25.01.2022 Meet Max Hertan, the creator of YouTube channel, Maxs monthly challenge. He came to me wanting to see how much he can optimise his health so he can get more out of life. Watch the video and see the results. https://youtu.be/504b8QepjR4
25.01.2022 Hunting around for that perfect gift this Christmas? What do you get the person who has everything and is also health conscious, wants abs and bigger biceps ...for Christmas? Solution Genetic Testing! Genetic testing available now at Enterprise Fitness. Take all the guesswork out of optimising your nutrition and supplement protocol and let us help you design a personalised health plan based on your genetics. You could be doing all the right things according to the textbook but are you doing the right things for you and your genome? Research in the field of Nutrigenomics tells us its possible to alter our destiny! Keep specific genes switched off, which have the potential to lead to disease. How is this possible? It comes down to how we treat our bodies: Are we predisposed to disease through lifestyle stressors? Are the foods that were eating causing inflammation? Do the supplements that we take actually need to be in an activated form because we lack some of the enzymes needed for conversion? Do we lack some receptors in our DNA so we may need to eat certain foods or supplement with particular vitamins for life? What diseases are we more prevalent to? These are all questions that we can answer through a simple DNA test. Either DM us, or head to our site to get in touch today. https://bit.ly/2YvUGbx
24.01.2022 ANTIOXIDANTS Im sure everyone has heard this term, whether its in your skin care products, new health craze youre reading about or from your health care practitioner. But what are they? Well to put it simply, they are natural compounds that the body makes to help protect us against excessive free radical formation that can cause damage to cells. This damage can impair the immune system, which leads to inflammation, disease, cancer and accelerated aging. ... Free radicals come mostly from our environment and the toxins and chemicals that we are exposed to on a day to day basis as well as our own metabolic processes. Our body produces scavengers that neutralize the actions of free radicals. The main ones are, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxide, and methionine reductase. Antioxidants are phytochemicals (chemicals from plants), and nutrients such as Vitamin A, C and E, flavonoids, as well as selenium. We can get these from supplements but also from foods in our diet. Symptoms of thyroid imbalances, constant fatigue, unexplained weight gain and reoccurring sinus infections are some of the early signs that tell us that our bodys elimination processes are slowing down and we may need to rethink our current lifestyle and nutrition as well as need some extra support to get our body working efficiently again. Tools that I can use to ascertain what your body is holding onto that is causing chaos for your health are Organic Acid Testing, Hair Mineral Analysis and Blood Pathology. Contact me if you think your body needs a clean out.d
24.01.2022 Did you know... The best way to increase memory and concentration is to exercise! The Hippocampus is the area of your brain that stores memories, increases learning and helps us absorb new information. Research shows that exercise can increase the size of the hippocampus as well as the efficiency of the neural pathways. ... This also means decreasing the incidence of Alzheimer's and cell degeneration that can occur with the natural process of ageing. So if your thinking you should give your training a flick because you have too much work to do or an exam to study for, think again, you may just be decreasing your ability to expand your brain and work and learn more efficiently. Exercise = Superpowers!! https://www.growthengineering.co.uk/train-your-hippocampus/
23.01.2022 Its unsettling times with the COVID-19, making it hard to ignore what is going on around us here in Australia with the empty shelves at the supermarket, the endless posts on social media and news updates and now schools starting to close. While it may seem like everything is out of our control, let me remind you that what we can control is us and how we respond to our environment around us. Community Building: Utilise our local resources by contacting local farmers or fruit...Continue reading
22.01.2022 Research shows that being grateful increases the activity of the hypothalamus as well as our dopamine levels and has a positive effect on our sleep cycle. The hypothalamus is our bodys feedback mechanism which maintains equilibrium in our body. It seems like it would be an easy thing to maintain gratefulness but as humans its all too easy for us to sit in what feels comfortable to us, we like to nurture our grumpy moods, and justify why were upset, angry, hurt and resentf...ul. But what does it do for us? Absolutely F All! So a 10 day challenge which I will do with you. Start and end the day with 10 things you are grateful for. In addition to this, every time you feel annoyed, angry, grumpy, resentful or sad about something, say or list 10 things you are grateful for. https://www.psychologytoday.com//prefrontal-nudity/201211/
22.01.2022 Max helping me mix his herbs to strengthen his immune system before school starts. My boys have been having herbs since they were tiny so the taste doesnt bother them at all. If you have to chase your kids around the house to give it to them, Manuka honey is a great addition to mask the taste and as a bonus has antibacterial properties. If your holidays are coming to the end and your thinking how you can boost yours and/or your familys energy and immune system for the new year contact me at [email protected]

