25.01.2022 TRAIL CLOSURES DUE TO RECENT HIGH WIND AND RAIN EVENT Dreaming Pools Wedged In Garnup... At this stage the rest of the trails are open and are riding well but we can't stress the importance of being aware of the trail conditions. Following trail inspections today unfortunately we have to close the above trails due to the recent weather events. The events have caused a large amount of trees and debris to fall on the trails and they are not safe to ride. We are working diligently to rectify the situation but unfortunately they won't be open until possibly late next week, however we will open the trails as soon as practicable and we will provide updates on this page as the clean up work progresses. We apologise for any inconvenience but safety is paramount.

21.01.2022 If you're in the St Helens area, please be aware that if weather conditions allow, Sustainable Timber Tasmania will be conducting a fuel reduction burn at Launc...eston Creek, to the west of St Helens, from Tuesday, 29 September. This is part of the state-wide Fuel Reduction Program which is aimed at reducing bushfire risk to help protect lives and communities. The burn area is approximately 875 hectares and will take 1-2 days to complete. Smoke may be present in the area for a couple of days after the burn is complete. The public is asked to remain well out of the burn site while the burn is taking place and for the following days until safety checks have been made along tracks and trails. Please comply with directions from staff or any signs if you are in the area. While the fire intensity will be low, it will generate flames, smoke and ash. People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn. Advice is available from the Department of Health and Asthma Australia websites: www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/publichealth/air/precautions https://asthma.org.au/about-asthma/triggers/bushfire-smoke. For air quality information visit: https://epa.tas.gov.au//real-time-air-quality-data-for-tas Further information about this burn is available by contacting Sustainable Timber Tasmania on (03) 6169 2800. A map of planned burns is available here: www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colWhatsBurningNow

20.01.2022 Nominations for the Break O’Day Australian Citizen of the Year are now OPEN, Who will you nominate? Last year’s winner was Pat Green, all those that know Pat ...would agree she has been a very generous volunteer within the Pyengana community. Pat lives close to the recreation ground and for a long time in excess of 30 years, Pat was the sole person who ensured that this facility was clean and in readiness for any community group who wished to use this facility. Pat has shown great community spirit by ensuring that there were activities for those within the community and those visiting either as an organising or volunteer - games nights and money raised from same going back into the community, the Children’s Christmas party, the annual wood chopping carnival to provide funds for St Giles. Pat has been a member of the local Hall committee and was very active in working towards the new shower block which allowed for this area to be opened up for not only overnight campers but also more sporting events to be held at Pyengana.
