14.01.2022 We were so excited to have a special visit from some Librarians from Lowood Library at our Kindy today. Every year we visit the library a couple times however due to COVID restrictions were are unable to do that this year. Instead we had some special vistors come to us. We are so lucky to be in such a lovely community. Thankyou Lowood Libary for always supporting us and making us excited to read stories. See you again soon.

13.01.2022 We love drawing at Lowood Kindy, but sometimes we have a little trouble knowing what to draw and how to draw something. Yesterday we did a guided drawing session to draw a pig. There are so many great benefits to a guided drawing session: The children are learning to follow instructions, they are paying attention to detail, they are completing a task, they are drawing for a reason. A really big bonus to this task is that it builds the children's self-esteem as they complete a drawing and realise they can do it.

13.01.2022 We are very proud to announce that we have recieved an 'Exceeding' Rating in ALL 7 Quality areas under the National Quality framework. Thankyou to all our staff, committee and families both past and present for being part of our Kindy family. Your continual support is very much appreciated.

13.01.2022 Last week was NAIDOC week and we were busy little bees at Lowood Kindy. We have been renovating our yarning circle area with the support from a grant from Bendigo Bank. We have had a mural and totem pole painted by our Aboriginal Artist Alan Cole. Our Kindy children created some amazing artwork on some stepping stone pavers. We also made a traditional talking stick that we use in our yarning time dicussions. Thankyou to some lovely parents who put up our tyres and hung our s...igns for us. We had such a great week and have learnt so much about our Aboriginal culture. Always Was, Always Will Be.

09.01.2022 We found some caterpillars in our garden this week, they were busy eating our rockmelon. We have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly so this was perfect timing. We have enjoyed reading the very hungry caterpillar and using our smart board to research and gather information. Over the next couple months we will be watching our caterpillars and hopfully they put on a great show for us.

08.01.2022 We love our bikes at Lowood Kindergarten. The design of a balance bike encourages kids to use their arms and lift their legs when moving forward. This not only helps them to build up their strength, it also helps them to fine tune their motor skills, coordination and agility. Today the children made a bike shop today using hammers, spanners and bolts. What great team work and such an important life skill.

06.01.2022 This week Lowood Kindy went on an excursion to Haigslea EWE Nique Hobby Farm. We took along some parents and siblings too which was a great family morning out. Excursions play an imporant role within our program at Lowood Kindy. Learning to be outside of Kindy with your class is an important skill to learn. We all had such a great time.

06.01.2022 Today the children decided to design and build their own obstacle course at Kindy. We had lots to think about when building our course. It needed to be challenging but not too tricky, safe of course so we needed our safety mats out and the most important aspect it needed to be fun. We worked as a team and were so happy with our outcome. We are so lucky at Lowood Kindy to have such a beautiful back yard with lots of natural elements to explore. If you have not come to see us give us a call and pop in for a visit. Our Kindy might be what you are looking for. We have 2 vacancies left for 2021 so give us a call today.

05.01.2022 We are a sustainable Kindy at Lowood. We have a compost station where children put all their food scaps, which we then put in our big compost bin. Today in our yarning circle we were talking about compost and how our actions and use of rubbish can affect our gardens and our land. We have created a little science experiment at Kindy were we are testing what materials turn into dirt. What materials are good to use and what ones should we avoid using.

04.01.2022 Its Christmas at Lowood Kindy and we are having so much fun preparing for our christmas concert for our last day of term. Our tree's are up and we are singing to our christmas songs as we engage in writing santa letters, exploring christmas crafts and making special gifts for our families. What do you love about Christmas?

03.01.2022 We always have lots of fun times when we play Parachute games at Lowood Kindy. Parachute games encourage cooperative, non-competitive play and reinforce turn-taking and sharing. While most gross motor activities for young children develop muscles in the lower body more than the upper torso, parachutes strengthen primarily shoulder, arm and hand muscles. When children work together to make the parachute billow, they also refine perceptual motor skills and develop a sense of rhythm. Language activities can also be incorporated into most parachute games. Parachutes are a lot of fun for both children and adults to play with, especially in large, grassy areas. The opportunities to encourage children's overall development with this exciting activity make it an ideal choice for early childhood programming.
