03.01.2022 50 years ago today, Australia's first Indigenous World Champion Lionel Rose (42W-11L) won the WBC & WBA World Bantamweight Titles- when he beat Japan's Fighting... Harada (55W-7L) in Tokyo via unanimous decision. Rose went on to become the first Indigenous Australian to be nominated for Australian of the Year- as well as becoming a central figure of Australian boxing and Australian sports as a whole.