17.01.2022 Feeling inspired by Dr Susan Prescott's work and her mission statement on her home page and how aligned it is with the current times. With restrictions easing and us progressing towards a 'new norm' or even some having to recreate their current life due to losing jobs, businesses and career which have been apart of their identity, its important to reflect and ask ourselves from an ecological standpoint, 'what kind of life do we want? http://www.drsusanprescott.com/planetary-...health.html "For centuries, humans have seen nature as something we must dominate, conquer, and tame, progressively eroding the natural resilience of ecosystems, with the loss of many species more vulnerable than our own. This is not sustainable. This must change. It is time to restore balance in our human social ecosystems, and in the many other ecological systems that we are interconnected with. Our quest for growth and discovery cannot be separated from inspiration, awe and wonder that sustain us on that pathand the vision and purpose to initiate and sustain meaningful change. Intellectual conversations are not enough. We must speak to people's 'hearts' as well as their 'minds' to inspire the vision, the passion and the inspiration for change. Science and technology are essential for progress, but will lack meaning and dimension without the vision and wisdom to apply them. Life was fully dependent upon knowing nature. They accumulated vast knowledge and deep understanding of balance. But they also felt natures awe. Its wonder. This knowledge was not merely intellectual, it was also at the very heart of their purpose and spirituality. "This is time to look forward and not repeat the same mistakes. To work together. To use knowledge more wisely. To listen to age-old wisdom as we make new discoveries. To bring the heart back to science. To bring caring back to life. Now more than ever we need to heed the wisdom of the ancient sages. For thousands of years, from countless cultures, the gentle message has been the samewe need to look within to find the answers to life. So, we must all ask: What kind of life do we want? "The answers lie within all of us. Literally, and in every sense".
16.01.2022 Aloe Vera: One of the juices of the gods. Used internally this amazing succulent benefits in healing the digestive tract, lowering inflammation and scar tissue, decreases constipation and supports liver function. It also decreases symptoms of heartburn and GERD and is great for rehydrating your body and also for reducing skin conditions such as acne or psoriasis. I usually make aloe vera juice for one of my little boys, Oliver, he drinks it instead of having water. The diff...erence it has made for him in decreasing scar tissue and inflammation in his oesophagus is amazing. While I'm told he has silent reflux which shows on a gastroscopy, he has no inflammation or mucosal irritation. While I have used various herbal and natural remedies to help with this, using aloe vera I believe has had one of the greatest impacts on his healing. However since having all this rain in Melbourne my Aloe wonder plant has been attacked by snails and has rotten and been eaten away despite using egg shells and other natural pesticide methods. A couple of days ago I was emailed this article https://www.theseedcollection.com.au/How-to-Build-a-Beer-Tr. Above all snail control methods I've read this seems to be the easiest so thought I'd share for those who have issues with the slime balls.

16.01.2022 The Three Ingredient Antioxidant Juice. 1 celery stalk, 1 tablespoon of ginger, -1 lemon (dependent on individual taste) Celery: Contains amino acids, electrolytes, essential fatty acids and vitamins A, K, C and B vitamins. Ginger: Contains amino acids, vitamins C and select B vitamins. Contains iron, zinc, magnesium, selenium and potassium. Decreases inflammation cleanses and protects the digestive system and stimulates circulation. The phytochemicals in ginger has strong antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, which have research to show its effectiveness in acting against Staphyloccus Aureus and other bacteria. Lemon: Contains amino acids and proteins, phenols, flavanoids and essential oils. It contains enzymes to stimulate glutathione which assists in detoxification, The flavanoids moderate the bodys reaction to allergens and viruses and are anti inflammatory and anti microbial. Antioxidant properties in lemons also protect the body from free radicals and oxidative stress. Have one of these a day to keep your body strong, healthy and protected. I have also used it with competition prep clients to decrease fluid retention. Variations and additions- parsley, tumeric root, carrot
15.01.2022 Mukti Organics is my absolute favourite skin care brand. Why? Its cosmeceutical, it has higher concentrations of active ingredients then most of the big brands, it doesn't only claim to be natural it is 100% natural and best of all, it gets results. In my last delivery I also received a checklist of ingredients to look for when your purchasing a cosmetic, lotion, cream, soap etc. It was interesting to me that most of the ingredients I saw on there were present on very reputable brands that claim to be 100% natural with no nasties. So I have to share so you can be empowered with your purchases and use products that will give you the results without compromising your health as well.

