25.01.2022 This is a China Pear Guava which I made guava paste out of. Regardless of the colour of the guava they all turn out brown! Delicious with cheese and biscuits. I was inspired by my cousin Ann N Graham Gourlay in Tasmania who makes quince paste. I didn't have any quinces - hopefully our tree arrives at Macleay Valley Nursery this month so we will have in the future.

25.01.2022 Our first jackfruit from the Brinsmead Special bought from Daleys Fruit Tree Nursery. I think I picked it a bit soon but was worried about it rotting due to the rain. It started to smell the house out but I think I could have left it another week or so on the tree. Tastes delicious.

22.01.2022 Today's yield from the pineapple patch. I will have to extend the patch to plant the pups and tops.

21.01.2022 Passionfruit, persimmons, pineapples & pomegranates picked last weekend. Had to pick some early due to bats & bird damage.

20.01.2022 Our extended pineapple patch - from the 1st photo to now looking like the 2nd. One of the pups I planted March this year is now developing a pineapple. 3rd photo shows one of the pups growing on an old plant which had a pineapple. Once they get big enough I will plant them and dig out the old plant.

17.01.2022 This is our Crisp Seedling which seems to cope better with the humidity.

16.01.2022 Our passionfruit have come from a vine that was left in a pot and forgotten about. They are large, have deep yellow flesh and smell the house out when opened. It is the most prolific and the other vines were planted!

13.01.2022 While our olive tree can't compete with Villa Caravaggio we are pleased that it is in flower and hopefully we will have lots of olives unless the pigeons get them.

13.01.2022 Looks like some weird alien lifeform has taken up residence in the vege garden.

13.01.2022 For the first time we have fruit on our 2 Brimsmead Specials. The jackfruit are meant to be latex free. We shall wait and see. We have had a problem with Downy Mildew due to the high humidity so only 3 trees have produced fruit.

12.01.2022 The fence went up, the cows came in and the grass went down. 13 cows and 3 calves made short work of our bottom paddock - took them about 3 weeks to eat it all.

12.01.2022 Our first attempt at making mead from the honey given to us by Matt our bee man and our pomegranates. So the demijohn on the left has the pomegranates added and the one on the right is plain mead. We had a lot of pomegranates this year and our freezer is full. Might try making pomegranate wine next.

08.01.2022 Finally got around to dehydrating the citrus. From the top we are drying lemonade fruit then blood oranges, lemons and at the bottom are the ordinary oranges. Once dried and dipped in chocolate absolutely delicious. Will also add to my herbal teas.

07.01.2022 Country Wine making. Our first batch of Black Grumichama wine.

05.01.2022 Arachnura higginsi - a scorpion tailed spider in one of the finger lime trees. 1st photo shows the egg sac. Despite the name they are quite harmless.

03.01.2022 If you look hard you may find native bees on our olive tree and finger limes. They are tiny but do an amazing job and we are pleased they are here.

01.01.2022 We have ducklings again this year. Really enjoy seeing the wildlife around the property
