08.01.2022 Well it has been a while since my last post. So I would like to share some of the medals I have worked on. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Cheers Mick

07.01.2022 I was reading a post in one of the RACT FB pages and it hit close to home so I thought, what can I do to help this family out. I didn’t know Brian but he belonged to the same corps as I do. I emailed Jo and now I will be sending her a shirt complete with medals and accoutrements. The only thing I will get out of this project is knowing that I was able to bring a little happiness to a family. Hi People, This is a photo of my brother Brian, he passed away in 2014. I would like to get my parents a replica of everything on his shirt - I know the medals but I'm unsure of the pin above his right pocket, the blue strap across his chest. Any information anyone can give me would be very much appreciated, thank you Jo.

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, well it has started to get busy with troops returning back from ops and people getting ready for ANZAC Day. Here are just a few sets of medals that I have completed over the past few months. I have to say that it has been an exciting few months getting to do some fantastic sets of medals. It’s always a pleasure remounting medals of people who I have had the pleasure to serve with over the years and to see the end result. Cheers Mick

06.01.2022 When I started Micks Medals I didn’t know that it would have a roll on effect in supporting our ADF members with their journey. My brother completed over 30 years in the Army and still today is fighting his battles. If everyone could pick a charity and give $50 a year to help our veterans we will be able to ensure no one is left behind. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UAiaIATeBPI

04.01.2022 What a project that I was asked to get involved in. The belt below belonged to a member of MZ Force, Lloyd’s Searle. I will place each segment of information over the next eight posts. It has taken a friend and myself the better part of six days on and off to get the information together.

04.01.2022 I was asked if I could mount a set of WW1 or WW2 medals for a mannequin to be placed on display for ANZAC Day. When I was approached I had no problems in giving a number of sets to help out a good cause that wanted to showcase and honour our veterans so I supplied a set of WW2, Vietnam and Middle East campaigns medals. WOW I was sent these photos today and apparently the display is located at DFO in Jindalee. So if you are in the Brisbane area and you happen to be at that DFO store send me a photo and I will place it on my page with your concent. PS. Due to the pins, we could not put medals on the dresses but am working on a magnet option for delicate fabric.
