24.01.2022 Aus team in Thailand! First few days.

22.01.2022 It's been 5 months! This has been a fantastic, challenging time of growth and learning for our whole family. We have continued our support of the local church and worked at building community with the village people around us. We have done lots of practical stuff to help maintain the premises where we are staying - also the church venue. It is an ongoing battle of epic proportions to maintain the garden, Mac and Barry have forged ahead bravely!... We volunteer at a local council daycare once a week and I LOVE it! The children are adorable and the teachers so lovely and kind. They have invited us to have a special lunch with the staff next week and so we are looking forward to this honour. Not everything has been easy, there have been run-ins with snakes, scorpions, rats, biting ants of all sizes... I find this very challenging! Day to day chores like shopping, cooking and laundry are all more effort than back in Aus. We've had to be seriously careful with our finances, every Baht is carefully accounted for and every purchase weighed and prayed over before decisions are made. However, we would not change a single moment we've experienced. Every step of the way God has been with us, leading and guiding us to grow closer to Him and trust Him more. I'm reminded of that song : 'Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the water wherever You will call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander, and my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my Saviour' I've sung that song so many times. Easily said, not easily done. When we're taken 'deeper' where our trust is challenged and stretched, sometimes that feels like we're going to drown. Staying in shallows is safer and nicer... Going deep is scary and feels unsafe at times. But God is there. The girls and I have taken up saying to one another: 'You gotta risk it for the biscuit'. A silly saying that has come to mean much more to us as a family. Every time one of our daughters tries a new and strange (to them) food, or has a go at speaking broken Thai to someone, or prays aloud with someone other than our immediate family, they are taking a risk. If you don't risk it, you are guaranteed there is no biscuit - no growth, no new discovery, no stretched and larger faith capacity. But take that risk and see what God can do. In closing, we are starting to prepare for our return to Aus. We will be flying out on the 12th of July. We are super excited about the team of 10 people from our own church in Perth who will be joining us for our last week here. We are so looking forward to be sharing some of what we've done here with them. God bless you. Monica

07.01.2022 Aus team in Thailand, next few days...

05.01.2022 Mac and Barry helped to plant rice today. So beautuful when you drive around and see all the planted rice paddies... We had no idea what hard work it is to sow, sprout and replant little bundles. Now we pray for rain to keep the paddie flooded until harvest time.

01.01.2022 Our last lunch as a family alone here in Thailand! So looking forward to the team from our home church in Australia - they touch down tonight! Then after one happy week together we will be heading home with them. Watch this space for more pics and posts this week. Can't believe our adventure is almost over.