13.01.2022 Is anyone else addicted to looking at labels before purchasing a product? My husband says it takes forever to shop with me because Ill want to read the label and know exactly whats in every food, cleaning or cosmetic item I purchase. Over Christmas and the holiday period I found this didnt serve me well at all. Every time I wanted to shortcut a recipe Id look at the ingredients of a ready made product and it just wouldnt do so I had to do it properly and make it myself.... Just because it says its gluten free does not mean it is crap free. This went as far as making my own bread so I could make it into breadcrumbs for the pudding I made. But the result of that was I knew my family and I could feast quite comfortably without, 1. Compromising our health and having tummy troubles or our kids getting moody or emotional from poor ingredients. 2. Energy levels were good due to having lower GI ingredients and controlling our blood sugar response. 3. Mental focus was still maintained due to not trying to calm down an inflammatory response from eating foods that we have intolerances to. 4. Body composition goals were still within close reach. This is essentially how I design my nutrition as anything that compromises how I function from day to day just isnt good enough. 1. Is it good for my individual health? 2. Will it slow me down or give me energy? 3. Will it make me foggy and sluggish? 4. How will it affect my training and recovery? 5. What are my body composition goals and will they affect them positively or negatively. If you need help defining what foods are right for you and your health and body composition goals, contact me at [email protected]

12.01.2022 Vitamin C. A simple but very powerful source of immune support. I love the new liposomal technology that is available to us now, as the nutrients and vitamins go straight to our cells and lymphatic system for maximum absorption. It also has increased bioavailability meaning we get more bang for our buck... For those who have issues swallowing pills or have small children it is easier and more convenient to dose. To keep your immune system strong this winter, get yourself some liposomal C. You only need 1 teaspoon per day to keep the colds away.
11.01.2022 Are you an Overthinker? Something I see commonly with my clients is that they just cannot get their brain to switch off. They are constantly thinking and running through the events of their day or thinking ahead into the future or having anxieties about work, relationships or their body composition goals. Most of these clients I have to say are what are classified as high achievers. They are never satisfied with their current achievements and are always wanting more. Its aw...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Every week we get a box of fresh organic fruits and vegetables. I absolutely love seeing the variety, colour, freshness and whats in season. That is how our bodies are designed to eat, with variety and with balance to maintain the diversity and function of our gut microbiome. Research is showing that the composition of our microbiome is responsible for our metabolism and regulates the balance between health and disease. The food that we eat feeds the commensal bacteria in o...ur gut that is essential to health. It is very easy to get stuck in our routine and do what is easiest and buy and eat the same foods over and over again so take the choice out of your hands. Support the local farmers and get them to choose your foods for you and get creative in the kitchen. P.S you can still achieve your aesthetic and fitness goals with a variety of foods. If you need help with this email or PM me.
07.01.2022 WHAT ORGAN KEEPS OUR HORMONES IN BALANCE?? When clients come to me suspecting they have a hormonal imbalance they are always surprised when I question them on their digestive function as well as their bowel movements. Why? ... Because the breakdown and removal of substances, whether it is something we are taking in from the outside, such as environmental toxins or producing from the inside (such as hormones), is key for the maintenance of health and treatment of disease. This process is done via the liver and gallbladder. The liver is the primary site for bile production and secretion to the gallbladder for storage. Bile is then released into the duodenum, which is the beginning of the small intestine, and this is where the digestion and absorption of nutrients start. Oestrogen excess can be linked to the improper breakdown of oestrogen metabolites by the liver. Symptoms of oestrogen excess includes, Premenstrual Syndrome Heavy Periods Irrational and aggressive mood swings Breast tenderness Bowel irregularities Difficulty losing weight despite appropriate nutrition and exercise Skin breakouts Oestrogen excess can be caused by, An increased production of hormones from your ovaries Endocrine disrupting chemicals or Xenoestrogens Impaired metabolism and detoxification of oestrogen via the liver and gallbladder. Stress, causing an imbalance in the hypothalamic pituitary axis, which can affect the production of progesterone to counterbalance oestrogen. It is important to find the underlying cause as to why you have oestrogen excess but supporting optimal liver function will be key in balancing your body. How do we do this? Ensure you have adequate fibre in your diet. Include leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables and seeds. Stay hydrated with a minimum of 2 litres of water daily Ensure you have the key nutrients needed to support liver function. Folate, B6, B12, zinc, selenium and magnesium. Do you have symptoms of bloating, flatulence, excess belching or anything that presents as having a negative impact on your gut function? Are you going to the toilet daily? The amount of clients I see that think it is normal to go to the toilet once a week is astounding! It is not normal! Exercise. This increases the peristalsis of the bowel and increases circulation therefore facilitating elimination. Any toxin that is not removed from your body whether it’s endogenous or exogenous will be reabsorbed into your blood stream. Start putting simple steps into place and if things still aren’t moving you know where to find me. [email protected]

