24.01.2022 Please Excuse the mess, We are busy Learning! Messy play is extremely important for a childs development. It provides children with an exciting tactile and sensory experience that inspires their curiosity, allows them to explore the world around them and enhances their learning, langauge and creativity.

24.01.2022 Thank You! We would like to say a big 'Thank you' to all of our wonderful families and our hardworking Educators and staff for all of their support and well wishes during these unforseen times. Though we may not see you all in the next six weeks, we are thinking of you all!... We believe it is important to keep in touch and communciate with one another even though we may not be able to see each other face to face. Technology has been a blessing for many at this time with allowing us to see our families and friends from the comfort of our homes when we are unable to visit them in person. Until we see each other again, take care and keep an eye on our Kool Konnect App. Our Educators are working hard planning and preparing activities and ideas that you can do at home! We would love to see what you've been getting up to at home, even if it's just going for a walk, doing some reading or drawing! Please feel free share your own photos and messages to the app, I'm sure the children would love to see their friends busy paying at home. We love to see all of your smiling faces and positivity in such difficult times. It makes coming to work that much easier and makes it feel like a home away from home. Stay safe everyone, we will see you soon!

22.01.2022 Emotional Regulation Emotions can get really big and tricky to understand or express when you are little! We can be happy, angry, sad, nervous, frustrated or sleepy and not know how to manage all of these feelings and sometimes they just have to burst out.... Our emotional learning sets our foundation for who we will become and how we identify with the world we live in. To help our little learners find themselves and learn about their feelings, we encourage and promote agency and expression and that it's okay to share our emotions.

22.01.2022 From all of us at Kool kidz Rowville we would like to wish all our families a very Merry Christmas.

21.01.2022 The children have been very busy making masterpieces this week! Creative expression is so important to a child's learning journey. It aids in developing fine motor skills, sensory awareness, self regulation and so much more. Creating art is not just about the final product but the process in which it is made.... We hope you enjoy a peak at our virtual gallery!

21.01.2022 Last but not least, we would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas from our KKR management team! May your holidays be merry and bright

20.01.2022 National NAIDOC Week 2020 celebrations were this year held between the 8-15 November. The November dates follow the decision by the National NAIDOC Committee (NNC) to postpone NAIDOC Week from the original July dates due to the impacts and uncertainty from the escalating Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across our communities and cities. This year our theme is Always Was, Always Will Be. First People of Australia (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) have the oldest liv...ing and continuous cultures in the world. First People have been caring for this country since time immemorial with artists, educators, scientists and activists contributing to all areas of Australia’s community. This week we celebrated NAIDOC WEEK by learning about our indigenous people. We also had a very special performance by one of our talented children playing the digeredoo

20.01.2022 We are currently taking enrolments for 2021

Every day Next week please feel free to dress up as your favourite storybook characters to help us celebrate and embrace the importance of Early Literacy and inspire the creativity and imagination. This years theme is 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds' What are you going to come dressed as?

18.01.2022 Our Little Library space is providing children and Educators with the opportuniity to create learning experiences in flexible surroundings and situations while supporting small shared group activities. Story time at our reading nook has become a hit with the children where they look forward to swapping stories that they have in their rooms add exchanging them for something new that they have selected themselves. It has been wonderful to observe the space in action with children engaging in language, performing music and dancing and even show and tell. Our little learners are becoming more confident and independent every day Our versatile space has become an area that each room is able to make use of and adapt to suit their individual needs, almost like our own room for requirement!

What beautiful artworks!

14.01.2022 ROOAARR! Did I just stumble into Jurassic Park?? No, thank goodness its just one of our Small World play experiences! Following the childrens interests in all things prehistoric, our Caterpillar Room Educators have created an area for the children to engage with imaginative and creative expression while exploring dinosaurs paired with natural resources.... Small world play experiences encourage communication and social skills through dramatic play and storytelling as well as intellectual exploration and questioning of knowledge and inquisitive thinking. Small world play is not only fun and exciting but beneficial to a childs social and emotional development. I wonder what kind of world we will see next time! What kind of Small World experiences would your child be interested in?

