20.01.2022 What most people see vs. what a designer will see! 1 First line font size reduced 2 Spelling 3 Double space... 4 Space before the comma 5 Double period 6 Text alignment off-centre in layout 7 Capitalised script font 8 Inconsistent tracking (space between letters) 9 Too many typefaces Capital A Some of these observations are super obvious and I made this first design extra unpleasant on the eye! But did you notice the trickier ones, in particular 1, 6 & 8? Also curious to know, did you find any others?! 15.01.2022 Graphic Design 101 Just for laughs!! Back in the day, many many years ago, when print media was a very big thing, I used to work for a newspaper company that had daily deadlines across many publications and we had to churn out the advertisements. Sometimes it was hard to be creative when you had a time limit hanging over your head. Within the design team, we'd always say it was a Helvetica kind of day when we were lacking inspiration! Of course, this is not relevant to today's work style and my life no longer has a daily work deadline - there's more time for the design process with creating and experimenting!!

11.01.2022 Happy International Women's Day 2021! March the 8th all around the world is marked as the day of movement for women's rights. Being a woman is a very grown-up word that I'm not very good at describing myself as - but I'm turning 40 this year so it's about time I guess ... Reflecting on the women in my family, I am very proud to say: My great grandmother was a suffragette My grandmother worked as a nurse and in WW2 she had both ankles broken while rescuing children from the hospital where she worked, during the bombings of London. She also survived breast cancer My own mother lived in 4 completely different countries before the age of 20 - born in Ireland, childhood Uganda, teenage years England, adulting Australia. She taught me love, kindness, understanding and the joys that growing up is optional! PLUS I grew up listening to mum play or sing this song (constantly)!! And here I am, I just spent 3 hours cleaning the house, dripping in boob and neck sweat, no where near accomplishing such incredible achievements! I am very blessed to have such amazing and inspirational women in my life and those I admire from afar past, present and future. Happy International Women's Day 2021