06.01.2022 One of my lovely clients, fitness model and competitor Anna. Anna is great to work with as she doesn't allow excuses or life get in the way for what she wants to achieve. She knuckles down, puts in the time, is persistent and patient and listens to the signals her body gives her. Its easy to look at someone like her and think, its easy for her! She's gorgeous, has the bod and works in an industry that gives her the space and time to be able to put in the hard work. ... But thats where your wrong. Anna came to me frustrated and feeling helpless just like everyone else. Her doctor wasn't giving her any answers, her endocrinologist wasn't giving her answers and her previously proven methods of dieiting and training wasn't giving her the success she needed. She was emotional and was desperately seeking answers. Once we found that it was her gut that was giving her all the symptoms, I gave her a plan of action and a time line of approximately 3-4 months. That can sound like forever to some of us that want it all now but Anna trusted in the plan and stayed consistent and her determination gave her the results she knew were hers. It helped that the plan I put in place wasn't guesswork but was based on Annas results from the lab testing attended and treatment given that was specific to what she needed. Its amazing to be apart of someones journey of them achieving a greater version of themselves. If you need assistance to find out whats the cause of you not getting the results you need, contact me at [email protected] or private message me.
03.01.2022 FIVE WAYS NATURAL MEDICINE CAN HELP YOU GET COMPETITION READY Lets face it! Although we love the way we look when we are stage ready or when our body is operating at peak performance before an athletic competition, it also puts a lot of mental and physical stress and pressure on our bodies. 01.01.2022 SLEEP! SLEEP! SLEEP! Seriously every newsfeed on Facebook coming from a health and fitness site or article subscription is all based around the importance of sleep. If youre a mum like myself with young energetic children that wake up frequently during the night that could be frustrating. Or you could be a business owner, that stays up late at night working, as that seems to be the only time youre your left in peace to get anything done. Or maybe your work requires take ho...me material to complete, or you could be a shift worker. Whatever the reasons you have of not getting that 8 hour sleep that research says is so crucial to an optimally functioning body as well as preventative for most diseases including Alzheimers, I feel your pain. However that still does not change the fact that our body requires it to maintain equilibrium in our body. So what do we do? We support our body the best way we can until, either the kids start sleeping, our work requirements are more under control or that long term solution is suddenly on the horizon. Support your nervous system: Using herbs such as zizyphus, withania and lemon balm to strengthen and nourish the nervous system and adrenals. Increase cognitive ability: Herbs such as Bacopa and Gingko have research to support an increase in short term memory and concentration. Herbs such as Kava create a calming effect as well as providing focus which will help to decrease anxiety you may feel just from being wired and tired. Energy Production: B Vitamins and Magnesium. Essential to replenish your body with in times of stress. Not sleeping =stress. Adaptogenic herbs, amazing way to provide you with energy without having to consume excessive caffeine. Hormone Balancing: Hormones are affected from lack of sleep as it causes a disruption of your circadian rhythm, which also affects hormone production and regulation. Adaptogenic herbs such as Ginseng, Rhemannia, Licorice and Withania can help to keep the HPA axis in balance, which will keep your body supported during this period. To keep me functioning at high capacity inspite of limited sleep, this is what Im currently taking. A herbal tincture of, Chastetree: Supports HPA balance and production of progesterone Rhemannia: Supports adrenals and immune system Withania: Supports adrenals, hormone balancing, decreases anxiety and increases energy Gotu Kola: Increases collagen production, decreases inflammation, supports the liver, reduces free radicals If you are also frustrated and tired with other health symptoms creeping in, contact me at [email protected] to help you beat this no sleep period in your life. P.S. My husband also recently purchased each member of our family, blue blocking glasses, which help to start increasing melatonin even if our eyes are exposed to light. Long term effects- less wrinkles, less cortisol production, Deep REM sleep, happy brain waves.