14.01.2022 Victorian Chief Health Officer message to parents I am writing to Victorian parents, carers and students today to seek every familys support in slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victoria. As the school holidays approach, we cant ease up on looking after ourselves and our families. The only thing between us and a second wave is what we do next.... Wherever you go, please be mindful of the risks. Be aware others may be carrying the virus and practice physical distancing. We are currently experiencing the highest case numbers weve seen in more than two months. Current evidence suggests that the rise in case numbers in Victoria is being driven by families having get-togethers and not following advice around physical distancing and hygiene. Unfortunately, we are still in a pandemic and peoples lives are still at risk. As weve seen across the world, this virus has the ability to turn a small number of cases into hundreds in a matter of days. This is not where we want to be and we must all act now while we can. This is why weve had to implement a number of revised restrictions. The number of visitors you can have at your home is now reduced to five. Outside the home, families and friends can meet in groups up to ten. This is how each and every member of the community can help: Stay safe while out in the community. Stay safe at home. And that means only seeing those you need to. Dont have big family gatherings and remember to keep your distance and maintain good hygiene. Dont share food or drinks. If you, or anyone in your family is feeling unwell stay at home. Dont visit friends and family. Dont go on holiday if you are unwell and dont go to work. Dont send your kids to school, childcare or kindergarten if they are unwell - stay home. And if you have symptoms, get tested. The vast majority of Victorians are doing the right thing, but this is a wake-up call and we cannot be complacent. Its up to all of us to keep our friends and families safe. For current information and updates on coronavirus (COVID-19) visit the Victorian Governments coronavirus website. If anyone in your family has any of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, they should stay at home, seek advice and get tested. These symptoms include fever, chills or sweats, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath or runny nose, or loss of sense of smell or taste. For more information about where to get tested visit the getting tested for coronavirus web page. If youre concerned yourself or a family member has contracted the virus and need more information, please call the 24-hour coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398. Adj Clin Prof Brett Sutton Victorian Chief Health Officer

I will be encouraging the staff to wear masks in the service although masks are NOT compulsory for the educators... for the time being. Again, I know this is a challenging time. 08.01.2022 When the sun is out, the bugs come out! This morning our inquisitive Kinder children have been searching the veggie patch and garden for bugs. We found some Slater bugs, millipedes and some teeny tiny ants. Educators discussed with the children what they thought bugs would eat and where they would sleep.... The children worked together to create a home in a bucket for our creepy crawly friends with some dirt, leaves, grass and some water for them to drink when they get thirsty. Though they would like to keep them forever, the Educators also discussed that it is important for the bugs to go back to the garden, to their real homes. The children are growing enthusiastic about the world around them and are showing care and concern for other living creatures. Maybe we have some future vets, doctors, nurses and teachers amongst us! 06.01.2022 Play is Purposeful, and Drives Learning. Friedrich Frobel was a German Educator who created the concept of Kindergarten and was influential in the educational reform Of the 19th Century. Meaning is created through hands on, self-directed play in an environment rich with conversation, independence and the opportunity for children to develop at their own pace. See our busy learners in action!

05.01.2022 The children were showing interest in being doctors through their dramatic play. The children were each taking turns fixing each other and giving Medicine to make they feel better. To further explore this interest I used the light box and got out some X-rays for the children to look at. We discussed the bones in our hands, our skull and the bones in our leg. This started lots of great discussion about medication and the human body.

05.01.2022 Accidents happen, however our everyday life presents us with challenges where we are to make informed judgements on how to manage ourselves. From a very young age, children can learn to build resilience and persistence through open-ended play. The children have the experience to take chances and experiment outcomes and test their limits.

05.01.2022 Splishing and Splashing! With the hotter weather settling in, we have seen our budding scientists experiment with water and its properties to not only keep cool, but to learn! We have made water runs to investigate how water travels, we have used sensory tubs to discover what sinks and what floats and we have also made use of the play water to water our garden at the end of the day once we were done.... Through one type of play, the children can learn a variety of concepts such as Mathematics, Science, Physics and an awareness of conservation and recycling. Keep an eye out on what our busy learners get up to next time, they are always having buckets of fun!

04.01.2022 A Day in the Life of a Kool Kid! Here is a quick snapshot of some of the things our busy learners get up to during the day. 03.01.2022 Our little explorers have been busy this morning investigating sensory and tactile experiences. Sensory play can stimulate touch, hearing, smell, taste and movement. Sensory engagement is often linked to our episodic and semantic memory where we can recall personal experiences or general facts through long term memory, Just like when a memory can be triggered by a certain smell, taste or even a song!
